Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh today visited different laboratories at University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology including Mass Transfer Research Laboratory, Food Technology Laboratory and Unit Operation Laboratory to oversee the on-going research activities in these laboratories.
During his visit, the Vice Chancellor interacted with the research scholars and showed his keen interest in their research projects. He assured them all possible help for the promotion of quality research on the University campus and stated that there will be no dearth of resources and money for the same.
Later, in his classroom interaction, PU VC motivated the students of B.E. Chemical to generate new ideas and to engage in innovative research activities. He shared with the students about the upcoming Incubation Centre at the Panjab University Campus. He also inspired the students to join the ‘Earn while you Learn’ scheme. He encouraged the students to maintain cleanliness in the surroundings.

While sharing this information, Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh said that the preparations have been done with great zeal and enthusiasm for the event. Chief Guest for the event, Smt. Kirron Kher, MP, Chandigarh shall grace the occasion.
The plaza has been prepared for this event in a beautiful way so that the programme starts on its scheduled time of 4pm. All the councillors and Market Welfare Associations of city especially sector 17 and Chandigarh Beyopar Mandal have been invited for adding charm to the event with their benign presence.
With the cultural arrangements for bonfire along with folk songs of Punjab, the event is all set to grab the attention of people. Lohri which is incomplete without bhangra and giddha will see it’s true colours on the beats of dhol, special dance performances and music performances today. Moreover, with the plaza regaining it’s lost beauty, this shall add more to it. After successful Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, Lohri shall be another festival which will add sparks to the newly developing plaza, added the Mayor.

चण्डीगढ़ , 13 जनवरी, 2020ः निरंकार प्रभु परमात्मा पर अगर हम आधारित रहेंगे तो निरंकार के गुण हमारे अंदर भी आयेंगेे। भक्ति वह जीवन है जो इस निरंकार के साथ नाता जोड़कर व्यतीत होता है। भक्त बनने का मापदण्ड है सहजता का गुण और हर परिस्थिति में चाहे वह प्रतिकूल हो या अनुकूल, निरंकार पर स्थिरता कायम रखना। यह उद्गार सद्गुरु माता सुदीक्षा जी महाराज ने भक्ति पर्व के पावन अवसर पर दिल्ली में व्यक्त किए।
इस अवसर पर न केवल दिल्ली, ट्राईसिटी से अपितु आसपास के सभी क्षेत्रों से भी हज़ारों की संख्या में श्रद्धालु भक्त सम्मिलित हुए। सत्संग कार्यक्रम में अनेक वक्ताओं तथा गीतकारों ने शहनशाह बाबा अवतार सिंह जी, बाबा गुरबचन सिंह जी, बाबा हरदेव सिंह जी, निरंकारी राजमाता जी, माता सविंदर हरदेव जी तथा अनेक गुरु भक्तों का उल्लेख किया एवं उनके जीवन से जो शिक्षाएं आज भी हमारा मार्गदर्शन करती हैं, उनकी चर्चा की। यह जानकारी परिमल सिंह काॅरडिनेटर प्रेस एवं पब्लिसिटी विभाग ने दी।
भक्ति की परिभाषा देते हुए सद्गुरु माता जी ने कहा कि -‘भक्ति जितनी आसान है उतनी ही मुश्किल भी।’ परन्तु फिर भी युगों-युगों से इतिहास मंें भक्ति के मार्ग पर चलने के ही दिशा-निर्देश दिये गये हैं। अगर भक्ति के गुण हर व्यक्ति में आ जाते, तो हर व्यक्ति भक्त होता। सद्गुरु माता जी ने फरमाया कि भक्ति तभी शुरू होती है जब यह ब्रह्मज्ञान का वासा हमारे अंदर होता है। भक्ति केवल मन से की जाती है, यह दिखावे का विषय नहीं।
सद्गुरु माता जी ने भक्ति के तीन अहम्साधन-सत्संग, सेवा, सुमिरण के महत्व को भी समझाया कि यह केवल तीन शब्द ही न बनकर रह जायंे। इसे जितना हम जीवन में धारण करेंगे उतनी ही भक्ति हमारे जीवन में दृढ़ होती चली जायेगी।भक्त बनने के गुण प्रीत, नम्रता, विशालता, तंगदिली को छोड़ना, सहजता, करूणा, मन में जो भी सकारात्मक गुण हैं इनको जब तक अपनाते रहें और जीवन में लागू करते रहें तभी यह भक्ति हमारी काय़म रह सकती है।
अंत में सद्गुरु माता जी ने मिशन के बुजुर्गो के भक्ति के साथ अटूट नाते का उदाहरण दिया और संतों को भक्ति मार्ग पर चलने के लिए प्रेरित किया।
The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and Tourism Department, UT, Chandigarh will organize Rose Festival on 28th, 29th February and 1st March, 2020 in the Rose Garden, here.
This was decided in a preliminary meeting of Rose Festival held here today in the conference hall of MCC under the Chairmanship of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC and attended by Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, area councilor, other concerned officers of UT Administration and MCC.
During the meeting it was decided that the Rose Festival will be dedicated to “Plastic Mukt Festival” amid organizing various cultural programmes including competition for the children, young and old to ensure maximum participation of the general public in the Festival.
Competitions including Flower & Rangoli competition, competition of neighbourhood parks maintained by RWAs, Rose Prince and Rose Princess competition, Brass and pipe band competition, on the spot painting competition, rose quiz competition, photography competition, folk dance competition, Antakshri, Rose King and Rose Queen Competition, Mr. Rose & Ms. Rose Competition, Floral Hat Competition, Newlywed couple competition besides Helicopter rides.
The Commissioner said that this time the Plaza area of Sector 17 would be make live by providing food stalls and exhibitions of art and craft including live cultural programmes. He said that night sweeping will be done during the Rose Festival to provide a clean and better atmosphere inside and outside the Rose Garden.

Chandigarh, January 13: –Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh, today extended her warm welcome to all the officers of the Corporation in a interaction meeting organized here today. Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Jagtar Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor, Sh. Sanjay Jha, IAS, Special Commissioner, Sh. Tilak Raj, Sh. S.K. Jain, Sh. Anil Garg, Additional Commissioners, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, Sh. Sanjay Arora, Superintending Engineer (B&R), Sh. K.P. Singh, Superintending Engineer, Horticulture and all Executive Engineers were also present during the meeting.
In her brief speech, the Mayor expressed the need of time bound work by the Corporation and requested all the officers to call her for any kind of problem related to MCC and developmental work of their respective departments.
She said that overall development is her priority and remained development works would be completed soon with the co-operation of councilors and officials of the Corporation. Public participation to ensure the beautification of city is necessary, the Mayor said.
The Mayor discussed other important issues including status of Car Bazar, strict enforcement according to permissions for temporary seating arrangements outside eating joints in the city markets, status of cable operators issues, status of taxi stands, highest revenue cases in the courts be listed and discussed in the next meeting.
The Mayor also discussed that issues be prepared to take up in the coordination meeting of UT Administration and MCC, improvement in Solid Waste Management projects, work for better rank in Swachh Survekshan 2020, works related to Ward Development Funds be taken up as priority, lights be provided in the remaining dark spots under village development funds and IDC projects be speed up, the officers apprised that lights have been provided in total 3200 points out of 7200 points and rest will be provided till march, 2020.
She said that development of Manimajra be taken up with the development plan of 13 villages under dedicated funds. She said that Deputy Mayor of MCC will be called in all the meetings of village development committees. Other issues were also discussed including places be identified to provide high mast lights in city, consultant be appointed to assess replacement of sewerage and storm water pipe lines and duty of beldars in B&R wing be ensured strictly according to their allotted road streach. She said that action would be taken against the road supervisor and beldar, where road will be found unattended and unevenness of paving areas also be taken up by the concerned road supervisors.

Chandigarh, January 11:-Today on 11th January, Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma & Sh. Jagtar Singh Dhillon (Jagga) newly elected Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor & Deputy Mayor, Chandigarh made courtesy call to Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore, Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh.
The Administrator started his best wishes and congratulation to them followed by discussion on various issues regarding development of city. The Mayor raised the issues regarding implementation of 4th Delhi Finance Commission’s recommendations and also regarding allocation of sufficient budgetary Grant-in-Aid to Municipal Corporation so that normal development works and other important infrastructure projects can be taken up by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh on priority and the issues in future may be taken up in a better way.
She also raised the issues concerning women safety and increasing of crime incidents in the city. She thanked the Administrator for allotting funds for the project to cover all dark spots in city and also apprised that the work will be completed by 31st of March, 2020. Similarly, she apprised that provision of CCTV cameras and surveillance are being taken up under Smart City project.
She requested the Administrator to continue the monthly meetings of Co-ordination Committee at the level of Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh where issues pending with Chandigarh Administration due to inter departmental queries can be sorted out so that Municipal Corporation can undertake these projects in a better and speedy way.
The Administrator expressed that the committees constituted for development of 13 villages and headed by nominated councilors of MCC must start their function and development plan for each village. He said that projects and plan would be chalked out at the earliest so that facilities and infrastructure of these villages can be developed at par with sectors of the city.
He said that the cleanliness not only means sanitation drives but includes segregation of waste and proper management of Municipal Solid Waste that has to be the top most priority and the MCC should involve public at large in these projects to ensure their participation in maintaining the beauty of the city.
Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental sciences, Panjab University in association with Department of Dentistry ,GMCH-Sec. 32 conducted an oral health program under the banner of South Asian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (SAAPD) to celebrate its founder’s day. SAAPD is an association of pediatric dentists involving six countries namely India, Nepal, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka. Oral health education was imparted to the caregivers and teachers of approximately 400 children with special needs at Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities, sector 31. Children of Apna Ghar/Apne Foundation, a shelter home at Mohali, were also educated and examined. Dr Urvashi Sharma, Dr Gurvanit Kaur Lehl and Dr Ikreet Singh along with interns of the dental institute facilitated this outreach activity.

Chandigarh, January 10:- First meeting for the development works in the village Raipur Khurd was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Ajay Dutta, nominated councillor, MCC which was attended by other members of committee. Sh. Kuldeep Singh, Executive Engineer, Electrical Division, MCC was also present during the meeting to discuss the problems to be taken up by the committee.
The Committee members listed various problems including Sewerage Blockage, provision of adequate water supply, broken and unmade roads, fixation of the only pulley on the way to cremation ground, re-functionality of the dispensary, maintenance of toilets, construction of bus stops, allotment and placement of new street lights, stray animals and provision of roads in the main market areas.

Chandigarh, January 10:- As per the directions of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, senior officers of MCC will check monitoring reports of Night Shelters on daily basis and submit report to the Commissioner.
As per details, there are 10 locations in Chandigarh where night shelters facility has been provided by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh including in Sec 9D in front of CHB Off, 16A near hospital gate, Opposite PGI gate, 19B on V5, 20D near Mandir, 22C opposite JW Marriott, 32B near hospital gate, 34A opposite booth market, 43D in bus stand.
The following facilities have been provided in the shelters including Waterproof air tight shelters for comfortable accommodation, Room heater/ bloors to provide cozy temperature, Mattresses with quilt and pillow i/c clean bed sheet on raised plywood platform covered with mat and PVC sheet for easily cleaning, Potable water for drinking with disposable glasses, Separate arrangements for ladies and gents in Sec 16A, PGI, 32A, Mobile toilets near shelter opposite PGI, Sec 16A, 32A, Wall mounted cameras for proper supervision and security with access arrangements in MC officer mobiles, Security persons deputed for 24 hours for proper maintenance of shelter and watch & ward, First aid kit available in each shelter. Also person residing in shelter can call at 112 to get free medical facility, Complaint register and separate register to upkeep proper record on daily basis of person residing in shelter.
The MCC has provided complaint register to improve the facilities in shelters as per requirement of public on daily basis.
