Chandigarh, September 27:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out plogging and cleaning at 75 parks in one day today including big gardens under Swachh Amrit Mahotsav.
Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor launched the full day drive at Manimajra followed by all the wards throughout city with respective area councillors.
During the plogging  and clean up drive activities including  Pruning, hedge cutting,  Cleaning of footpaths, painting of  children play and open air gym equipments,  cleaning of dustbins, in all the 75 parks have been taken.

Department of NSS in collaboration with the Boys Hostel No. 4 has organized a cultural event in commemoration of the NSS foundation day at Panjab University, Chandigarh. About 80 NSS volunteers participated in the event. Dr. Vivek Kumar, Chairperson, Centre for Medical Physics, PU and Programme Officer NSS has welcomed and motivated the volunteers. Cultural programms of various states were performed. Every year, NSS day is observed on September 24^th across India. The National Service Scheme was launched in 1969, the Birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi in 37 Universities involving 40,000 students. It has now been extended to all the states and Universities of the country. Dr. Richa, Dr. Anuj Kumar, Dr. Naveen Kumar, Dr. A.N. Singh and Dr. Shankar Sehgal have participated in the programme.

Chandigarh, September 23:- Acting tough on the poor maintenance of neighborhood parks of sector 22, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today ordered to cancel the MoU for maintenance of 11 neighborhood parks including 6 parks of sector 22, maintained by AMRUT Resident Welfare Association, Chandigarh and 5 parks of sector 37, maintained by Resident Welfare Association, Sector 37-D, Chandigarh.

Following the directions of the Commissioner, the concerned Executive Engineers of Horticulture wing inspected the maintenance of the parks performance of the RWAs, which were found unsatisfactory as per the terms and conditions of the MoU.

The Commissioner further orders the Superintending Engineer, Horticulture, MCC to submit maintenance report of all neighborhood parks for which MoU have been signed for maintenance by RWAs alongwith pictorial evidences and maintenance records.

The Horticulture Wing, MCC has started the inspection of all the neighborhood parks and putting up the cases to the Commissioner about the maintenance of parks and performance of the RWAs. The non-performing RWAs which are not maintaining roundabouts as per the norms will now be facing immediate cancellation.

Earlier, the Commissioner ordered to cancel the MoU of roundabouts maintenance with 5 firms/PSUs for poor performance and proper upkeep.
