COE Office of PU Instructions for B.Ed 1st Semester

For Detailed News-

In view of the Curfew / Lockdown imposed in some cities of Punjab due to COVID-19, the students appearing in the Online Examinations of B.Ed 1st Semester w.e.f. 11th May 2021 and Clash / Medical Cases of UG / PG Courses 1st Semester w.e.f. 12th May, 2021 are hereby informed by the office of Controller of Examination, that:
1) The College Students of B.Ed 1st Semester will Email a Single PDF (soft copy) of the answer sheet to their colleges. No student should visit the college premises for submitting the hard copy of the answer sheet. The submission of the soft copy of the answer sheet should strictly be done within 90minutes of the completion of the exam. It is mandatory for the students to Email the PDF of their answer sheet to their Email ID also and this should also be done within 90 minutes of the completion of the exam. However, the students must retain the hard copy of the answer sheet till the result is declared. The College students will not upload their answer sheet on the University Portal.
2) The USOL / Private / Re-Appear students are required to upload the Single PDF of their answer sheet on the University Portal i.e. online.puexam.in within 90 minutes of the completion of the exam. It is mandatory for the students to Email the PDF of their answer sheet to their own Email ID also and this should also be done within 90 minutes of the completion of the exam. The hard copy of the answer sheet is also required to be sent to the University. However considering curfew curbs and health advisories, if speed post within stipulated time as per previous instructions is not possible, flexibility is provided to the candidate to post it at a later stage. The students will seal the answer sheet in an envelope immediately after the exam and retain this with themselves till the exams are concluded. The students can post all of his / her answer sheets to the University after completion of scheduled examinations. However, at places where the administration allows the people to go to the post office, the students can post the answer sheet on the same day of examination itself. In case any alteration is found in the Uploaded PDF of the answer sheet and the Hard Copy of the answer sheet, both answer sheets will be rejected and the result will be withheld. For this, the students are required to accept the undertaking while uploading the answer sheet on the University Portal.
3) The College students appearing in the Clash / Medical Case online examinations of UG / PG 1st Semester should follow Point No. 1 and the USOL / Private / Re-Appear students should follow Point No. 2.
4) Other instructions w.r.t. the pattern of question paper, timing and instructions for attempting the question paper, Number of pages to be used by the students etc. already notified through letter no. 12558/CE, Dated 29.01.2021 and 13049/CE, Dated 13.02.2021 remains unchanged. Both of these letters are available on the University website, online.puexam.in

PU celebrated World Red Cross Day

Panjab University in  association with Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, Punjab And Red Cross Society, Punjab, on the eve of World Red Cross day  organised a virtual awareness lecture under the title “ Role of Civil Society in fight against Pandemic”.

Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of P.U. in his address said that Civil Society is the most effective cooperative unit to fight against adversaries. He further added that Man has become the most formidable and fit creature on the earth, due to its acumen and agility to evolve the civilised societies. Man has learned the relevance of mutual cooperation, complementarity and harmony to tackle most of the challenges faced by living creatures. 

Sh. Avinash Rai Khanna, renowned thinker and social worker, related the obligations and role of a actual civilised society with formation and working of Indian Red Cross Society. Sh. Khanna urged every youth and capable member of Indian civil society to come forward with dedication to discharge their “ manav dharma” and “ samaj dhrama” holding it be most sacrosanct facet of Idea of justice propagated by Indian Civilisation. Sh. Khanna advised educational institutions to aware the youth to donate blood before being vaccinated, help lonely senior citizens whose children are serving away from home as army personnel or front line fighters and institutions should prepare consultation panels of medical students to aware the needy.

Dr. Umashankar Pachauri, All Indian General Secretary of Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, quoted some anecdotes and stories from ancient Indian history, where to tackle the pandemic and adversaries every affluent member of Indian Society distribute all their earning among society at large and especially for marginalised sections. Dr Pachauri appealed to the audience to make everyone aware that one should restraint from being self centric by collecting medicine like Remidesivir for future, when other needy patients are suffering due to its urgent need.

PU to Close AC Joshi Library

In pursuance to the order of UT Administration dated 7 May 2021,  issued under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, Panjab University today convened a meeting  under the Chairmanship of Prof. V.R.Sinha, Dean of University Instructions, in the presence of CA Vikram Nayyar, officiating Registrar, Dr. Jagat Bushan, Controller of Examination, Prof. S.K.Tomar, Dean Student Welfare(Men), Prof. Sukhbir Kaur, Dean Student Welfare(Women), Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Chief Medical Officer, Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean College Development Council, Prof. Devinder Singh, Secretary to Vice Chancellor and Prof. Naval Kishore, Department of Geology. 

The committee has recommended  to close all the physical facilities /services of Panjab University which includes  AC Joshi Library, Departmental Libraries, Laboratories, Swimming Pool, Play grounds etc till 31st May, 2021. However, the online teaching shall continue  with staggered presence of staff as already notified by the University.

Further , in the interest of health and safety of students and also to ensure that the PU hostel residents are not exposed to the highly infectious virus in the prevailing alarming conditions of pandemic, the committee decided that all the students shall be requested to return safely to their homes and families. PU authorities shall seek assistance of UT Administration for the safe departure of students.

PU launches E-Library Services

In another milestone for Panjab University, Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, today launched e-Library services for the registered users of the University. PU VC in his address said that it is a momentous moment for PU to extend this facility to the faculty, researchers and students of PU to access around 15000 plus e-Journals, several thousand e-books, databases etc from their safe environments in the current pandemic situation.

            Dr. Jivesh Bansal, University Librarian provided an overview of the PU e-Library and said that this facility will be provided to all the registered users of Panjab University at Chandigarh and all the Regional Centres along with the faculty of all the affiliated Colleges. He further informed that the PU e-Library is a rich content platform through which all the subscribed e-resources, eShodhSindhu resources, Web-OPAC, Institutional Content will be provided to all the registered users of the PU. The e-Library aggregates all the library collections, open Access resources, multimedia learning content and electronic document repositories all on one platform. This facility can be accessed on any device from anywhere. The platform will also provide a Mobile e-Library App (for both Android & iOS) which offers a multi-format, content delivery app for users to consume eBook collections, e-Course material, latest journal issues and multimedia learning content. Patrons can access the e-Library from Library Webpage as well through mobile app.

            Mr. Rahul Agarwalla, owner of Knimbus also spoke about the features and scope of eLibrary.

Webinar on Challenges and Opportunities for Startups in Rural India by PU UBS Ludhiana

Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh presided over the event on “Challenges and Opportunities for Startups in Rural India” organized by University Business School, PU Regional Centre, Ludhiana.

            Prof. Raj Kumar, in his keynote address congratulated the institute director and faculty members for organizing the talk on such an issue which is very much relevant, long lasting and motivating the students for being entrepreneur and generating more employment opportunities leading to overall development of nation. He also proposed that one Incubation centre be established at Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana for providing mentoring and guidance for the upcoming Startups from Ludhiana city. He further ensured every support from PU Chandigarh in this regard.

            Ms. Mandeep Kaur Sidhu, CEO, Simba Quartz in his address shared her success story from the days of her student life. She emphasized that students should not look for finding placements or other employment opportunities only, rather they must focus on acting as job provider. She not only talked about the different problems she faced while starting and managing her company but also motivated the participants sharing how she managed to find solution for every barrier she faced. She talked about various benefits of running the organization in rural area also. She insisted that there exists no problem or barrier if one is totally determined and passionate for the task in hand.

            Earlier, Prof. Ravi Inder Singh, Director, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana in his welcome address emphasized that more than sixty percent of population lives in rural areas whereas the main dependence for the livelihood is on agricultural activities only. 4th Online Meeting Bazm-e-Adab at PU

Department of Urdu and Sanskrit, Panjab University jointly organized  4th online meeting of “Bazm-e-Adab” today.

            Dr Ali Abbas, Coordinator described Ladakh region has a lofty life-line of language, linguistic, literature and literary Criticism. He said that the human society as a whole world always remain indebted to the Ladakh region lying in the lap of might Himalaya from where originated the never ending stream of language, linguistic, literature and literary Criticism.

            Prof. V.K Alankar, Chairperson, Department of Sanskrit said that the area comprising of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh had made more than 80% of the contribution for the development of Sanskrit language, linguistic and literature. Language and literature connect various culture with each other, he added.

            Mr. Mohd Shareef, a research scholar in the department of Urdu in his research paper on the development of Urdu short stories in the Ladakh area, highlighted various aspect of the Ladakhi culture depicted in the short stories. The main feature of these short stories is the absence of DOWRY which is a social stigma in other part of our country. Rich tribute was paid to eminent Urdu scholar  Prof.Shamim Hanafi.

चंडीगढ़, 5 मई – हरियाणा के पुलिस महानिदेशक (डीजीपी) मनोज यादव ने पुलिस अधिकारियों को निर्देश देते हुए कहा कि फील्ड में तैनात सभी अधिकारी कोरोनावायरस के संक्रमण को फैलने से रोकने के लिए प्रदेश में लगाए गए लॉकडाउन को अपने-अपने क्षेत्रों में एक मजबूत तंत्र एक्टिवेट करते हुए सख्ती से लागू करना सुनिश्चित करें।

डीजीपी आज पुलिस मुख्यालय में आयोजित एक वीडियो-कॉन्फ्रेंस के माध्यम से सभी पुलिस आयुक्तों (सीपी) और जिला पुलिस अधीक्षकों (एसपी) की बैठक की अध्यक्षता कर रहे थे। राज्य सरकार द्वारा लगाए गए लॉकडाउन व रात्रि कर्फ्यू को लागू करने सहित रेमेडिसविर इंजेक्शन और ऑक्सीजन की कालाबाजारी के खिलाफ अबतक की पुलिस कार्रवाई की समीक्षा के लिए बैठक आयोजित की गई थी।
उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार ने कोविड-19 के संक्रमण को रोकने के लिए 3 मई से पूरे राज्य में 7 दिन का लॉकडाउन लगाया है। इस दौरान बिना किसी वैध कारण के किसी को भी बाहर सड़कों पर जाने की अनुमति नहीं होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि लॉकडाउन के निर्देशों का उल्लंघन करने वालों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की जाएगी, जबकि आवश्यक सामग्री वाहनों और ऐसी गतिविधियों में लगे लोगों, ई-पास धारकों, जरूरतमंदों को ही आवाजाही की अनुमति होगी।


उन्होंने लोगों से अपील करते हुए कहा कि लॉकडाउन के दौरान किसी आवश्यक कार्य के लिए बाहर जाने के इच्छुक नागरिक सर्वप्रथम हरियाणा सरकार के “सरलहरियाणा” वेब-पोर्टल से “ई-पास” प्राप्त करें। पुलिस को निर्देशित किया गया है कि वैध ‘‘ई-पास‘‘ दिखाने के बाद ही नागरिकों की आवाजाही की अनुमति दी जाए।


डीजीपी ने मीटिंग के दौरान जीवन रक्षक दवाओं और ऑक्सीजन सिलेंडर की जमाखोरी या कालाबाजारी के खिलाफ की गई कार्रवाई की भी समीक्षा की। उन्होंने जिला एसपी द्वारा इस तरह की अवैध और गैरकानूनी गतिविधियों में लिप्त लोगों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई के लिए किए गए प्रयासों की भी सराहना की।


उन्होंने कहा कि कोरोना महामारी के दौरान नागरिकों को सेवाएं प्रदान करने में हरियाणा पुलिस अग्रणी रही है। विभिन्न कर्तव्यों के दौरान संक्रमित हमारे कर्मियों की बढ़ती संख्या फिर से पुलिस के लिए एक चुनौतीपूर्ण समय है। उन्होंने पुलिस अधिकारियों से कहा कि वे अपने जिलों में कर्मचारियों विशेष रूप से कोविड संक्रमित कर्मियों की देखभाल की उचित व्यवस्था करना सुनिश्चित करें। हमने जिला पुलिस लाइनों में कोविड देखभाल की सुविधा पहले ही स्थापित कर दी है।

Mayor and Commissioner reviews role and responsibilities towards COVID relief

Chandigarh, May 4:- Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh and Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today reviewed the role and responsibilities of Municipal Corporation towards COVID relief to the citizens.

The Mayor asked the Commissioner to strengthen the contact tracing team according to the guidelines. He said that all safety gears be provided to the team members following COVID guidelines.

The Mayor said that all the community centres shall be offered to NGOs/Societies for setting up COVID care centres.

He said that the sanitation team, which collects the garbage from the houses of positive cases be strengthen and quick response teams be formed to lift the waste at the earliest.

The Mayor said that sanitization of public places and govt. areas be ensured throughout city by the MOH department and required equipments including mask, gloves be given to them keeping in view their safety as well.

 The Mayor also appealed to the front line workers of MCC to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.

In addition to that the Mayor and Commissioner reviewed the development works of MCC including villages. The Commissioner said that tenders have been floated for public health and electricity works at 13 villages and will be allotted soon. He said that in these villages a detailed plan be prepared related to MCC works and correspondence be started with Administration for UT related works.

Mayor appreciated the work of road carpeting throughout city and said that it will be done in full speed and completed before monsoon. He said that the work of dark spots and garden lights be speed up and complete at the earliest.

The commissioner said that correspondence has been started with the UT Administration to release funds at the tune of Rs. 5 lacs to each councilor for COVID relief at ward level.
