Total of 49 exams were conducted on Day 2 of the Exams in 2 slabs of 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
COE informed that the exams went off smoothly without any issues.

Chandigarh, June 28: – A meeting of Apni Mandi and Day Market Committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairpersonship of Smt. Chanderawati Shukla, councillor and attended other members of committee namely Smt. Sunita Dhawan, Sh. Jagtar Singh, Sh. Gurpreet Singh Dhillon and Sh. Rajesh Kumar and Sh. Ajay Kumar Garg, Executive Engineer, Roads Division-1 along with other officials of MCC.
The committee decided that details of Day Market sites alongwith deployed SDE concerned shall be circulated amongst the committee members.
It has been apprised by the member secretary that digitalisation of the day market has been introduced by Smart City for online payment of day market fee for which POS machine is to be issued to the concerned SDE and JE. All the SDE/JE have been directed to collect the POS machines from CAO office at the earliest for the online payment of day market fee.
The matter regarding starting of day market sites through contractors or licensee by draw of lots was discussed in the meeting but the same was deferred due to Covid-19 Pandemic. The day market will run through departments till further orders.
The committee members told that committee will inspect any day market site in the presence of SDE/JE concerned alongwith Enforcement Inspector concerned for proper supervision.
The committee members asked all the SDE and concerned staff to ensure proper cleanliness of each day market site.

Chandigarh, June 28:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh today called a review meeting regarding performance of PM SVANidhi scheme in the Associations with various Nationalized/Private Banks in which Lead District Manager, PNB/District Coordinator’s/Chief Manager.
Sh. Rohit Gupta, Joint Commissioner and Sh. Vivek Trivedi, SDO-Vendors Cell, MCC also attended the meeting. During the meeting following steps have been discussed for improving the Scheme:-
1. The Worthy Commissioner has directed to conduct Special drive “Sankalp Se Sidhi” from July 01 to August 15, 2021 during which the Banks shall make efforts to disburse all sanctioned applications & sanction all the eligible pending applications.
2. He has also suggested to scrutinize the Returned applications from Banks, so as to remove the deficiencies pointed out by the Banks through the Street vendor’s login and mark the applications to the Banks for further processing.
3. He also emphasized to provide a renewed to digital transactions under ‘Main Bhi Digital 2.0’ campaign and asked all District Coordinator’s/Chief Manager to ensure its proper implementation.
4. Banks must mark the repaid previous disbursed loan of Street Vendors under PM SVANidhi, so as to enable these Street Vendors to apply for the enhanced second tranche of loan of up to Rs. 20,000/-.
5. Banks may enroll the PM SVANidhi beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri JeevanJyoti Bima Yojana (PM-JJBY) & Pradhan MantriSuraksha BimaYoajan (PM-SBY).
Chandigarh, June 28: – A meeting of the Water Supply & Sewerage disposal committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, councillor and attended other members of committee namely Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu, Sh. Jagtar Singh, Smt. Asha Jaswal, Smt. Chanderawati Shukla, Smt. Sunita Dhawan, Sh. Vijay Premy, Executive Engineer, MCPH and other concerned officers of Public Health wing.
The committee members recommended that residents within Lal dora in the villages do not require any type of NOC for issuing new water connection and asked the concerned officers to bring this issue in the General House meeting for final decision.
The Committee members discussed and decided that encroachments in the public toilets shall be removed with the help of police force.
The members asked the officials to ensure all road gullies and manholes to be cleaned well before the onset of monsoon along with the repair and maintenance of the public toilet throughout the city.
In addition to that the committee has accorded approval to the following agenda items:
1. Rough cost estimate for providing and laying of DI pipe line from High Court Chowk to Rock Garden sector-1 and replacement of Damaged AC pipe 100mm i/d with 100mm dia DI pipe line to mitigate the low pressure complaints in Judge Houses, sector 4, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 16.79 lacs
2. Rough cost estimate for the expense of “Upgradation of Sewerage System backside of Sco no. 372-395, Bay shop no. 396-404, sector 37-D, Chandigarh and backside of sco no. 214-226, sector 37-C & D, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 18.55 lacs
3. Rough cost estimate for the work of providing additional 8” I/D sewer line for Public Toilet Block at sector 35-C and booth market of 35-C, Chandigarh (4217- plan STP (sewerage system) at an estimated cost of Rs. 12.20 lacs
4. Rough cost estimate for the work of “Providing and laying of 200mm sewer line to connect left out booth no. 724-738 and shop no 1-54, of Dadumajra Colony, Chandigarh under the jurisdiction of SDE MCPH Sub-Division no. 13, Chandigarh (4217(P) sewerage system) at an estimated cost of Rs. 8.56 lacs.
Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh in an online interaction today with recently promoted PU faculty under Career Advancement Scheme, conveyed his felicitations for their promotions.
PU VC shared that the biggest challenge at present is to improve the PU Rankings and urged all to take concerted steps in improving the same and also, report all achievements, lectures, projects, patents to IQAC to convert every information into quantitative form. He shared his concerns for improving industry linkages with academia, and to identify areas of their interest in which they can excel which will go a long way in improving the perception of PU.
Prof. Kumar informed that the retired faculty of PU are like unprecedented assets and their expertise should be taken for the benefit of PU.
Later on, suggestions were taken from senior officials and the faculty members present in the meeting. Prof. Ashish Jain, Director, IQAC asked for all the information for the forthcoming NAAC visit.
Prof. Anupama Sharma, Dean Alumni Relations(DAR), PU informed that they are developing a website which will have exhaustive database of PU Alumni. She also shared that the office of Alumni Relations is offering small research projects for Social Science and Science Departments.
Prof. Anju Suri, Dean International Students, Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Director, CIL, and various other faculty members gave their fruitful suggestions on various aspects of improvements in the University.

· The committee refused extension regarding stationing of mobile van in sector 19 by Umeed Society and asked the concerned officers to draft a policy in this regard.
· Rough cost estimate for construction of toe wall under existing railing in various parks, sector 39 and 40 under landscaping at an estimated cost of Rs. 29.46 lacs.
· The committee extended the tenure of contractor for lifting of dead animals in MC limits till June 30, 2021 and allotting new contract to the L1 firm from 1st July, 2021 onwards.
· The committee also extended the security guards from M/s Punjab ex-servicemen corporation (S) in the office of Medical Officer of Health.
· The committee also accorded approval to the auction of 4 vehicles of B&R wing, MCC.
· Rough cost estimate for re-carpeting of main roads in vikas nagar, Mauli Jagran at an estimated cost of Rs. 45.40 lacs.
· The committee also approved renovation of office space on 2nd and 3rd floor in new over bridge building, sector 17, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 47.27 lacs.

Chandigarh, June 25:-Chandigarh got best UTs Smart City award and the project of Revitalization of Capitol Complex got 1st prize under “Culture” category awards during a online event organized today to commemorate 6 years of the three transformative urban missions vis. Smart Cities Mission (SCM), AMRUT and PMAY-U, which were launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, on 25th June, 2015.
The event was presided by Shri Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Housing and Urban Affairs and was attended by key urban stakeholders from Central and State Governments including Principal Secretaries of States/UTs, Municipal Commissioners of Cities, and MDs/CEOs of Smart Cities.
Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC-cum-CEO-Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. and Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional CEO, CSCL attended the online event and received the awards.
While sharing the information, CEO, CSCL said that SCM is a transformational Mission aimed to bring about a paradigm shift in the practice of urban development in the country. Chandigarh has participated in the competition and has won the award for best UTs Smart City award and project of revitalization of Capitol Complex (heritage site declared by UNESCO) got 1st prize under “Culture” category. As part of the competition guidelines Chandigarh has identified problem area which has led to creation of this project. Few of the problem statement identified were:
• Restoration Material to match in original colour, texture and appearance
• Production techniques over the years changed
• Original quarries were no longer functional
• Restoration was also required for tourism promotion
He further said that Capitol Complex was the first large scale Restoration Project for Modern Heritage (spread over 100 acres) and as part of the solution to the many issues one of the innovative technique used was application of water repellent chemicals to increase the life of buildings different State Governments were involved, coordination was done at highest level. Also Colour of newer materials were matched by hit and trial by checking combination of various cement and sand from different quarries. Apart from this, detailed Heritage restoration plan was prepared and integrated with tourism promotion plan.

Chandigarh, June 25:-The Union Territory of Chandigarh ranked best in UTs and 2nd in all State and UTs after Orisa ranked 1stfor effective implementation of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) in the country.
In the National rankings released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Chandigarh is placed second during an online event organized today to commemorate 6 years of the three transformative urban missions vis. Smart Cities Mission (SCM), AMRUT and PMAY-U, which were launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, on 25th June, 2015.

While sharing this achievement, the Commissioner said that Atal Mission for Rejuvenation & Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is the first focused national water Mission and was launched on 25th June, 2015 in 500 cities covering 60% of the urban population. All cities having population above 1 lakh are covered under Mission. Providing piped water supply and sewerage & septage management in Mission cities is the major focus of the Mission. Storm water drainage, non-motorized urban transport and green spaces & parks are minor components of Mission.
He said that in Chandigarh, 12 projects costing Rs. 54.09 crores were approved. 100% funding for these projects was provided by MOHUA, GOI. The works such as Laying of new water supply lines in uncovered areas of Deep Complex, Hallomajra, Replacement of PVC water supply lines with DI water supply pipes in Madrasi & Rehabilitation Colony Maloya, Providing water supply lines in Rehabilitation Colony, Dadumajra, Shifting of water supply lines in Indira Colony, Manimajra, Laying of additional sewerage system in Ram Darbar Colony, Development of Green Belt in Sector 48 C&D, Providing rising main from Jandpur to Sector 39, Establishment of water supply testing laboratory. Through these projects, we are able to provide clean and safe drinking water, good sewerage network system to avoid contamination especially in Rehabilitation Colonies and increase number of children friendly green parks in the city.
The Commissioner further said that with all efforts, MC Chandigarh has completed 10 out of 12 works and balance 2 works are likely to be completed by 31.09.2021. About 20000 new sewer and water supply connections have been released so far under AMRUT projects. MC Chandigarh has achieved all the reforms required to be carried out under AMRUT every year since 2015 and has also been given cash incentive of Rs. 195.00 lacs for achieving the milestones with respect to reforms.

To celebrate the International Yoga Day 2021 on the theme, Yoga for wellbeing, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a ”Virtual Yoga Practice for Healthy Well Being” by Yoga Expert & fitness enthusiast, Ms Kanica Nayyar today.
She recapitulated the term YOGA, means ‘unity’ or ‘oneness’ involving different practices to harmonize body and mind. She shared important key points, like prior permission of doctors in case of complicated diseases, each yoga movement involves breathing and one should go slow while practicing yoga to feel the body part and its problem, if any. With live practical session, she highlighted the benefits of Pranayama, Joint movements, and Asanas helpful in day-to-day life, with a special emphasis on predicaments everyone frequently encounters, such as lower back pain, cervical pain, thyroid, joint pains, stress removal, weight reduction and much more.
