Online Workshop on ‘Yoga for Self Management’ Commences in Panjab University

The 14 day  online workshop on ‘Yoga for Self Management’ started in Panjab University, Chandigarh today which is organised by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Swami Vivekananda Studies.This workshop is an effort to enlighten people on the benefits of Yoga in leading a happy and healthy life.

Dr Monika Aggarwal, Associate Professor from University Institute of Applied and Management Science (UIAMS) welcomed the guests and conducted the proceedings. Prof. Renu Thakur, Coordinator ICSVS introduced the speaker. The keynote speaker of the day was Prof. G. D. Sharma, former Chairman of the Department of Yoga Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He is an eminent scholar of Yoga 

studies. He has received  various awards and honours for his commendable work in this field.

 On the first day of the 14 day Workshop , Prof Sharma spoke on the benefits of yoga in the modern times. He started the session  with the chanting of Om and informed that it fills us with positive energy. He stressed that yoga manages our life and by regulating our lifestyle we can minimise our sufferings and lead happy life. Strict discipline is the key to happiness. We should interact with ourself and try to listen to our soul and contemplate on the virtues. He highlighted the importance of regulated breath (pranayama) in our life. ‘Prana’ is the key to both mental and physical health. Mastering ‘Prana’ through yogic techniques can help us control our wandering mind. He introduced the participants to Atha Yoga Anushasnam cited in the Yogasutra of Patanjali. In the modern times we are careless about our lifestyle and have become totally ignorant that vikalpa stops growth of humans ,so we are to control our mind to grow.The pandemics cannot harm us if we are disciplined and adhere to the advisory issued by the health experts.The balanced food does wonders, so we should eat right food at right  time and in right quantity. Yoga is an essence of a happy and successful life. WHO and ICMR are also propagating yoga for good health. Let us lead a disciplined life and keep ourselves free from all kinds of ailments.

 Dr Kuldeep Dhiman, project fellow of ICSVS proposed the vote of thanks. Large number of participants from different parts of the country participated in the Workshop.

7days Faculty Development Program (FDP) organized by Human Resource Development Centre of Panjab University, Chandigarh, concluded with the valedictory address by Dr. Jaideep Arya, Chairman, Haryana Yoga Council, Govt. of Haryana.

Dr. Roshan Lal Coordinator of the program welcomed and introduced the Guest Dr. Jaideep Arya. पंचकुला, 11 दिसंबर- कोविड वेक्सीन आने से पहले सरकार के दिशा निर्देश पर उपायुक्त पंचकुला श्री मुकेश कुमार आहूजा ने स्वास्थ्य विभाग पंचकुला की तैयारियों की समीक्षा की तथा कोविड-19 से आमजनों की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने को लेकर जिला टास्क फोर्स के अधिकारियों को जरूरी निर्देश दिए। इसके अलावा उपायुक्त ने कोल्ड चेन मैनेजमेंट, डाटा बेस संधारण, वैक्सीनेटर के डाटा बेस संधारण तथा अन्य महत्वपूर्ण आंकड़ों के संधारण की समीक्षा कर स्वास्थय विभाग के अधिकारियों को आवश्यक निर्देश दिए । उपायुक्त ने बताया कि कोविद वैक्सीन को लेकर जरूरी कोल्ड चेन मैनेजमेंट, वैक्सीन भंडारण, और वितरण से जुड़ीं तैयारियां शुरू कर दी गई हैं और इसके भंडारण के लिए कोल्ड स्टोरेज की व्यवस्था भी की जा चुकी है, ताकि वैक्सीन को एक नियत तापमान पर संरक्षित रखा जा सके। कोरोना वैक्सीन के स्टोरेज के लिए सही व्यवस्था होने और कोल्ड स्टोरेज का कामकाज सुचारु होना महत्वपूर्ण है।

सिविल सर्जन पंचकुला डॉ जसजीत कौर ने बताया कि कोरोना का टीका लगाने और कोल्ड चेन की हैंडलिग और प्रबंधन के लिए कर्मियों को जरूरी प्रशिक्षण दिया जाएगा और बताया की जिले में वैक्सीन भंडारण के लिए 16 कोल्ड चेन पॉइंट मोजूद है और इसके अतिरिक्त सैक्टर 20 पंचकुला की डिस्पेन्सरी में भी कोल्ड चैन पॉइंट स्थापित किया गया है । साथ ही आवश्यक व्यवस्था एवं उपकरण जैसे आईएलआर, डीप फ्रीजर, कोल्ड चेन हैंडलर, वैक्सीनेटर आदि की उपलब्धता के संबंध में विस्तार से बताया और सभी संबंधित कर्मचारियों को टीका और कोल्ड चेन हैंडलिग प्रबंधन में प्रशिक्षित किया जाएगा ।

उपायुक्त ने बताया कि जिले में कोविड-19 की वैक्सीन लगाने के प्रथम चरण के अंतर्गत 128 (35 सरकारी व 93 निजी) अस्पतालों का डाटा प्राप्त हुआ है। जिनमे से 5086 स्वास्थय कर्मियों का डाटा कोविन पोर्टल पर अपलोड किया जा चुका है और बाकी का डाटा जल्द अपलोड किया जाएगा। इसके अंतर्गत 3371 सरकारी हैल्थ कर्मचारी शामिल है। इसके अलावा प्रथम चरण के अंतर्गत 2307 प्राइवेट स्वास्थ्य कर्मियों का भी डाटा प्राप्त हुआ है और इनमे से 2200 कर्मियों का डाटा अपलोड किया जा चुका है ।

Sanitation committee meeting held

Chandigarh, December 11:- A meeting of Sanitation committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today in the conference hall under the chairmanship of Sh. Rajesh Kumar and attended by other member councilors of MCC namely Sh. Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, Smt. Heera Negi, Smt. Asha Jaswal, Smt. During the meeting various issues related proper sanitation in the city were discussed. The committee discussed and recommended that the additional door to door waste collecting vehicles be deployed in the residential areas of city so that segregated waste be collected properly and the enrolment of the door to door waste collectors be done for engaging them into service with proper documentation as per the notified norms.

The committee also decided to extend the tenure of contract period of tractor trollys and chain dozer for six months. In addition to that the committee recommended to hire vehicles for Chief Sanitary Inspectors on rent basis for area inspection and routine job work in their respective areas.

Chandigarh, December 11:- A meeting of Environment & City Beautification committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today in the conference hall under the chairmanship of Sh. During the meeting various issues related to proper maintenance of parks and green belts were discussed and the committee recommended an agenda item to enhance the maintenance charges for well maintained parks/gardens by the Resident Welfare Associations and the same referred to General House for final decision.

The committee asked the concerned engineers to write a letter to the Electricity Department, UT, Chandigarh to remove the horticulture waste immediate after pruning of trees nearby the electricity wires throughout city.

The committee accorded approval to purchase 10 trollys for the use in horticulture wing for lifting of waste on daily basis. The members asked the concerned officers to prepare action taken report for two years and table it in the next meeting of the committee.

पंचकूला 7,   दिसंबर-           गौरव शर्मा संयुक्त निदेशक, जिला उद्योग केन्द्र, पंचकूला, की अध्यक्षता में जिला पंचकूला में प्रधानमंत्री रोजगार सृजन कार्यक्रम की प्रगति की समीक्षा बैठक मुख्य जिला प्रबन्धकअग्रणी बैंक, पी.ऐन.बी सेक्टर-5, पंचकुला में बुलाई गई। इस बैठक में श्री बी.पी सिँह, मुख्य जिला प्रबन्धक, अग्रणी बैंक व 12बैंको के प्रतिनिधियों ने शिरकत की। बैठक की शुरूआत में अध्यक्ष श्री गौरव शर्माजी ने सभी उपस्थित सदस्यों को प्रधानमंत्री रोजगार सृजन कार्यक्रम के बारे में अवगत कराते हुए बताया गया कि इस योजना के तहत योग्य व्यक्ति को अपना कार्य शुरू करने हेतु अधिकतम 25 लाख रूपये की राशि मैन्युफैक्चरिंग क्षेत्र में व 10 लाख रूपए तक की राशि सर्विस क्षेत्र में बैंकोंद्वारा प्रदान करवाई  जाती है। जिसमें15-35 प्रतिशत तक की सब्सिडी का प्रावधान है। इसके अतिरिक्त, उपायुक्त महोदय पंचकूला द्वारा दिनांक18.09.2020 को दिये गए निर्देशों से अवगत कराते हुए यह भी  बताया कि जिला पंचकूला की प्रगति को बढानेके लिए ‘‘एक प्रस्ताव प्रति बैंक शाखा योजना‘‘ के अनुसार प्रधानमंत्री रोजगार सृजन कार्यक्रम के तहत जिले की सभी बैंक शाखाएं कम से कम एक लोन प्रस्ताव जिला उद्योग केन्द्र, पंचकूलामें भेजना सुनिश्चित करेंगी। उपस्थित सभी सदस्यगणों ने इस प्रस्ताव का स्वागत करतेहुए आश्वासन दिया कि इस योजना की अनुपालना सुनिश्चित की जाएगी। अंत में श्री बी.पी सिँह, मुख्य जिला प्रबन्धक ने सभी सदस्यों का धन्यावाद किया।

To spread  awareness about the need for positive mental health in times of Covid-19 pandemic, Panjab University  has launched  a series of lectures by eminent psychologists, according to Prof Seema Vinayak, Chairperson of Psychology Department and in-charge mental health under National Flagship Programme.

As part of this initiative, Professor Indranee Phookan Borooah of Gauhati University addressed a national webinar on impact of adverse childhood experiences on mental health in which she emphasized on  its long-term effects that  can range from physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, to divorce of parents, or captivity of caregiver. “It can affect the biomedical health of the individual, illicit drug use, stability of relationships, performance at work” she added. A trauma-informed school system  and caretaker’s training can help children to overcome their problems and achieve certain milestones.

आम आदमी पार्टी आगामी 8 दिसंबर के किसानों के  भारत बंद को अपना पूरा समर्थन देगी और उस दिन देश भर में किसानों के समर्थन में जगह जगह प्रदर्शन करेगी। पार्टी का कहना है कि आज देश के आम आदमी की लड़ाई लड़ रहे किसान को आम आदमी के भी समर्थन् की जरुरत है और उसे किसानों का समर्थन करना भी चाहिए,क्योंकि यह लड़ाई अकेले किसान की नहीं है, बलिक आने वाले समय में यह आम आदमी की लड़ाई हो जायेगी।  पार्टी का कहना है कि अगर सरकार ने यह तीनों बिल वापिस नहीं लिये तो देश के बड़े बिजनेस घराने किसान की कम दाम की फसल खरीदकर उसे कई कई गुणा ऊंचे दामों पर बेचेंगे। ऐसे में आम आदमी को रोटी भी नसीब नहीं होगी। यही सोच लेकर आप के राष्ट्रीय संयोजक एवं दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने किसानों के इस आंदोलन में कंधे से कंधा मिलाकर चलने का फैसला किया है और दिल्ली में किसानों को हरसंभव मदद कर रहें हैं।

यह घोषणा आज यहां आम आदमी पार्टी के हरियाणा के संयोजक एवं दिल्ली से राज्यसभा सांसद डा. सुशील गुप्ता ने पत्रकारों को संबोधित करते हुए की। उन्होंने कहा कि केंद्र की भाजपा सरकार ने किसानों के साथ ही नहीं बल्कि देश की जनता के साथ धोखा करते हुए गुपचुप तरीके से कृषि विरोधी बिल पारित करवा दिये। अब जब देश का किसान अपनी किसानी बचाने व देश को भुखमरी की नौबत से बचाने के लिए लड़ाई लड़ रहा है तो भाजपा वाले उन्हें न सिर्फ आंतकी,खालिस्तानी बता रहे हैं,बल्कि उनके साथ वैसा व्यावहार भी कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि देश की जनता और किसानों की इस मांग के आगे सरकार को झुकना ही पड़ेगा और ये बिल वापिस लेने ही पड़ेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि आज सरकार किसानों से बात तो कर रही है,मगर उनकी बात सुनने की बजाये अपनी मांग मनवाने पर अड़ी हुई है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री मन की बात में अपने तीनपों बिलों को सही बताते हैं तो फिर वे किसानों की समस्या का हल कैसे निकालेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि दूसरी ओर आप के राष्ट्रीय संयासेजक अरविंद केजरीवाल ने केंद्रग सरकार द्वारा किसानों को कैद करने के लिए जब दिल्ली सरकार से दिल्ली के स्टेडियम अस्थायी  जेल बनाने के लिए मांगे तो उन्होंने इसके लिए केंद्र सरकार को साफ मना कर दिया था कि अपनी बात कहने व केंद्र सरकार के किसी भी गल्त फैसले का शांतिपूर्वक ढंग से विरोध करने का किसानों का संवैधानिक हक है। उन्हें नहीं रोका जा सकता और वह इस मामले में किसानों के साथ हैं। उन्होंने पंचकूला नगर निगम के चुनावों में चुनाव लडऩे के इच्छुक पार्टी के नेताओं से कहा कि पर्टी यह चुनाव पार्टी सिंबल पर नहीं लड़ेगी, क्येांकि इन छोटे चुनावों में वे आपसी भाईचारा खराब नहीं करेंगे। कल को सबको साथ मिलकर चलना है। ऐसे में जो कोई भी चुनाव लडऩा चाहेगा वह निर्दलिय रुप से चुनाव लड़ेगा परंतु पार्टी उस उम्मीदवार का पूरा पूरा समर्थन करेगी। उन्होंने कालका के गांवों रजिस्ट्रयों पर रोक लगाने के सरकार के फैसले की आलोचना करते हुए कहा कि यह इलाके साथ पूरी तरह से भेदभाव है तथा इस रोक को तुरंत प्रभाव से हटाया जाना चाहिए।

Society for Promotion of Science & Technology in India (SPSTI) in association with the Chandigarh Chapter of NASI (National Academy of Sciences India), Technology Enabling Centre (TEC), University Institute of Engineering & Technology and Panjab University Alumni Association Chandigarh organised an online memorial meeting in honour of the Father of Indian IT Industry, Padma Bhushan Dr. F.C. Kohli, Founder and first C.E.O. of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), who left for his heavenly abode on November 26, 2020. 

The web assembly took place today at 11:00 AM to pay tribute to this preeminent alumnus of the University of Punjab, Lahore (a precursor of Panjab University, Chandigarh).

The meeting was steered by Prof. Keya Dharmvir, General Secretary of SPSTI. 

Prof. Arun K. Grover, former Vice Chancellor of Panjab University spoke on the background of the memorial meeting, highlighting Dr. Kohli’s association with Tata Consultancy Service and TIFR (Tata Instt. Of Fundamental Res., Mumbai) and his work with Prof. Yash Pal, Prof. Narasimhan, Prof. M. K. G. Menon, Dr. Mathai Joseph and Dr. Kehav Nori. Prof. Rajesh Kochhar, an eminent historian of Science, presented a brief profile of Dr. Kohli including his personal and professional life. There were messages from Prof. Raj Kumar, VC, PU and Prof. Kesav V. Nori, IIIT Hyderabad, who was earlier a senior functionary at TCS, highlighting his role as a great mentor and visionary.

Shri Som Mittal, former Chairman NASSCOM, paid his tribute stating him being an engineer at heart and being a great student as well as a great teacher throughout his life. Dr. Ananth Krishnan who is Chief Technology Officer at TCS read the official statement on the great loss and said greatest tribute to him will be if we can live up to his vision for the growth of nation. Shri Rajiv Vaishnav shared how his every meeting with Dr. Kohli was focussed on what better NASSCOM can do to, showing his passion for nation. There was also a message from Prof. Shri S. K. Munjal from Hero Enterprises indicating both computer and software industry would not have been possible without Mr Kohli’s interventions. Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, shared his personal experiences and the supportive role played by Dr. Kohli. Prof. Manoj Arora, former Director, PEC shared his vision that science curriculum including mathematics should be revised every year. Prof. Sarit K. Das, Director IIT, Ropar also shared how passionate Dr. Kohli was with the development of nation and stated his words “India has no damn business to remain poor”. Prof. Dheeraj Sanghi, Director, PEC, Dr. Manu Sharma, UIET, Prof. Renu Wig, former Director, UIET, Prof. R. K. Kohli, Secretary, Chandigarh chapter of NASI, Prof. Deepti Gupta, Dean Alumni Relations, Panjab University, Mr. Akhil from MP and Prof. G. S. Kainth, ex Faculty, IIT Kanpur, also paid their tribute by sharing their experiences. The meeting was also attended by Prof. R. P. Bambah, former VC, Panjab University and a contemporary of Dr. F. C. Kohli in Lahore, with more than 200 participants on zoom and about 222 on facebook page of SPSTI. 

The meeting ended with vote of thanks by Shri Dharam Vir, IAS (Retd.) & President SPSTI, to all the present for the memorial meeting remembering Dr. Kohli as a legend who not only had passion for developing technology in country but also had similar love for academics
