Chandigarh, April 25:- Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today visited Sector 55 and 56 to take stock of ongoing development works alongwith to see the issues of area residents.

The ‘on foot’ visit was started at 6.30 am in the morning. The Commissioner was accompanied by Sh. Manaur, area councilor, chief engineer, all Superintending Engineers and concerned Executive Engineers, SDEs, Junior Engineers of MCC, office bearers of Resident Welfare Associations and local residents.

The visit was started from Sector 55, where the Commissioner asked the SE, B&R to take up the matter of land demarcation for developing community centre in sector 54 opposite sector 55 on V-3 road. She also asked the B&R engineers to write about the provision of bus queue shelter on V-3 road dividing sectors 55/54.

The commissioner asked the public health engineers to make provisions of road gullies wherever required in the internal roads and proper cleaning of existing road gullies be done well before monsoon. She said that speed breaker be provided on internal road from V-3 side to Sector 55.

She directed the SE B&R to make provision of house indicator boards in sector 55 and asked the horticulture wing for proper cleaning of parks besides repair of railings, painting children play equipments and pruning of trees. She asked the engineers for leveling of low lying areas inside the park with proper landscaping and developing flower beds in the park.

The Commissioner directed the enforcement wing to remove temporary encroachments from the road berms and other road side areas. She asked the B&R engineers to take up matter of cleaning of reserve land/vacant land lying between sector 55 and Palsora and check feasibility to develop green belt and take up the matter with Administration for proper demarcation of the site.

Keeping in view the condition of park at Palsora, the commissioner orders for renovation of toilet block, repair of footpath and swings including other children play equipments in the park. She asked the engineers to remove overhead cables without tagging and issue challans to the violators.

The Commissioner asked the Chief Engineer to take up the matter of closed civil dispensary with Director Health Services.

On the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day, Panjab University Alumni Association in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, Panjab University organised a virtual book launch event to launch a book named “Dear Mama: An Immigrant’s Secret Cry” written by Dr. Shailja Sharma, alumna of Department of Psychology, Panjab University. Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Dean of Research, PU was the Chief Guest for the event. The event was also attended by the Chairperson of the Dept. of Psychology, Dr. Roshan Lal, senior faculty members from Department of Psychology, author of the book, Dr Shailja Sharma, one of the reviewer of the book, Dr. Meenakshi Mohan and over 50 professors and students from university departments.

“Dear Mama: An Immigrant’s Secret Cry” is a book which depicts secret tear flowing from an immigrant’s heart. It’s the tear that is hidden from mama for many years while settling in a land away from home. It feels better when it finally flows. These poems depict lacks and memories, struggles and hardships, as well as hopes, promises, potential, and empowerment. 

By giving a brief introduction of the book, Prof. Anupama Sharma, Dean of Alumni Relations, Panjab University started the event and welcomed all the attendees and chief guests. She introduced the genesis of of the Book and Copyright day and apprised the audience that UNESCO celebrates the day to pay honour to three major sectors of the publishing industry – publishers, booksellers and libraries. She further said that during most parts of the last two years when most countries have seen periods of confinement and people have had to limit their time spent outside, books have proven to be powerful tools to combat isolation, reinforced ties between people, while stimulating our minds and creativity. Through reading and assimilation, we can open ourselves to others despite distance, and we can travel thanks to our figments of imagination.

The Chief Guest of the event, Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Dean Research, Panjab University congratulated Dr. Shailja for her book launch and exquisitely summarised the book elucidating its title. He said that through such book launch events, we not only launch a book but also launch an author who will gift us more amazing books in future. According to Prof. Sudhir, Shabad (word) is Pradhan (important). Everyone in this world has access to words but only a few know how to get energy & enlightenment from these words. Prof. Sudhir Kumar further emphasised that there are 2 primary sources of emotions, love and compassion and Pravaas (Immigration) in Indian tradition is a source of grief. This grief is important to create a new imaginary home. At the end of his address, Prof. Sudhir launched the book “Dear Mama: An Immigrant’s Secret Cry” and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Shailja.

The author of the book, Dr. Shailja Sharma gave an emotional address with a thankful note. She shared her thoughts behind writing this book and said that many people don’t have time to listen to their emotions. This book is a compilation of emotions from her heart and she is overwhelmed by the feedback received from people. Dr. Shailja got emotional at the end of her address while reading a few verses from her book.

Dr. Meenakshi Mohan, one of the reviewer of the book also read some verses from the book and said that this book resonates with her own experience. Dr Meenakshi applauds the imagination of the author and said that this is a positive message of hope that parents give to their children. This book is a collection of poems which accurately depicts the mindset of immigrants who, despite having embraced a new identity, are always reminiscing on their early lives.

Chairperson of Department of Psychology, Panjab University, Dr. Roshan Lal also congratulated his department’s alumnus, Dr. Shailja and encouraged her to come up with such more amazing works. He said that through his or her imagination only, a poet an reach anywhere anytime.

In the end, Prof. Anupama Sharma, Dean Alumni Relations, Panjab University presented the vote of thanks and thanked Dr. Shalija for choosing the platform of Panjab University of Alumni Association for her book launch.

A two day International  introductory conference on the Fundamentals in Craniofacial Surgery was held under the aegis of AOCMF, a global educational platform for the craniomaxillofacial, plastic surgeons and related specialities at the Golden Jubilee House ,Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The conference was attended by more than 80 trainees and surgeons from Italy and  more than 10 states of our country.

The well curated program was conducted with the help of experienced international and national faculty from the filed of oral surgery, plastic surgery and other related fields.

The participants appreciated the pearls of wisdom from the eminent speakers.

World Earth Day was organized by Florence Nightingale Hall (GH-8) and Neerja Bhanot Hall (GH-10) of Panjab University, Chandigarh on 22^th April 2022. Dr. Simran Kaur (Warden GH-8) and Dr. Varinder Kaur (Warden, GH-10) celebrated the special day with the hostel residents in the hostel premises. Residents actively participated in slogan writing and wrote various slogans to preserve the mother earth. A plant adoption drive was also organized in which hostel residents adopted the plants and took pledge to take care the adopted plants. Some of the names of students who adopted plants are Parul, Manisha and Manya which was very encouraging for the other students who were present during the celebration.

-सिंचाई एवं जल संसाधन विभाग के अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव श्री देवेंदर सिंह ने हरियाणा सरकार द्वारा भूजल स्तर को सुधारने की दिशा में की गई विभिन्न पहलों पर की चर्चा

– यह कार्यशाला अटल भूजल और अन्य इनलाइन विभागों के जमीनी स्तर के कार्यकर्ताओं को एक साथ लाने में होगी सहायक-केशनी आनंद अरोड़ा

पंचकूला, 23 अप्रैल- विश्व बैंक मिशन के हरियाणा दौरे की कड़ी में अटल भूजल योजना की एक बहु-हितधारक राज्य स्तरीय कार्यशाला का आयोजन पंचकूला के सेक्टर 1 स्थित पीडब्ल्यूडी विश्राम गृह में किया गया।
इस कार्यशाला में सिंचाई एवं जल संसाधन विभाग हरियाणा के अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव श्री देवेंदर सिंह, सत्या प्रिया, कंट्री लीड (अटल भूजल योजना) – विश्व बैंक, श्रीमती केशनी आनंद अरोड़ा, अध्यक्ष, हयिाणा जल संसाधन प्राधिकरण ने विशेष रूप से शिरकत की।

इस अवसर पर सिंचाई एवं जल संसाधन विभाग के अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव श्री देवेंदर सिंह ने कार्यशाला को संबोधित करते हुए हरियाणा सरकार द्वारा भूजल स्तर को सुधारने की दिशा में की गई विभिन्न पहलों पर चर्चा की। उन्होंने भूजल प्रबंधन को बढ़ावा देने के लिए समुदाय-आधारित संस्थानों को मजबूत करने के साथ-साथ  जल उपयोग दक्षता में सुधार और भूजल पुनर्भरण को प्रोत्साहित करने पर बल दिया।   उन्होंने कहा कि अटल जल कार्यक्रम न केवल राज्य संस्थानों के निर्माण पर केंद्रित है, बल्कि राजकोषीय विकेंद्रीकरण की दिशा में भारत सरकार के कदम का भी समर्थन करता है। अटल जल योजना के तहत धन केंद्र सरकार से राज्यों को और वहां से उपयुक्त कार्यान्वयन स्तरों (जिलों, ब्लॉकों, ग्राम पंचायतों और लाभार्थियों) तक प्रवाहित किया जाता है।

अपने स्वागतीय भाषण में श्रीमती केशनी आनंद अरोड़ा, अध्यक्ष हयिाणा जल संसाधन प्राधिकरण ने कहा कि जल प्रबंधन पर यह कार्यशाला अटल भूजल और अन्य इनलाइन विभागों के जमीनी स्तर के कार्यकर्ताओं को एक साथ लाने के लिए आयोजित की गई है, जिनकी नीतियों को अभिसरण के माध्यम से अटल जल योजना में लाया जा सकता है। उन्होंने इस कार्यक्रम से लक्ष्य प्राप्ति के लिए सामुदायिक भागीदारी पर भी बल दिया।
कृषि विभाग के निदेशक श्री हरदीप सिंह ने ‘मेरा पानी मेरी विरासत’ योजना के बारे में जानकारी देते हुए कहा कि इस योजना के तहत किसानों को धान की फसल की बजाए गैर-धान फसलों को अपनाने पर 7000 रुपये प्रति हेक्टेयर प्रोत्साहन राशि दी जाती है। इस योजना के तहत सरकार फसल विविधीकरण को बढ़ावा देने के लिए अन्य फसलों के लिए एमएसपी भी सुनिश्चित करती है।

डॉ सतबीर सिंह कादियान, ईआईसी-कम-परियोजना निदेशक (अटल भूजल योजना – हरियाणा) – सिंचाई और जल संसाधन विभाग ने कार्यक्रम की उपलब्धियों के बारे में जानकारी दी। उन्होंने बताया कि हरियाणा ने 1300 ग्राम पंचायतों की जल सुरक्षा योजना तैयार की है।

सत्य प्रिया, कंट्री लीड (अटल भूजल योजना) – विश्व बैंक ने अटल जल हरियाणा टीम द्वारा किए गए प्रयासों की सराहना की। उन्होंने हरियाणा में भूजल की कमी को नियंत्रित करने के लिए विश्व बैंक से पूर्ण समर्थन का आश्वासन दिया। उन्होंने फील्ड टीम को बाजरा, तिलहन और दालों जैसी जल-संवेदनशील फसलों के अनुकूलन पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने का भी सुझाव दिया।

कार्यशाला में, अटल भूजल योजना के लिए एक तकनीकी सहायता एजेंसी पीपल्स साइंस इंस्टीट्यूट द्वारा तैयार किए गए कुल 8 मानक संचालन प्रक्रिया (एसओपी) मैनुअल का अनावरण गणमान्य व्यक्तियों द्वारा किया गया। तकनीकी सहायता एजेंसी के समन्वयक डॉ अनिल गौतम और टीम लीडर श्री महेंद्र वाधवानी ने कहा कि ये एसओपी कुशल निगरानी और मूल्यांकन दृष्टिकोण को अपनाकर वांछित लक्ष्य प्राप्त करने में राज्य की मदद करेंगे।  
अटल भूजल योजना एक भागीदारी भूजल प्रबंधन योजना है जो केंद्र सरकार और विश्व बैंक द्वारा समर्थित है और हरियाणा सरकार द्वारा लागू की गई है। इस योजना का मुख्य उद्देश्य हरियाणा में भूजल संसाधनों का हाइड्रोजियोलॉजिकल डेटा नेटवर्क बनाना है। साथ ही, राज्य में भूजल संसाधनों के प्रबंधन के लिए सामुदायिक संस्थानों का निर्माण करना है।
इस अवसर पर कृषि विभाग के निदेशक श्री हरदीप सिंह, ईआईसी सह परियोजना निदेशक (अटल भूजल योजना – हरियाणा) डॉ सतबीर सिंह कादियान, सिंचाई और जल संसाधन विभाग के निदेशक श्री उमेश बालपाण्डे, अटल भूजल योजना सहित राज्य परियोजना प्रबंधन इकाई के तकनीकी विशेषज्ञ, 18 लाइन विभागों के विभागाध्यक्ष, 14 जिला नोडल अधिकारी और अन्य अधिकारी भी उपस्थित थे।
