*MCC Fire and Rescue Committee reviews monsoon preparedness and Fire Safety initiatives*
*Chandigarh, July 18:-* The Fire and Emergency Committee of the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh convened its meeting today under the chairmanship of Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu and attended by committee members Sh. Anup Gupta, Sh. Jasmanpreet Singh, Smt. Mohinder Kaur, Ms. Shashi Vasundhara, Joint Commissioner-cum-Chief Fire Officer, and senior Fire Department officials.
The agenda of the meeting included a detailed discussion on the proposed Fire Act and the implementation of a third party Audit system to enhance fire safety compliance across the city. Committee members shared their valuable suggestions to strengthen fire prevention mechanisms and to ensure greater accountability.
Chairman and committee members were also briefed on the monsoon preparedness measures undertaken by the Fire & Rescue Services of MC Chandigarh. The department has strategically deployed a sufficient number of fire tenders at all fire stations for prompt dewatering operations in case of waterlogging. Furthermore, seven Flood Control Rooms have been established at each of the seven fire stations to monitor and respond effectively during heavy rains.
The Committee expressed satisfaction with the readiness of the Fire department and emphasized the need for continued vigilance, timely action, and public awareness to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season. The Chairman appreciated the proactive efforts of the fire personnel and urged the department to maintain high operational standards.
