*Chandigarh, September 25:-* Reiterating its commitment to the well-being of its Safaimitras and improving their working conditions, who are an integral part of the city’s sanitation workforce, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has provided them the state-of-the-art Sanitation Booth in village Sarangpur.

City Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta formally inaugurated the sanitation booth under Swachhata Pakhwara -“Swachhata Hi Sewa” campaign in the presence of Municipal Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Area Councillor Sh. Ram Chander Yadav and prominent persons of local area. The Mayor said that this initiative was a major boost to the morale of the safaimitras, who have been working tirelessly to keep the city clean despite challenging circumstances.

He said that the newly inaugurated Sanitation Booth is equipped with modern facilities that provided a safe and healthy environment for the safaimitras to carry out their routine job work. This booth has been designed to provide shelter from extreme weather conditions, protecting them from harsh sunlight, heavy rains, and biting cold during winters.

He said that the booth has also been equipped with necessary amenities such as drinking water, first aid kits, and proper lighting, ensuring that the safaimitras can work comfortably throughout the day. The new Sanitation Booth is a testament to MCC’s commitment to providing better working conditions for its safaimitras, said the Mayor.

The Mayor further said that it demonstrates the MCC’s recognition of their hard work and dedication toward maintaining the city’s cleanliness. By providing them with modern facilities, MCC aims to enhance their productivity and motivation, ultimately leading to improved sanitation services for the residents of Chandigarh, the Mayor said.

The Mayor also emphasized the importance of the role played by safaimitras in keeping the city clean and tidy. He expressed gratitude to the safai mitras for their relentless efforts and assured them that MCC will continue to support and empower them in every possible way.

17 अक्तूबर 2023 से 30 नवंबर 2023 तक किया जाएगा फोटोयुक्त मतदाता सूचियों के विशेष संक्षिपत पुनरीक्षण का कार्यक्रम-जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी

-20 अक्तूबर, 2023 तक शिविरों का आयोजन कर मतदाता सूूची में दर्ज किए जाएंगे मतदाताओं के नाम

पंचकूला, 25 सितंबर- भारत निर्वाचन आयोग के निर्देशानुसार फोटोयुक्त मतदाता सूचियों के विशेष संक्षिपत पुनरीक्षण का कार्यक्रम 1 जनवरी 2024 को क्वालिफाइंग तिथि मानकर 17 अक्तूबर 2023 से 30 नवंबर 2023 तक किया जाना है। इस दौरान 18 या इससे अधिक आयु के ऐसे व्यक्ति जिनका नाम मतदाता सूची में शामिल नहीं है, को मतदाता सूची में शामिल किया जाएगा।

उपायुक्त एवं जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी श्री सुशील सारवान ने बताया कि इस कार्य के लिए जिला पंचकूला के अंतर्गत आने वाले  शिक्षण संस्थानों में जिला निर्वाचन कार्यालय द्वारा 20 अक्तूबर, 2023 तक शिविरों का आयोजन किया जाएगा।

यहाँ आयोजित किए जयेंगे शिविर

उन्होंने बताया कि राजकीय महाविद्यालय सेक्टर-1 पंचकूला में 28 सितंबर तक इस शिविर का आयोजन किया जाएगा। इसी प्रकार राजकीय महाविद्यालय रायपुररानी तथा राजकीय पोलटैक्निक, नानकपुर में 29 सितंबर तक शिविर आयोजित किए जाएंगे। उन्होंने बताया कि राजकीय महाविद्यालय बरवाला, राजकीय महाविद्यालय कालका तथा राजकीय पोलटैक्निक सेक्टर 26 में 3 अक्तूबर से 6 अक्तूबर तक जबकि राजकीय महिला महाविद्यालय सेक्टर 14, बी.आर.एस. डैन्टल महाविद्यालय जलौली तथा राजकीय औद्योगिक प्रशिक्षण संस्थान बिटना पिंजौर में 9 से 13 अक्तूबर तक इन शिविरों का आयोजन किया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि राजकीय औद्योगिक प्रशिक्षण संस्थान सेक्टर 14, राजकीय महिला पोलटैक्निक मोरनी तथा राजकीय महाविद्यालय मोरनी में 16 से 20 अक्तूबर तक इन शिविरों का आयोजन कर मतदाता जिनके नाम अभी तक मतदाता सूची में दर्ज नहीं है, के नाम मतदाता सूची में शामिल किए जाएंगे।

MCC for strengthening waste management among street vendors*

*Mayor distributes twin litter bins to registered street food vendors*

*Chandigarh, September 25:-* To strengthen waste management among street vendors, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh provided twin litter bins to its registered Street Food Vendors during the Swacchhta Pakhwada 2023 – Swachhata hi Seva campaign.

Aimed to raise awareness and sensitize vendors about waste segregation at their vending sites, the City Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta and Municipal Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, distributed twin litter bins to its registered vendors at MCC office premises, Sector 17, here today.

While sharing about this initiative, the Mayor said that to support the vendors in their waste management efforts, MCC has procured an impressive 2500 pairs of twin bins in blue and green variants. These bins will ensure that approximately 2500 registered street vendors of Sector-15 have the necessary tools to actively segregate their food waste.

He said that every citizen has a role to play in maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of the city. By empowering street vendors with twin litter bins, the MCC encouraging them to actively contribute to waste segregation efforts, setting a positive example for the entire community, said the Mayor.

Municipal Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the significance of the initiative, Waste segregation is a crucial step towards building a sustainable future for Chandigarh. Through this distribution of twin litter bins, we aim to create awareness and encourage street food vendors to become catalysts for change in waste management practices, she added.

She said that this distribution of twin litter bins aligns with MC Chandigarh’s commitment to the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (RRR), contributing to the overall sustainability of the city. MC Chandigarh’s dedication to adopting a sustainable urban agenda serves as an inspiring example for other cities striving to create a greener future.

She further said that MCC remains steadfast in its commitment to the development and betterment of the city. With a focus on sustainable practices and citizen engagement, the Municipal Corporation continues to work tirelessly to ensure a clean, green, and livable city for all its residents.
