चंडीगढ़, 5 फरवरी- हरियाणा के राज्यपाल श्री बंडारू दत्तात्रेय ने कहा है की इलेक्ट्रिक वाहन ही हमारे भविष्य के वाहन हैं, उन्हे प्राथमिकता देनी होगी।

       राज्यपाल रविवार को चंडीगढ़ में पीएचडी चैंबर ऑफ कॉमर्स द्वारा आयोजित किये जा रहे ग्रीन मोबिलिटी इलेक्ट्रिक व्हीकल एक्सपो के समापन समारोह में बतौर मुख्य अतिथि बोल रहे थे। इसमें हरियाणा, पंजाब, चंडीगढ़ के ई वी निर्माता, खरीददार तथा उद्योगपति भाग ले रहे थे। इस दौरान उन्होंने इलेक्ट्रिक कार, बस, ट्रैक्टर , स्कूटी तथा अन्य वाहनों का निरीक्षण भी किया। उन्होंने कहा कि आज वाहन, प्रत्येक व्यक्ति की आवश्यकता बन चुका है। इसके कारण देश में प्रतिवर्ष लगभग 1.8 करोड़ नए वाहन सडक़ों पर नजर आ रहे हैं, जबकि पूरी दुनिया में साढ़े छ: करोड़ से अधिक नए वाहनों की बिक्री होती है।

       राज्यपाल ने कहा कि इन वाहनों से निकलने वाला धुआं तथा हानिकारक गैसें, पर्यावरण को दूषित करती हैं। इन समस्याओं से निपटने के लिए इलेक्ट्रिक वाहन एक अच्छा विकल्प है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत सरकार वर्ष 2030 तक सरकारी वाहनों को इलेक्ट्रिक वाहनों में बदलने की ओर अग्रसर है। केन्द्र सरकार ने इस वर्ष 2023-24 के बजट में इलेक्ट्रिक वाहनों पर कैस्टम ड्यूटी को 21 प्रतिशत से घटा 13 प्रतिशत कर दिया है। केन्द्र सरकार ने नई स्क्रैपिंग पॉलिसी शुरू की हैं, इसके तहत 15 वर्ष पुरानी गाड़ी को स्क्रैप किया जाएगा, इसमें वाहन मालिकों को प्रोत्साहन देने की व्यवस्था है। देश में इस समय करीब एक करोड़ से अधिक गाड़ियां स्क्रैपिंग योग्य है।

       श्री दत्तात्रेय ने कहा कि हरियाणा सरकार भी इस दिशा में उचित कदम उठा रही है। सरकार ने भी  इलेक्ट्रिक वाहन नीति 2022 को मंजूरी दी है। इसके लिए एक ऑनलाइन पोर्टल भी लॉन्च किया है। हरियाणा सरकार ने सूक्ष्म से मेगा उद्योगों के प्रोत्साहन के लिए 15 लाख से 20 करोड़ रुपए तक की सब्सिडी देने का प्रावधान किया है। इससे पहले राज्यपाल का यहां पहुंचने पर स्वागत करते हुए पीएचडीसीसीआई हरियाणा चैप्टर के चेयर प्रणव गुप्ता ने कहा कि चैंबर द्वारा इस तरह के एक्सपो हरियाणा के अन्य शहरों में भी लगाए जाएंगे।

       भारत सरकार के भारी उद्योग मंत्रालय के संयुक्त सचिव आई.पी.एस. हनीफ कुरैशी ने कहा कि पूरी दुनिया मे इलेक्ट्रिक वाहनों को लागू किया जा रहा है। भारत सरकार इस दिशा में तेजी से आगे बढ़ रही है। हरियाणा परिवहन विभाग के अतिरिक्त निदेशक प्रदीप अहलावत ने कहा है हरियाणा सरकार ने पब्लिक ट्रांसपोर्ट क्षेत्र में इलेक्ट्रिक व्हीकल को शामिल करना शुरू कर दिया है। हरियाणा में बहुत जल्द 550 इलेक्ट्रिक बसें खरीदी जा रही हैं।

हरेडा के चेयरमैन स्वतंत्र कुमार सिंघल ने कहा कि अब समय आ गया है जब तेल की आदत को छोडक़र वैकल्पिक साधनों को अपनाने के लिए तेजी से कदम बढ़ाना होगा।
पीएचडीसीसीआई पंजाब चैप्टर के को-चेयर करण गिल्होत्रा ने आये हुए अतिथियों का आभार व्यक्त किया।

        इस अवसर पर टाटा ईवी बस के हेड सेल्स एंड मार्केटिंग अमित कपूर, चैंबर के सह महासचिव नवीन सेठ, चंडीगढ़ चेप्टर के चेयर मधुसूदन विज, को-चेयर सुव्रत खन्ना समेत कई गणमान्य मौजूद थे।

            The Syndicate approved the names for Revising Committee, Regulation Committee and Standing Committee (UMC)

            The Syndicate approved for fixation of the dates for the meetings of the Faculties to be held in March 2023 for the purpose of election of various Boards of Studies (i.e. Undergraduate and Postgraduate Boards of Studies) for the term 01.04.2023 to 31.03.2025

            The Syndicate approved the nomination of two eminent Jurists, on the Research Degree Committee in Law for two years i.e. 01.01.2023 to 31.12.2024 i.e. Justice Jasbir Singh and Justice Hari Pal Verma.

MCC recovers 4.11 crores pending arrears on account of service charges/property tax from Govt. institutions & autonomous bodies

*Chandigarh, February 1*:- Aiming at recovering all pending dues of service charges/property tax, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has started acting tough against the non-paying government institutions and autonomous bodies. The MCC has recently recovered 4.11 crores from authorities as service charges/property tax and one month notices have been served to the non-paying institutions who owe approximately Rs. 74.67 crores.

While sharing this development, Sh Anup Gupta, Mayor Chandigarh today said that with regular efforts, the MCC has recovered 4.11 crores on account of service charges/property tax arrears from Hotel Shivalik view, Lake View and the Chef, sector 17 from the department of CITCO. Apart from that Haryana Govt. has paid up tax against buildings of mini secretariat and Haryana Tribunal tax. Employees State Insurance Corporation and Red Cross, Sector 16, Chandigarh respectively.

He said that one month notices have been served to the non-paying institutions and autonomous bodies amounting to Rs. 74.67 lacs including Punjab University, PGI, PEC, Tech. Teachers Training Institute, Sector 26, Kendriya Primary School, Sector 31, Chd. College of Engg. New sector 26, Kendriya Vidyalaya, sector 29, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, sector 25, Regional Provi. Fund commissioner, sector 17, KV Primary school, sector 47, Nirman Sadan sector 33, Railway Station, Daria, IMTECH sector 39, Mini Sectt. Punjab sector 9, CRPF Camp sector 43, HRTC workshop, Ind. area Ph-I, Haryana PWD sector 19, Govt. Press & Prtg. Haryana sector 18, Chief Engineer, UT, Chandigarh respectively.

He said that after the notice period, appropriate legal action will be initiated against the non-paying institutions as per law.

Panjab University and IIT-Ropar to stimulate innovation ecosystem of Northern India

To make India Atmanirbhar Bharat, the office of Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA), Government of India (GoI), has sent a communication to the Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh for the establishment of Science & Technology (S&T) cluster with head-office located at PU campus, Chandigarh. The cluster will cater to the Research & Development (R&D) needs of the industries, state governments, local bodies (municipal corporations, Panchayats, etc.) of the northern region comprising of the states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and Union Territories of J&K and Chandigarh. The seed fund for R&D projects (of national importance) will be provided by the office of PSA. Five thematic areas (Agriculture and food processing, Pharma/medical devices/health-care, Indigenous technology development and optimization, Waste management and wealth from waste, Sustainable mobility and green energy) have been identified under which the seed funding will be provided.

The S&T cluster will function as a not-for-profit Section 8 company. For initial three years the cluster will be financially supported by the office of PSA. Subsequently it has to become self-sufficient. The Panjab University and IIT-Ropar will be the share holders of the company and jointly engage with other stakeholders (Academia, Industry, Government, NGOs, Philanthropists, etc.) of the Northern region to uplift S&T ecosystem of the region.

Professor Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh shared that final touches are being given to the S&T proposal to be submitted to the office of PSA for the establishment and functioning of the S&T cluster.

NSS Units and Medical Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV college for Women, Chandigarh under the guidance of Principal, Dr.NishaBhargava  organised Seven Day/Night NSS Special Camp. During this camp, Enactus SSBUICET organised the 7thworkshop in the “Mytharche” series on Menstrual Health and Hygiene, conveyed Prof. SeemaKapoor. Enactus Faculty Advisor. The workshop was attended by 100 NSS volunteers, 20 Enactus members and 10 members of the Drama Team of Panjab University.

The event commenced with a virtual address by Ms.GeetanjaliBakshi, Coordinator of CSR project Amodini of Versatile Group, Ludhiana. She introduced project Amodini, which was initiated to break the silence around menstrual hygiene for girls around the society and their successful collaboration with the Enactus team. This was followed by an interactive and insightful lecture by Dr.NeelamSodhi (MD, OBS & Gynaecology) on menstrual health and hygiene with the goal of changing society by being open and honest about menstruation and menstrual hygiene. Project Uday of the Enactus Team seeks to gradually eliminate taboos surrounding menstruation. She was received by the crowd with a huge round of applause and everyone was moved by her words. Dr.Sodhi’s talk was followed by Ms.Ravina’s talk from Switzerland, who is doing a project with WHO and spoke on the advantages of using reusable cloth pads.

Time and again various art forms have been used to convey deep messages to society. Keeping this in mind, the drama team of Panjab University headed by Hargovind Singh Randhawa presented a skit to make the event entertaining and interactive. They presented a number of real-world examples that force us to consider our culture and address the silence surrounding a woman’s menstrual cycle. Finally, self- written poetry on menstruation was also performed for the audience’s amusement by an Enactus member.

Dr.NishaBhargava greatly appreciated the efforts made by the Enactus team & Versatile group and highlighted the prominent role played by Enactus in the progress of marginalized communities. She commended the students’ efforts in planning the session to raise awareness regarding the importance of menstruation hygiene and the negative impacts of plastic-based sanitary napkins.

In addition to all of this, a stall was put up to display cloth based sanitary napkins created as part of CSR Project Amodini of Versatile Group and Project Uday of Enactus. Pottery products made under Project Dhra and cloth bags made by Ludhiana based NGO, Ashirwad were also displayed at stall.

The workshop was a great success. Prof. Kapoor acknowledged the support provided by Sh. Amandeep Singh Bhatti, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh for connecting Enactus team with various colleges of Chandigarh for the conduct of workshops on Menstrual Health and Hygiene.

Chandigarh, January 24:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has organised an awareness and Capacity Building Programme on HIV/AIDS, Livelihood, Financial Inclusion and Social Enterprise for Self Help Groups has been organized with support from Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society, U.T. Chandigarh under the aegis of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM).

The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Isha Kamboj, Joint Commissioner, MCC in the presence of Dr. Jitendar Dahiya, Assistant Director-SPM, State AIDS Control Society, U.T. Chandigarh. 13 Area Level Federations comprising of approx. 100 Self Help Group women have participated in the awareness and capacity building programme on HIV/AIDS, Livelihood, Financial Inclusion and Social Enterprise for Self Help Groups.

During the programme, renowned resource persons have given sessions on Women Health & Hygiene (STIs); Banking System and Financial Inclusion; International Year of Millet; Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao and Livelihood Generation Activities (Social Enterprises) etc.

एक ईंट शहीदों के नाम अभियान की तरफ से रविवार को पंजाब कला भवन में अनेकता में एकता हिंदी की विशेषता थीम पर इंटर स्टेट कल्चर एक्सचेंज प्रोग्राम का आयोजन किया गया। इस प्रोग्राम में कई राज्यों के स्कूलों से बच्चों ने हिस्सा लिया और सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम पेश किया। बच्चों की तरफ से अपने-अपने राज्य का नृत्य व गायन पेश किया गया, जिसके चलते कार्यक्रम में अलग-अलग राज्यों की संस्कृति की झलक दिखाई दी। इस मौके पर मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में चंडीगढ़ कमीशन फॉर प्रोटेक्शन ऑफ़ चाइल्ड राइट्स की चेयरपर्सन हरजिंदर कौर उपस्थित थीं। इसके इलावा संस्था की महासचिव अनु पशरीजा, संयोजक संजीव राणा, रयात बाहरा यूनिवर्सिटी के वाइस चांसलर डॉ. परविंदर सिंह व हरियाणा रेड क्रॉस सोसाइटी की वाइस चेयरमैन सुषमा गुप्ता समेत अन्य लोग उपस्थित थे। मुख्य अतिथि व संस्था के पदाधिकारियों ने कार्यक्रम में भाग लेने वाले बच्चों को सम्मानित किया।

चंडीगढ़ कमीशन फॉर प्रोटेक्शन ऑफ़ चाइल्ड राइट्स की चेयरपर्सन हरजिंदर कौर ने संस्था के ऐसे कार्यक्रम का आयोजन के लिए सराहना की और कहा कि उन्हें कार्यक्रम में आकर बच्चों व महिलाओं की प्रस्तुति देखकर काफी अच्छा लगा है। कार्यक्रम अलग-अलग राज्यों के रंगों से भरा हुआ था और महिलाओं व बच्चों के लिए ऐसे ही और कार्यक्रम होने चाहिए। संस्था की महासचिव अनु पशरीजा ने कहा कि कार्यक्रम के जरिए बच्चों व महिलाओं को दूसरे राज्यों की संस्कृति के बारे में जानने का मौका मिला है और भविष्य में वह ऐसे ही और कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन करते रहेंगे। 

 कार्यक्रम का आयोजन खासकर महिलाओं व बच्चों के लिए किया जा रहा है, जिसमें पंजाब, हरियाणा, हिमाचल प्रदेश, उत्तराखंड आदि राज्यों की टीमें शामिल हुई। उन्होंने बताया कि उत्तराखंड की टीम की तरफ से स्किट भी पेश किया गया। कार्यक्रम में 250 के करीब बच्चे शामिल हुए।

*Chandigarh, March 23*:- Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh today flagged off street vending carts to mobile vendors selling vegetables and beneficiaries under PM SVANIDHI scheme in the presence of Sh. Kanwarjit Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor, Sh. Harjeet Singh, Deputy Mayor and other senior officers of MCC.

The street vending carts have been designed by a student Ms. Gauri Nagpal under a project supported and funded by Harvard University, Laxmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute.

The Mayor also interacted with the street vendors and team of designers led by Ms. Gauri Nagpal so as to know how the pilot project can be further scaled up by designing such carts for other category vendors as well to give an aesthetic look to vending which is in harmony with the city design and architecture.

The carts have been designed by team comprising of local hawkers, carpenters, engineers, and mechanics who developed an electric street cart that abides by the city’s spatial design bye-laws with different parts that are detachable, and modular. This invention has been supported by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) which awarded it the first prize in the Innovation in Food and Agri Business Competition as well as a first prize from Harvard University’s South Asia Institute which is funding the creation of the first fleet of 16 electric carts to be piloted in the city.

This project is only a first step towards encompassing informal workers in larger climate policy action and for the city of Chandigarh, hopes to open new doors to innovative thinking around complex urban challenges.

In addition to that the street vendors took an oath to Say No to Single Use Plastic and were given cloth bag made by Self Help Groups under DAY NULM.

Panjab University organized special event on  National Credit Framework for NEP-2020.

Panjab University today organized a special academic event to discuss the pertinent issue of implementation of the National Education Policy with special focus on the National Credit Framework. The event was held in a hybrid mode and saw participation from various Departments and Centres of the University besides the affiliated colleges. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The programme saw an overwhelming participation with 100 online and 176 physical attendees. 

Prof. Yojna Rawat, Director Research and Promotion Cell, Panjab University welcomed the dignitaries and Prof. Anju Suri, Dean College Development Council formally introduced the resource persons. 

The key resource persons for the event were Dr. N.S. Kalsi, Chairman, National Commission for Vocational Education & Training, GOI. He spoke at length about various facets of the implementation of the National Credit Framework. His presentation delved on how the Framework would help in integrating creditisation of all learnings and would be a meta framework. He apprised the stakeholders of the challenges and structures in the Framework. Dr. Kalsi also interacted with the audience and clarified the queries from teachers. 

Dr. Haneet Gandhi, Professor Department of Education and CUET admission coordinator, Delhi University addressed the audience on ‘Implementation of FYUG Structure and its Curriculum at Delhi University at 12.20 There was a busy question answer session in which the resource persons interacted with with the audience.  

The Interaction was held in Hybrid Mode.  About 176 participants comprising heads of the departments and centres, teachers involved in NEP implementation planning, principals of colleges affiliated to Panjab University attended the event which targeted on enhancement of opportunities for learners.Prof. Latika Sharma, coordinator, NEP Committee for PU said that for the first time informal and non formal learning can be creditised in the formal education system with the proposed National Credit framework. Delhi University which had started  before FYUG guidelines were released by UGC has showed that new system can be adopted by spreading awareness and going in small steps. She summarised the take aways from the two sessions and proposed the vote of thanks. There was active participation by professors and principals about the credits and choices which were patiently answered by the eminent resource persons.

School of Communication Studies hosts school students for a media visit.

18 January, 2023: School of Communication Studies, Panjab University today hosted students from a city school and organized a visit to the Community Radio Station of Panjab University, besides giving them a exposure into the myriad hues of mass communication. Dr. Bhavneet Bhatti, Chairperson, School of Communication Studies, said that “Mass Communication is a dynamic field that offers diverse career options. We are happy to host young students and show them the radio station besides orienting them towards avenues in Mass Communication.”

A total of  43 students from Banyan Tree School, Sector 48, Chandigarh accompanied by faculty members Ms. Deepika Rohilla and Ms. Portia Ohri interacted with the senior faculty members and the students of SCS. Senior Professors from SCS Prof. Mohanmeet Khosla and Prof. Archana R Singh also interacted with the students and solved their queries relating to various topics revolving around the media industry. The students of Masters of Mass Communication & Journalism showcased the in-house projects and introduced the school students to Radio Jyotirgamaya, the Community Radio Station of Panjab University. Several documentaries prepared by the students of SCS were also screened for the school students and they were introduced to the technical qualities and skills required to pursue the field.
