MCC introduces combi tool kits in Fire & Rescue Services

Chandigarh, June 13:- With a commitment to provide safety and welfare of the citizens of City beautiful, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has introduced Combi Tool Kits in its Fire & Rescue Services department. Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh today distributed these kits among four zones including Fire Station Sector-17, 32, 38, and Manimajra.

After inspection of the rescue tool kits, the Mayor said that these tool kits consisting of Hydraulic/Battery Operated and Petrol Driven Cutting, Spreading and Rams have been included in the Fire & Rescue Services department at Rs. 3 Crores. He said that the introduction of these Rescue Tool Kits marked a major step towards strengthening the Fire and Rescue Services in the city. Comprising a total of 28 Units, these tools will prove to be invaluable in assisting firefighters in dealing with contingencies arising from road accidents, Lift Rescue and building collapses etc.

Recognizing the importance of equipping the fire service personnel with the necessary tools and resources to efficiently carry out their duties, the Mayor said that the rescue tool kits consist of state-of-the-art equipment designed to aid in extricating individuals trapped in vehicles, as well as in rescuing individuals from collapsed structures. These tools will empower the firefighters to respond effectively to emergencies and enhance their capabilities in saving lives.

He emphasized the significance of continuously investing in modern equipment for the safety and well-being of the citizens. He further acknowledged the dedication and bravery of the firefighters in safeguarding the community. He also appreciated the initiative and affirmed the commitment of the MCC to bolster the capabilities of the Fire and Rescue Services.

The Mayor said that the distribution of these Rescue Tool Kits across the four zones will ensure that the firefighting teams are well-prepared and adequately equipped to handle any emergency situation promptly and efficiently. The tools will significantly contribute to increase the chances of successful rescue operations. The acquisition and distribution of these Rescue Tool Kits highlight the dedication and proactive approach of the corporation in providing top-notch emergency services, said the Mayor.

सिविल सर्जन के नेतृत्व में प्लान इंडिया टीम द्वारा जिला में टीबी की बीमारी के बारे में किया गया ब्यौरा

पंचकूला, 12 जून- सिविल सर्जन डॉ मुक्ता कुमार के नेतृत्व में प्लान इंडिया टीम द्वारा जिला में टीबी की बीमारी के बारे में ब्यौरा किया गया, जिसमें स्टेट टीबी ऑफिसर डॉ मनोज त्यागी और जिला टीबी ऑफिसर डॉ मोनिका कौरा और अन्य सदस्य मौजूद रहे।


  इस संबंध मे ंजानकारी देते हुये जिला टीबी ऑफिसर डॉ मोनिका कौरा ने बताया कि सबसे पहले नई टीबी हट का ब्यौरा करवाया गया। इसके साथ साथ सभी टीबी इंडीकेटर्स की परफॉरमेंस रिपोर्ट बताई गयी और सभी टीबी इंडीकेटर्स की उपलब्धि रिपोर्ट्स पूरी पायी गयी। सभी टीबी के वर्कर्स का कार्य भी बहुत बढ़िया पाया गया। टीबी की लैब का ब्यौरा बहुत ही अच्छे तरीके  से करवाया गया। उसके बाद टीम ने टीबी ड्रगस्टोर पालीक्लिनिक सेक्टर-26, सीएचसी रायपुररानी टीयू के ड्रगस्टोर का ब्यौरा किया गया। इसके साथ साथ पीएचसी बरवाला में टीबी डीएमसी और टीबी की लैब का ब्यौरा भी प्लान इंडिया टीम द्वारा किया गया।

CRIKC Shodh Samvad on Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence

Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) mandate is to use science, technology and innovation for socio-economic change and one of its initiatives is “Shodh Samwad i.e. Research Forum” which is a platform to encourage young budding scientists to showcase their research to general society as a whole and provides initiative for collaborations and fostering partnerships among various research groups. This is the 5th  event in the series of Shodh Samwad which was organized on the theme “Machine Learning: Methods and Approach”. The stage was set rolling by the expert talk by Prof. Prabha Garg from Pharmaco-informatics NIPER, Mohali where she discussed various applications in which biology can collaborate with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). She also highlighted how to use various algorithms for different kinds of data. Prof. Veena Puri from Bioinformatics Panjab University introduced everyone with a glimpse of her research on making precision medicines unique to a patient suffering from a particular disease. The event proceeded with a presentation delivered by two research scholars from the University of North Texas, Sarah Beaver and Yashu Vashishath where they enlightened the audience about various kinds of Machine Learning and their applications. They also explained about their research and various methodologies that they use like in making audiograms for cochlear implants and prediction of MCI state in Alzheimer’s disease patients. The research scholars from various CRIKC institutes interacted with the guests and made a fruitful session at global level. The CRIKC coordinator Prof. Gaurav Verma concluded the session by felicitating the guests.

MCC starts ‘Rupee Store’ at Community Centre EWS houses, Dhanas

With a aim to start ‘Rupee Stores’ throughout city, where required, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today started new ‘Rupee store’ at Community Centre, EWS houses, Dhanas.

Promoting the concept of 3R i.e. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and use the items collected to help the needy people in the city, the Mayor, Chandigarh Sh. Anup Gupta inaugurated the store today in the presence of Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Ram Chander Yadav, area councilor, other prominent persons of the area and officers of MCC.

Aims to encourage the practice of following 3R and also, help people in need, where people can buy any item whether it is bed sheet, ladies suits, gents trousers and shirts just @ Rs. 1/- per item.

While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the MCC has started permanent RRR centre at New Bridge Market, near Jagat cinema, Sector 17, where citizens can bring their reusable items to donate.

He said that after cleaning, repairing and refurbishing the old items collected at permanent RRR centre at sector 17, these type of Sales will be organized in different parts of city so that the needy may buy good quality usable items near to them by spending Rs. 1 only.

Event on World Ground Water Day and Water Conservation under “Haryana Uday” held

Panchkula, June 10 – An event focused on World Ground Water Day and raising awareness about Water Conservation was organized under the “Haryana Uday” initiative. The event took place at Nanakpur Amritsarovar and was attended by official from the Panchayat Department and the Public Health and Engineering Department.
  During the event, participants actively engaged in planting fruit-bearing and other shady plants. Employees from both departments, along with panchayat members and villagers, joined hands to contribute to this initiative. People were also educated about the significance of planting saplings on occasions such as festivals and during the monsoon season as well as taking care of them.
  Similarly, as part of the event, saplings will be planted in public areas of each village during the monsoon season, aiming to provide villages with cleaner air and enhance their overall beautification. It is the responsibility of each individual to increase tree plantation efforts and make conscious efforts to conserve water.
  On this occasion, the Junior Engineer from the Public Health Department motivated attendees to save water and highlighted its importance. Those present at the event included Mr. Mehar Singh from the Block Office Pinjore, Social Education and Panchayat Officer Mr. Ravi Prakash, Mr. Harpal Singh Assistant, Junior Engineer of the Public Health Department Mr. Labh Singh, Sarpanch Mr. Bhupinder Singh, Panch Mr. Makhan Singh, panchayat members and others.
  The primary objective of the Haryana Uday initiative is to organize events that address various social concerns such as cleanliness, sports, plantation, and cultural activities. In addition to raising awareness, the program focuses on facilitating public dialogues, providing prompt solutions to community issues through community policing, and conducting outreach programs

MCC organises blood donation camp in memory of firemen who lost their lives during fire fighting at NIELT building

Chandigarh, June 8:- City Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta today inaugurated a blood donation camp organised at Fire Station, Sector 17, here today.

The camp was organised in association with Sh. kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust Panchkula in the memory of Martyrs who sacrificed their lives while performing duties during Major Fire incident occurred on 08.06.2014 at NIELT building, sector 17 Chandigarh.

Others who present during the inauguration were Sh. Gurinder Sing Sodhi PCS, Joint Commissioner-cum- Chief Fire Officer, councilors of MCC and other prominent persons of city.

Firemen and other officials of MCC donated blood during the camp. Total 150 units of blood was donated during the camp.

Mayor inaugurates permanent ‘RRR Centre’ at sector 17 Chandigarh

People can donate their reusable household items at the permanent RRR centre from 8th June*

Chandigarh, June 7:- Working towards better management and promotion of the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, Sh. Anup Gupta, City Mayor inaugurated a permanent RRR Centre at new bridge market, near Jagat Cinema, Sector 17 here today in the presence of Sh. Kanwarjit Singh Rana, Senior Deputy Mayor, other councilors and officers of MCC, office bearers of Market Welfare Associations, Sector 17 and prominent persons of area.

Having four different shops for cloths, books, shoes, electronic items etc. The RRR store will remain open from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm daily from Tuesday to Sunday and will remain closed on Monday.

At the opening of the RRR centre, the Mayor said that the Municipal Corporation had started 35 temporary RRR centres throughout city in each ward, where city residents donated their reusable household articles from May 20 to June 5th, 2023. He said that the MCC further cleaned, refurbished and up cycled the articles which will be further made available for sale at the “Rupee stores “very soon. He said that restored items will be sold at nominal rates to the needy with the aim to ensure household items in good condition do not go waste and are reused instead.

The Mayor said that only good quality and useable items will be accepted for donation including clothes, shoes, books/stationery, plastic items, crockery, toys, e-waste, wooden items, furniture etc. He said that these articles will also be collected through MCC’s ‘Swachh Sawari’- RRR on Wheels. He said that Self Help Groups and the sanitation workers of MCC have been deputed to look after the day-to-day operations and management of the RRR centre and  the Rupee stores.

He further said that this project will further strengthen the RRR’s of waste management- Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. She said that this will give an impetus to the overall zero-waste ecosystem under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0.

Mayor inaugurates open air gyms at Green parks, NAC Manimajra

Chandigarh, June 7:- Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh today inaugurated open air gyms at different four green parks in NAC, Manimajra in the presence of Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, former Mayor and area councilor, other councilors, officers of MCC and prominent persons of the area.

Going on the lines of other gardens in city beautiful, the MCC has provided open air gyms in these four parks for people to indulge in exercises. Different gym equipments have been installed at the parks for local residents at a cost of Rs. 12.53 lacs from MPLAD funds.

In addition to that the Mayor formally started laying and fixing of red sand stone under benches in various parks of ward No.6 in the park near # 205 NAC, Manimajra at a cost of 4.30 lacs from ward development fund. The Mayor and other dignitaries also planted saplings of various ornamental trees and shrubs in the green parks.

While addressing the gathering, the Mayor said that these open air gyms will benefit thousands of youngsters as well as elderly people of local area. He said that people will be able to do exercises while they go for their morning or evening walks. The aim behind the provision of these open air gyms is to promote healty living in the city, added the Mayor.

MCC cleans water bodies ‘Amrit Sarovars’ to mark world environment day

Chandigarh, June 5:- Aiming to preserve natural resources, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today cleaned three rejuvenated water bodies “Amrit Sarovars” including Kaimbala, Khudda Ali Sher and Sarangpur villages in the city to mark the world environment day.

With the active participation of local residents, Kar Sewa volunteers and area councilors of Ward No.1 and 15, the MCC workers gathered at the three locations, equipped with gloves, garbage bags, and other necessary cleaning tools. The participants displayed great enthusiasm and determination to clean the water bodies.

The accumulated waste, including plastic bottles, wrappers, and other non-biodegradable items, was diligently collected, and segregated for appropriate disposal. During the cleanliness of water bodies, mass awareness was conducted by the MCC officials to educate the public about the harmful effects of pollution on water bodies and the importance of preserving natural resources. Information boards and banners were installed around the ponds to promote responsible behavior and encourage citizens to keep the environment clean.

Mayor emphasizes on the importance of striking a balance between development & environmental conservation

MCC organizes cleanliness & plantation drives across all 35 wards in city*

Chandigarh, June 5:- Emphasizing the importance of striking a balance between development and environmental conservation, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today organized Tree plantation, plogging activities, cleaning drives and thanks giving ceremonies to those who donated their reusable items in RRR centres in all 35 wards of city beautiful.

The environment day celebration started with the plogging and cleaning at Valley of Animals park, Sector 49 by the city Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta and Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, MCC followed by plantation drive at a green belt, sector 21 C&D and cleaning and plantation drives at Topiary park sector 35, Trikona park, 38 West by ‘Green Brigade’, Community centre and Green belt, 46 and Green belt, Indra colony, Manimajra. During the programmes Mayor, Commissioner and respective area councilors of all 35 wards participated in cleaning, plogging atcitivies and planted saplings of various ornamental trees besides thanking the citizens at the RRR centres (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle centres) for donating their reusable household items for the last 15 days.

While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that it was a day to engage people, communities; accelerate the action for environment and amplify the buzz for adopting a sustainable lifestyle among the masses. He said that going forward with the belief that “Our Environment is Our Responsibility”, all citizens should join hands actively in the cleanliness as well as plantation drives at their respective areas.

He said that under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission, which has made cleanliness, a mass movement across the nation, MCC is leaving no stone unturned to improve the cleanliness and sanitation status of the city, with its intensified efforts. He emphasized on the importance of maintaining a clean and green environment and urged the people of Chandigarh not to litter waste in public places and use twin bins for waste segregation. Responsible behavior and cooperation shown by the public, combined with efforts of the Safaikaramchari toiling day and night, Chandigarh can strive for becoming the cleanest city of the country, the Mayor said.

In addition to that formal closing ceremonies were organized of RRR centres established by the MCC in all the 35 wards under the “Meri LiFE, Mera Swachh Sheher” campaign wherein the officials thanked the area councilors for motivating and mobilizing the public for donating at RRR centres and the citizens for their generous contributions.

Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, MCC said on the occasion that the campaign was a huge success, and gained remarkable support from the residents of city beautiful, who came forward to make donations of several items ranging from old but quality clothes, utensils, toys, books, stationery, footwear, electronic gadgets promoting the principles of 3R’s which is Reuse, Reduce and Recycle.

She said that the campaign was not just limited to merely collection of the donated items, but also to close the loop of end disposal for nearly 1 tones of goods donated big-heartedly by the citizens at the 35 RRR Centres and also through mobile collection vehicle “Swachh Sawari” collecting donations at doorstep. In collaboration with different handling partners viz. Self Help Groups and NGOs, MCC will ensure refurbishment, upcycling and repair of donated items before it reaches to someone in need, said the Commissioner.

With an ambitious annual target to plant 54399 (6025 trees and 48374 shrubs) saplings, around 930 saplings of flowering trees and shrubs were planted in parks/greenbelts spread across all the wards today. The plantation drives across all the wards of the city were led by the Area councilors getting massive and excellent response from the general public who showed active participation in the celebration of World Environment Day.

Different varieties of plants were planted during the drive such as Chukrasia, Neem, Amaltas, Jamun, Gulmohar, Jacaranda, Mango, Koelreutaria, Sita AshokMolsari, Camphor, Pilkhan, Bahera, Alstonia, Jatropha, Raat ki raani, Hamaelia, Hibiscus etc. comprising of flowering trees, shrubs and other medicinal plants, some of which have a lifespan of over 100 years. In addition to that, around 1,14,000 shrubs will be planted in different V3 roads in Sectors 31 to 63 under NCAP during this year.
