The Department of Statistics at Panjab University, Chandigarh celebrated National Statistics Day in collaboration with University School of Open Learning, Panjab University. The event was graced by the presence of Director Nidhi Satija from the Statistics Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi, who Present as the keynote speaker. Prof. Harsh Gandhar, Chairperson, USOL welcomed the guest and then Introduction of the Speaker to the Participants was done by Programme Convenor Dr. Richa Sharma from USOL. During the event the keynote speaker delivered a lecture on the role of the National Family Health Survey and Sustainable Development Goals in strengthening the healthcare sector in India. She emphasized that for India to progress, it is essential for all citizens to be in good health. The speaker also discussed the third major goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, which emphasizes the responsibility of every country to prioritize the health of its citizens and guide them on leading a healthy lifestyle in the future. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of the National Family Health Survey. She Says it’s a Duty of Every Citizen to informing the government about citizens’ health conditions During the Health Survey, which would be helpful in formulating effective health policies of the Country. The students engaged in a question and answer session with the speaker, seeking ways to promote the National Family Health Survey and Sustainable Development Goals to improve citizen health in society.

The event concluded with Dr. Anju Goel, Head of the Department of Statistics, Panjab University, expressing gratitude to the chief guest. Dr. Savita Jain, from the Department of Statistics, Panjab University was also present in the event.

As per call of Minsitry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Victory against Drug Abuse (VADA) club of Boys Hostel 4, in collaboration with NSS, Panjab University under the able leadership of Dr. Naveen kumar, Warden, Boys Hostel-4 & PO, NSS, PU organized an awareness cum interactive session on ‘Journey from a Drug Addict to Sober’ which is celebrated on 26th June every year. The event kick stated with the awareness drive against drug and substance use in market near gate 2 of Panjab wherein Dr. Parveen Goyal, Fellow member, Senate along with Dr. Naveen kumar motivated the volunteers to make such activities a regular feature to eradicate drug and substance use. The expert session was revered with kind presence of Prof Simrit Kahlon, Dean Student Welfare (Women), PU. The guest speakers Mr. Nipun and Mr. Karan shared their victory against drug addiction and answered all the questions of students. They expressed through their life experiences how addiction can destroy the lives of not just addict but all of the people around them. But their willpower and resilience motivated the audience members to a great extent. The experts suggested some remedial measures and useful platforms like Alcohal and Narcotics Anonymous and shared how meeting of these groups enabled them in leaving the drug abuse. When asked about the biggest remorse they had, both shared among audience that hitting and misbehaving with their parents by them was a biggest remorse they had. Prof. Simrit kahlon shared her words of wisdom on the occasion and asked the audience to examine the long term consequences before using the drugs and such substance for seeking short term pleasure. Using example of a movie named ‘Daddy’,she beautifully put forth her convincing arguments among listeners. Thereafter ‘Say no to Drugs’ pledge was administered and students pledged not to use these harmful and illicit drugs, and ensured to extend help and cooperation in spreading awareness about Ill-effects of consuming these drugs and make India Drug free. The event ended with a vote of thanks by VADA coordinator Mr. Karandeep Bhayana.

चण्डीगढ़ 26 जून, 2023:-सन्त निरंकारी सत्संग भवन सैक्टर 30-ए में  ज़ोनल लैवल इंगलिश मीडियम सन्त समागम का आयोजन किया गया। सत्गुरू माता सुदीक्षा जी महाराज के सन्देश को चण्डीगढ़ के अतिरिक्त 15 अन्य ब्रान्चों के नौजवानों ने स्पीच, ग्रुप सांग, स्किट आदि द्वारा प्रस्तुत किया गया।

                इस अवसर पर बहन नेहा आनन्द जी , अमृतसर ने  थ्री डी का ज़िक्र करते हुए कहा कि ब्रहमज्ञान की प्राप्ति के बाद जब गुरसिक्ख सत्संग-सेवा-सिमरन करने लगता है तो उसकी दृष्टि में बदलाव आने लग जाता है, फिर धीरे-धीरे उसकी दिशा भी ठीक होने लगती है। जिससे उसका ध्यान इस सर्वव्यापी परमात्मा व सत्गुरू के प्रति परिपक्व होता चला जाता है । 

                बहन आनन्द ने आगे कहा कि सत्गुरू बाबा गुरबचन सिंह जी महाराज ने वर्ष 1973 से इंगलिश मीडियम सत्संग की शुरुआत की थी । वर्तमान युग में संसार के अधिकतर 100 देशों में इंगलिश भाषा का अनुसरण किया जाता है । सत्गुरू क्योंकि दूरदर्शी होते हैं इसलिए आज से 50 वर्ष पहले ही सत्गुरू ने इंगलिश मीडियम सत्संग का आयोजन शुरू करवा दिया जिससे कि यह ब्रहमज्ञान संसार के कोने-कोने में पहुंचाया जा सके। 

                बहन आनन्द ने अपने प्रवचनों में यह भी बताया कि उन्होंने एन.वाई.एस. में सत्गुरू माता सुदीक्षा जी से यह प्रश्न पूछा था कि आने वाले 20 वर्षों में आप जी सन्त निरंकारी मिशन का भविष्य क्या देखते हैं । इसके उत्तर में सत्गुरू माता जी ने कहा कि आने वाले 20 वर्षो में संसार के हर देश में सन्त निरंकारी मिशन का अनुयायी होंगे ।

                नौजवानों ने एक स्किट के द्वारा भ्रम-भुलेखे और दिखावे बारे सत्गुरू माता जी के प्रवचनों की चर्चा करते हुए कहा कि ब्रहमज्ञान की प्राप्ति मानुष जन्म का अन्त नहीं बल्कि एक भ्रम-मुक्त जीवन की शुरूआत है जिसमें दिखावे के लिए कोई जगह नहीं है । सत्गुरू ने ब्रहमज्ञान प्रदान कर हमारे लिए व्यवहारिक अध्यात्मिकता के द्वार खोल दिए हैं ।

                इस अवसर पर चंडीगढ़ जोन के ज़ोनल इन्चार्ज श्री ओ पी निरंकारी जी ने इस अवसर पर उपस्थित सभी ब्रान्चों के मुखी, संयोजक व नौजवानों का जिन्होंने कितनी मेहनत करके इस समागम को सफल बनाया सभी का धन्यवाद किया । इस समागम के आयोजन के लिए यहां के संयोजक श्री नवनीत पाठक जी तथा सभी सेवादल अधिकारियों का भी धन्यवाद किया तथा सभी के लिए हर प्रकार के सुखों की प्राप्ति की कामना की ।

Chandigarh, June 26:- Dr. Atul Narayan Vaidya, Director, NEERI, Nagpur briefed the councillors of all parties about the technology of ISWM Plant to be established at Dadumajra.

The Director, NEERI briefed the councillors that Bio CNG is the technology best suited for Chandigarh City as per its climate and characteristics of municipal solid waste.

Dr. Atul further stated the Plant will be set up after getting environmental clearance which is a very rigorous process. Environment Clearance addresses issues of water pollution, odour and soil pollution. He responded to queries regarding establishment of other technologies and why they were not suitable for Chandigarh. He added that moisture content which is on higher side, the quantum of wet waste, projections of waste in future, have to be kept in mind. He also explained that some technologies are investment intensive and also high maintenance. 

He further informed that the CNG produced in Plant may be used to produce electricity, hydrogen or ethanol in future. However, some of these technologies are yet to stabilise. He said that there will be no issue of odour as bio filters are provided to check the same. He assured the Councillors that after installation of the Plant , NEERI would also be supervising the performance of working of the Plant .

Dr. Atul further said that Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has done significant progress in segregation of waste from source level which will be beneficial for the processing of solid waste at different levels.
