Chandigarh, July 31:- The Finance and Contract committee of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has decided to repair and renovate the Sewa Kendra in Sector 25, Chandigarh including approved various developmental agenda items. The meeting of F&CC was held here today under the Chairmanship of Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor  and attended by Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner and other members of committee namely Sh. Gurpreet Singh, Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, Smt. Prem Lata, Ms. Neha  and other senior officers of MCC.

The members of committee discussed other various important agenda items in detail and accorded approval for the following:

·         The work for Construction of Barrier free Ramp in Sub Office Manimajra, Chandigarh under Accessible India Campaign – Sugamya Bharat at an estimated cost of Rs. 11.72 lac

·         Providing and fixing Paver Blocks & repairing of Paver Blocks & repairing of Paver Blocks around the park at various locations and front of Govt. School, Sector 20, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 08.82 lac

·         Augmentation of street light system on V-4 Road, Sector 8-B, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 16.99 lac

·         Providing and laying of 250mm (10”) i/d Sewer line for booth Market Sector 51-A, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 12.03 lac

·         Providing and laying of 450mm (18”) i/d RCC NP-2 pipeline and construction of channel covered with M. S. gratings for smooth flow of Strom Water near EWS Colony, Sector 37, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 46.97 lac

·         Re-construction of public toile block at Double Storey Booth Market Sector 46-B, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 14.68 lac

·         Providing and laying of 250mm (10”) i/d & 200mm (8’) i/d S.W. pipe line for smooth disposal of waste water of Radha Market, Booth Market, Church and Community Centre, Sector 41, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 28.51 lac

·         Providing and fixing G.I Pipe railing on V-4 road parking Vikas Nagar and Repair of Railing  Sector 45 & 46, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 34.63 lac

·         Restoration of Road Cut made by Public Health Wing in approach road leading from Main Road to Village Behlana, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.23 lac

·         The re-laying cement concrete walking track by demolishing existing damaged track in park near H.No. 3711, 6131, 5686, Sector 56, Chandigarh and relaying over existing track in park near H.No. 202 and Flour Mill Village Palsora and parks near H. No. 2594, Sector 56, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 17.32 lac

·         The work of Uplifting & Repair of Paver Blocks around park in Sector 43 A & B, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 37.70 lac

·         Repair of Damaged footpath around parks in Modern Housing Complex Manimajra, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 35.63 lac

·         Providing and fixing 60mm thick Paver Blocks in internal blocks at Deendayal Upadhyaya Colony, Industrial Area, Phase-I, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 33.64 lac

·         Providing and fixing Concertina Coil Fencing and MS Jaffery on the top of Boundary wall of Community Centre in Sector 56, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 05.09 lac.

·         Extension of existing Contracts for Gaushala under Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

·         The payment of Sh. Atul Nanada, Sr. Advocate (Former Advocate General of Punjab) engaged in court case CWP No. 28763/2022 titled as M/s Bharti Airtel Limiter and Ann Vs Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (Dismissed vide judgement dated 13.04.2023).

·         The payment of Smt. Divya Sodhi, Advocate engaged for defending two High Valued Arbitration cases i.e. FAO No. 2695 of 2020 and 2772 and 2772 of 2019 both  titled as Jaiprakash Associates Ltd. Vs before the Hon’ble Arbitral Tribunal.

·         Repair and renovation of Sewa Kender in Sector 25, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.41 lac

·         Construction of Multiplay Courtyard for various games inside Community Centre, Sector 21, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 15.19 lacs.

·         Revamping of flooring at Shastri Market, Sector 22-C, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 22.37 lacs.

·         Up-gradation of flooring at front side of Market/ Showroom Sector 22-D, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 42.83 lac

·         Re-construction of paver block/PCC tile pavement after dismantling of existing paver block/PCC tile on V-5 road Sector 45-A, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 24.25 lac

·         Reconstruction of Footpath along with road near forest area Sector 39, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 30.01 lac

·         Providing and fixing of diabled parking sign board, Marking of parking lots & making ramp to make parking disabled friendly at an estimated cost of Rs. 34.28 lac

·         Providing Supplying, Fixing & Placing of Furniture items in Community Centre Sector 44, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.27 lac

·         Repair of existing boundary wall and providing and fixing Jaffery on boundary walls of Health and Welness Centre Sector 50-C, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 13.33 lac

·         Reconstruction of Footpath with 60mm thick interlocking paver block on V-4 roads in Sector 40-A, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 26.89 lac

·         Development of park by construction of cement concrete track in various parks Sector 36, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 42.61 lac

·         Celebration of Teej Festival on 19^th & 20^th August, 2023 at an estimated cost of Rs. 20.00 lacs.

·         Installation of split Air Conditioner 1 ton in office cabin at MC Petrol Pump, Industrial Area Phase-II ad Sector 51, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.61 lacs.

·         Providing and installation of air conditioner in Community Centre, Sector 44 and Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 32.78 lac

·         Refixing and providing and fixing Kerb and Channel along various roads in BDC Sector 26, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 32. 90 lac

In an effort to promote health awareness and well-being in the community, the experts from Centre for Public Health (CPH) delivered an insightful health talk under the guidance of Dr. Komal Sehgal (Co-ordinator, CPH), Dr. Manoj Kumar (Assistant Professor, CPH) and Dr. Naveen Kumar (Assistant Professor,UIAMS). This event aimed to educate and empower individuals on various vital health topics, fostering a culture of informed decision-making and improved health outcomes. *City Mayor flags off the new system for garbage collection in parks and green belts*

Chandigarh, July 24:- The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has taken a significant step towards preserving cleanliness in its parks & green belts. Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor Chandigarh and Municipal Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, officers of Municipal Corporation and residents, flagged off the new system for garbage collection.

The new system has been designed to efficiently collect, lift, and transport garbage from litter bins in parks, making the process streamlined and effective. This initiative is part of the Municipal Corporation’s ongoing efforts to create a cleaner and greener city for all its citizens.

Speaking during the occasion, the Mayor stressed the importance of promoting responsible waste disposal practices among the citizens of Chandigarh. He said that all citizens have a collective responsibility to keep the city clean and healthy. By working together, they can build a sustainable future for the generations to come, added the Mayor.

The Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating that the new system for garbage collection in parks is a crucial step towards enhancing the beauty and cleanliness of the city’s green spaces. She urged citizens to use litter bins and dispose of waste responsibly for the betterment of the environment.

She further stated that Municipal Corporation is continuously working towards improving the upkeep of its green spaces. Earlier, dustbins of stainless steel had been installed in all parks and green belts and now a proper system has been put in place to ensure that the dustbins are cleared and litter picking done on a daily basis.

*Opens it’s fourth ‘One Rupee Store’, at Sunder Nagar Mauli Jagran*

Chandigarh, July 21:- Aiming to provide affordable items to those in need while promoting the concept of reducing, reusing and recycling, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has started its fourth ‘One Ruppee Store’ at the Community Centre, Sundar Nagar, Mauli Jagran, here today.

City Mayor, Sh. Anup Gupta inaugurated the store in the evening in the presence of  Municipal Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, the area councilor Smt. Bimla Dubey, other senior officials of MCC, and prominent members of the ward.

While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the MCC’s permanent RRR center in Sector 17 has received an overwhelming response from citizens, enabling the establishment of this store. The aim of this initiative is to provide affordable items to those in need while promoting the concept of reducing, reusing, and recycling. The store offers a variety of items such as books, electronics, clothing, crockery, kitchenware, toys, and bed sheets, all priced at just Rs. 1 per item.

He said that the Municipal Corporation has set up its permanent RRR center at New Bridge Market, near Jagat Cinema in Sector 17, where citizens are encouraged to donate items that are no longer in use to help those in need. He added that after cleaning, repairing, and refurbishing the donated items collected at the RRR center in Sector 17, the MCC is committed to organizing more such one-rupee stores in different areas/wards of the city.

Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, also expressed her gratitude to the citizens of tricity for their overwhelming response and support. She noted that this is the fourth successful one-rupee store, and the MCC is committed to serving the community by establishing more such stores throughout the city. The launch of this store is a testament to the MCC’s efforts towards creating sustainable and inclusive practices that benefit citizens from all walks of life. She said that the MCC is showing its commitment towards promoting sustainability and inclusivity with opening of these kind of stores in the colony areas of the city.
