 The English Proficiency Course was started in June 2019 and the batch of 
students will continue learning till May 2020 with online support from Skills Anytime, the online partner. 

        The Department of English and Cultural studies initiated a vacation batch of the English proficiency Course in the month of June. The Course ran smoothly and successfully. The participants were a heterogeneous group of ten candidates ranging from teenagers to a senior citizen varying immensely in their levels of proficiency.
       

The English Proficiency Course covers the skills of language – Listening, 
Speaking, Reading and Writing – along with the practice of grammar. It aims at filling the individual gap areas as well as collective gap areas due to mother tongue interference. 

        Dr. Meenu Gupta coordinated the course with Prof. Pushpinder Syal as mentor and trainer and Prof. Deepti Gupta as the Chairperson of the Department of English. Along with them, the facilitators – Gurleen, Chanchal. Muskaan, Simrat, Prashant, Pratibha – helped in steering the programme. The success of the course can be gauged by the following feedback quotes: “Thanks a lot. It’s really worth.”  “don’t want this 
to end”. The department will continue to train more students through the year.

This is for the information of the candidates in particular and public in 
general that those candidates who had deposited their fee for M.Phil & Ph.D. Entrance Test-2019 well in time but could not complete their forms online should contact the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Computer Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh to complete their forms upto 03rd July 2019 till 4:00 P.M. The candidates should bring scanned photograph alongwith signature in Pen Drive alongwith a fine of Rs. 500/-. No further communication in this regard will be entertained thereafter.

        The Department of Life Long Learning & Extension, Panjab University organized a One-day workshop at Panjab University Regional Centre, Shri Mukatsar Sahib. About 70 students of Local Colleges Schools and Community members along with 12 faculty members attended the workshop. Dr.Parmjit Singh Kang, Chairperson, Department of 
Life Long Learning & Extension introduced the Resource Persons and informed the participants about Various Courses, Procedure of Admission, Fee structure, Last date to apply and Hostel Facilities for out station students etc. 

        Dr. Parmjit Singh Kang in particular informed the participants about the short term Vocational and Skill Development Courses being run by the Department. On the inquiry Dr.Kang conveyed to them that at present, Department is running a regular Two Semester Diploma in Pre-school Education along with the Certificate Course in Computer Applications and Short-term Course in Fashion Designing and Cosmetology etc. He also said the Department can organize any such courses on demand. 

        Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work informed the participants about courses being run by his Department. Dr. Jasbir Singh from the Department of History conveyed to the participants about the value and relevance of the subject of History. 

        Dr. Jasminder Singh Dhillon, Director P.U.R.C. informed the participants about the courses being offered at Panjab University Regional Centre. Dr. Parmjit Singh Dhingra, Former Director from the Panjab University Rural Centre, Kauni, conveyed to participants about the courses being offered at Kauni Centre, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur from Panjab University Regional Centre conducted the workshop and 
proposed a Vote of Thanks.
