MC panel visits Dhobi Ghats; takes stock of infrastructure

Chandigarh, July 23:- The Committee constituted to generate revenue from Dhobi Ghats today visited different dhobi ghats in city under the chairmanship of Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali accompanied by other councilor members of the committee namely Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu, Smt. Ravinder Kaur Gujral and concerned officers of MCC namely Sh. Ravinder Sharma and Sh. Dharminder Sharma, Executive Engineers, B&R, MCC.

During the visit the panel took stock of the infrastructure available in the dhobi ghats including sector 7, 15, 19 and sector 22. During the visit in Sector 22 Dhobi ghat Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor accompanied the panel as area councilor.

The members suggested that assessment report of repair and renovation be prepared and put up in the next meeting of committee. The panel found that all the dhobi ghats are being run by societies excluding Modern Dhobi Ghat situated at sector 15. They found that out of eight dhobi ghats only one Modern Dhobi ghat situated at sector 15 is paying monthly rent to the Municipal Corporation. While the other dhobi ghats being run by the societies are only paying electricity water bills no rate list found in these dhobi ghats.

The committee asked the concerned engineers to prepare auction notice to auction these dhobi ghats situated at prime location in the city through e-tendering to generate revenue to the MCC.

          मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि जिस प्रकार से प्रदेश के लोगों ने गत माह के दौरान धर्मनगरी कुरुक्षेत्र में सूर्यग्रहण मेले तथा सावन माह की शिवरात्रि पर मंदिरों में पवित्र गंगा जलाभिषेक के दौरान कोविड-19 के नियमों की पालना की है, ठीक उसी तरह से उन्हें हरियाली तीज के अवसर पर भी पालना करनी होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि हालांकि सावन माह को पवित्र माह माना गया है और हरियाणा तीज के बाद इसमें रक्षाबंधन का त्यौहार भी पड़ता है, इसलिए इस माह को भाई-बहन के पवित्र रिश्ते के रूप में भी जाना जाता है।

Water Supply & Sewerage Disposal Committee meeting held

Chandigarh, July 22:- A meeting of Water Supply & Sewerage Disposal Committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Anil Kumar Dubey and attended by other members of committee namely Sh. Hardeep Singh, Sh. Bharat Kumar, Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Sh. Jagtar Singh, Sh. Dalip Sharma, Sh. Gurpreet Dhillon, Haji Mohd. Khushird Ali and concerned officers of MCC.

The committee members discussed and decided following important issues related to water supply and sewerage disposal:

1.     Replacement of standby 6.3/8 MVA power transformer installed at 66 KV substation for water works Kajauli as deposit work at an estimated cost of Rs. 21.55 lacs.

2.     The details of non-revenue water supply and leakage should be placed before the next meeting of the committee.

3.     The committee observed that the water supply, sewerage and storm water system is essential service being provided by the MCC and suitable steps be taken in this regard to avoid health hazardous in all the villages. The members also sought proper detailed list of tubewells falling in the villages.

4.     The committee asked the concerned officers to initiate campaign in the villages to allot water connection after settlement of their old water bill disputes.

5.     The committee also discussed the issue of water supply bylaws to regulate the water tanker service in city.

6.     The committee asked the concerned engineers to check the illegal boring of tubewells in institutes and tap them immediately to ensure health and hygiene of citizens.

7.     The committee members sought list of all toilet blocks maintained by the Self Help Groups under the jurisdiction of MCC.

8.     The members asked the officers to put up status of mobile water ATM scheme in the next meeting to take appropriate action.

9.     The committee asked the concerned engineers to pursue the case of deposit work for provision of hot line at Kajauli Water works.

10.            The members were of the view that developmental works being carried out by the Municipal Corporation be intimated to the respected area councilor prior to the execution.

A Plantation Drive was undertaken  today by the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, Panjab University. Total number of 30 saplings of ficus plants were planted in a row outside the Departmental Museum,informed  Dr. Paru Bal Sidhu, Chairperson . The Horticulture staff and JE Mr. Singla provided  all necessary help and support for this endeavour undertaken by the department.

With the initiatives of Ministry of Human Resource and Development, under the aegis of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching, the Center for Academic Leadership and Education Management (CALEM) running in Panjab University Chandigarh took an initiative to arrange an online seven days Faculty Development Programme from July 15-20, 2020 on the theme of “Technology and Instructional Reforms with reference to Online Teaching, Learning and Evaluation”.

The course was coordinated by Dr Vishal Sharma,Coordinator, Swayam, Dr Kanwalpreet Kaur ,Chairperson, IETVE, Prof. Kirandeep Singh ,Chairperson, Deptt. of Education; Prof. Jatinder Grover ,Coordinator CALEM and Dean, Faculty of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

          Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh welcomed all the dignitaries and participants. He shared that the main objective of this faculty development programme is to train the faculty participants and fully prepare and equip them with online teaching-learning tools. Learning of these tools and techniques will help the faculty members to design their own online courses as well as E-content for the online teaching, learning and evaluation. He said that our teachers have to use this opportunity to refine their skills for managing instructions in the virtual classroom.

Prof. S.P. Bansal, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh Technical university, Hamirpur (H.P.) was the Chief guest in the valedictory session of this one week workshop. He highlighted that the lockdown has provided enough space as well as an opportunity to the faculty for learning and practicing the various tools and techniques necessary for managing online teaching. The need is to train the teachers about using the technology tools to supplement and complement the learning. He further stress upon the use of various digital learning initiatives of Government of India in the online teaching and learning.

Prof. Jatinder Grover, Dean Faculty of education and Coordinator CALEM shared that Centre for academic Leadership and Educational Management read the report of this one week Faculty development program. He told that more than 700 participants from 35 universities from India got registered for this workshop and successfully completed the same. Various resource persons from different national institutes delivered their lectures and conducted training in workshop mode. In these sessions all the participants performed the hands on training on different tools and techniques and also submitted their assignments. They have been told about the best practices to be followed in online teaching, best virtual learning platforms and use of open education resources in their teaching. Dr. Kanwalpreet Kaur, proposed vote of thanks to all dignitaries and participants.

Commissioner attends VC on PM Svanidhi yojna

Chandigarh, July 20:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh today attended a VC with Ms. Sukriti Likhi, Joint Secretary, Govt. of India, who is also Nodal officer, PM Svanidhi Yojna (PM Street Vendor’s Atamnirbhar Nidhi) for Chandigarh.

Mayor flags off 13 tractors for maintenance of parks & road berms

Chandigarh, July 20:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh flagged off 13 tractors here today for maintenance of parks and road berms in presence of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

While sharing information about the tractors, the Mayor briefed that these 13 tractors have been purchased under the landscaping work at Rs. 50 lacs. She said that these tractors will be used for running shrubmaster, which is used for removal/cutting of grass from V-3 to V-6 roads and parks in the city.

She said that some tractors will be used to carry water tankers for irrigation in the city parks & green belts and for watering the plants in various road berms & central verges etc. throughout city.

She further said that few tractors will be used for scientific disposal of removed grass, dry leaves and horticulture waste from the parks and other areas. Other landscaping work by leveling and dressing of earth work in parks and road berms will also be carried out with the support of these tractors, she added.

Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, Sh. K.P. Singh, Superintending Engineer, Sh. Pritpal Singh, Executive Engineer, Horticulture wing, MCC were also present during the flagging off ceremony.

Dhobi ghat committee meeting held

Chandigarh, July 20:- A meeting of the committee constituted to generate revenue from the Dhobi ghats was held here today under the chairmanship of Shakti Parkash Devshali and attended by other members of committee namely Smt. Asha Kumari Jaswal, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu, Smt. Ravinder Kaur Gujral, Sh. Charanjiv Singh and Sh. Ravinder Sharma & Sh. Dharminder Sharma, Executive Engineers, Roads division No. 2 and 3, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

During the meeting, the members discussed various issues related to Dhobi ghats including the following important topics:

·        The committee observed that temporary repair of roofs, floors and boundary walls alongwith provision of toilet blocks be done after inspection by the committee members.

·        The members suggested that terms and conditions regarding the policy be reviewed in the next meeting.

·        The committee members have discussed and resolved that rates should be fixed for washing the different types of clothes, so that public is not harassed.

·        The members also suggested that Dhobi Ghats situated at sectors should be provided with modern facilities and latest technologies.

·        The Chairperson alongwith the Committee Members have decided that open auction or e-tendering as per the decision of General House should be conducted after fixing proper reserve price.

The Committee members have decided to visit all the dhobi ghats in city on 22nd and 23rd July, 2020 to take stock of the infrastructure over there.

अब शहर में चलेगी इलेक्ट्रिक साइकिल

अब शहर में चलेगी इलेक्ट्रिक साइकिल।

अब 30 सिंतबर तक प्रशासन द्वारा शहर में इलेक्ट्रिक साइकिल चलाने की सुविधा शहरवासियों को दी जाएगी है। जिसके अनुसार शहर के 25 डॉकिंग स्टेशन से सेक्टर-17, 43 बस स्टैंड, PU, PGI, GMSH-16, पेक, सेक्रेटेरिएट,  पंजाब एंड हरियाणा हाईकोर्ट, सुखना लेक, रोज गार्डन के रूट पर 100 ई-साइकिल चलेंगी।

शहर में प्रदूषण कम करने व लोगों के फिट व हेल्थी रहने के लिए प्रशासन द्वारा साइक्लिंग को काफी प्रमोट किया जा रहा है। साइकिल चलाने वाले लोगों को अन्य वाहनों की तरह से अलग से सुविधा भी दी जा रही है। शहर में सुरक्षा को ध्यान में रखते हुए साइकिल के लिए अलग से साइकिल ट्रैक बनाया गया है।

शहर के लोगों ने भी साइकिल चलाने के प्रति उत्साह दिखाया है। वर्तमान समय में शहर में बहुत से लोग खासतौर पर शहर के युवा वर्ग के लोग साइक्लिंग करते नजर आते है। सुखना लेक पर भी सुबह व शाम के समय सैर के लिए आने वाले लोग अन्य वाहन की बजाए साइकिल से लेक पर पहुंचते है। जिससे सुखना लेक की पार्किंग में अन्य वाहनों की तुलना साइकिल अधिक नजर आती है। जिस कारण सुखना की पार्किंग में खड़ी कर गई लोगों साइकिल को सुरक्षा के लिए पार्किंग में सिक्योरिटी की तैनात कर दी गई है।

आधा घंटे साइकिल चलाने के लगेंगे 5 रूपये

ई-साइकिल से लोग PGI , PU, सेक्रेटेरिएट, हाईकोर्ट जा सकेंगें। सुबह और शाम को सुखना लेक और रॉक गार्डन पर साइकिल से आने जाने लगेंगे। हालांकि यह कंपनी तय करेगी कि किस सेक्टर या पॉइंट पर डॉकिंग स्टेशन बनाने है।

इलेक्ट्रिक साइकिल चलाने के लिए बनाने होंगे स्मार्ट कार्ड

यदि लोगों को इन इलेक्ट्रिक साइकिल को चलाना है तो उन्हें स्मार्ट कार्ड बनवाना होगा। कंपनी आइडेंटेटी प्रूफ पर साइकिल चलाने के लिए देगी। स्मार्ट कार्ड धारक एक डॉकिंग स्टेशन से लेकर दूसरे डॉकिंग स्टेशन पर इलेक्ट्रिक या साधारण साइकिल खड़े करेंगे तब उन्हें स्टेशन पर लगे टैग से स्मार्ट कार्ड टच करना होगा। तभी उनके खाते से आधे घंटे के हिसाब से पांच रुपए कंपनी के अकाउंट में चले जाएंगे। स्मार्ट कार्ड बनवाने के लिए आधार कार्ड या किसी अन्य पहचान पत्र देना होगा।

University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management, Panjab University, Chandigarh   organized a National Level webinar today on “Wellness Tourism” .

Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University while speaking on the topic said wellness of all helps in removing tensions and keeps one physically and mentally fit. He also shared that from last few months Panjab university has organized 250 webinars and has submitted 30 projects till date. He congratulated Dr. Anish Slath Director UIHTM and the entire organizing team of UIHTM for the excellent topic of the webinar and shared his wish to sign a MOU with S-VYASA University, Bengaluru in the near future.

Chef Ram Babu, key speaker who is known as millet chef add the importance of millets in the food. He said that a chef must have the quality of kindness and must prepare the food as one does meditation. One must be happy and cooking must be taken as God’s blessing and as an opportunity to feed the souls and he compared the food with prasad. He insisted to take local and seasonal food. He said millets are full of protein, energy and are gluten free. So, everyone must add and replace the wheat and rice with millets in their daily routine. He said we are privileged to be Indian as there is plenty of millets available. He said even millets are good for high B.P patients, diabetic patients and pregnant ladies too.  

Dr. O.P Singh another key speaker Prof. O.P Singh, head kaya chikitsa, Banaras Hindu University talked about Ayurveda and yoga and advice to improve the spiritual and social health. He also talked about panchakarma to purify the body and remove the toxins .He also talk about the indigenous cows’ milk which is available in India and is healthy and full of nutrition. Moreover he adds that one should remove wheat and white rice from diet and must add millets, gur and black rice to stay fit. 

For the first time through this webinar, UIHTM has taken the initiative to donate the fee collected through the webinar to PM Care fund  . 40 Participants registered for the webinar and each participant paid Rs 200/- for the registration.
