Chandigarh, August 18:- A meeting of committee constituted by Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh to enhance revenue sources of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today, which was attended by members of the committee namely Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Sh. Anil Kumar Dubey, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu, Sh. Satish Kumar Kainth, Sh. Ajay Dutta, Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner, Sh. Sanjay Arora, SE (B&R), and Sh. Krishan Pal Singh, SE, Horticulture, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
During the meeting the financial status and sources to enhance the income of Municipal Corporation was discussed in detail and the following resolutions were recommended:
· The committee discussed and decided that the entry ticket to the gardens/green belts had already been rejected by the General House and this committee may not discuss about the resolution.
· Door to door waste collection charges may be implemented in the villages recently merged into the Municipal Corporation.
· Proposal be prepared about regularization of water connection to the residents outside lal dora and amendment in water bye-laws.
· Govt. institutions be included in addition to general public for the one time settlement of water bill defaulters with suggestions of relaxation @ 10% for one time payment, relaxation @ 7% for two installments and relaxation @ 5% for three installments. The committee also recommended to create awareness among masses about the schemes.
· Proposals be prepared about displaying advertisements in toilet blocks located at Gardens/green belts.
· Advertisement proposal for connecting passages to the different city markets.
· Booking of rooms in Community centres on rent bases.
· Option be explored to run Gyms in community centres through PPP mode.
· Indoor and outdoor space at community centres be given on rent for organizing exhibitions.
· Options be explored to rent out gym and exhibition hall in Mahila Bhawan, sector 38.
· Possibilities be explored to curtail expenditure on celebration of Chrysanthemum show and Rose Festival.
· Proposal be prepared to sale out pruned branches (fuel wood) through outsource bases.
· 20% cut in fuel to the office vehicles of all officers of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
The recommendations will be sent to the General House for further discussion and taking final decision on the agendas approved.
Chandigarh, August 18:- An urgent repair work of the intake chamber under GMADA at Water Works Kajauli has to be carried out by GMADA from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM on 19.8.2020. During this period, there will be no pumping from Water Works Kajauli to Water Works sector 39. Also the connection of 1000mm dia MS pipeline for supplying clear water from Water Works sector 39 to Water Works sector 32 and 52 will be done during the shutdown period and there will be no pumping from Water Works sector 39 to Water Works sector 52. So the timing of water supply for the whole city shall be as under:
Residents are advised to store adequate water in the morning of 19.8.2020 as per requirement as there will be no noon supply and also low pressure water supply in the evening as mentioned on above dates. Inconvenience caused is highly regretted. Residents are requested to bear with MCC.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date of submission of online Fresh & RR admission of all Masters, Bachelor, Diplomas & Certificates programmes up to 31st August, 2020 for the July-2020 session. Details of the IGNOU academic programmes for the July, 2020 session can be accessed from the link https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/. The prospective learners can apply for Masters/Bachelor/Diploma/Certificate programmes of the University on the official website, informed The Regional Director of IGNOU Regional centre Chandigarh Dr. A.K.Dimri. Last date of submission of ‘online’ admission form for July session was earlier fixed for July 31.
For all those candidates, who have been planning to get admission in any of the IGNOU courses can apply for the same online. Firstly the candidate has to register themselves (if not registered) on the official website i.e https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/. Whereas those who have already registered can simply login with the id- password and fill up the application form for the admission in the July session at Indira Gandhi National Open University for 2020. Also, before filling up the IGNOU admission form, candidates must go through the general instructions, eligibility criteria, fee details, duration, etc . on the official website. Prof Raj Kumar Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh alongwith senior PU officials unfurled the Flag and extended heartiest felicitations to the PU family on the auspicious occasion of 74th Independence Day. Thereafter, PU VC was given guard of honor by two contigents of PU Security.
He lauded the contribution of PU faculty in their immense contribution during the challenging times of Covid-19 pandemic and by making all efforts in keeping all channels of communication open with the students.
He said that the University is very proud of its rich heritage and a situation like covid has not dampened the spirits. Together, all the challenges can be faced for taking the University to greater heights, he added. PU VC appreciated and welcomed the launch of the New Education Policy which will definitely take us into a new world of education. He urged all to work towards formulating an aggressive strategy for a roadmap to a new vision. Quoting Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi that every challenge brings an opportunity ,likewise PU also has to progress diligently towards Atma Nirbhar India.
He further added that during the period of lockdown with the efforts of all, PU has approved more than 23 projects through various agencies worth Rs 1750 lakhs. Keeping in mind the situation, permission for online Vivas has also been given and till now, more than 90 online Vivas have been conducted. He further informed that due to covid-19 pandemic, PU has initiated providing online degrees through National Academic Depository.
He informed that in the current year 143 PU faculty have been promoted under CAS program, around 600 non-teaching staff have been promoted and the benefit of Dearness Allowance has been extended to 333 daily wagers.
Earlier Professor Karamjeet Singh, Registrar in his welcome address shared that the 74th Independence Day is being celebrated in a relatively low level in view of Covid 19 crises. He further stressed that all have to join hands in doing the rightful things since independence and responsibility go hand in hand.
Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Department of Hindi presented a vote of thanks for the event. Ms. Pankaj Mala, Department of Music anchored the programme.

Consequent upon the advice conveyed by the Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh Administration, Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor in exercise of powers conferred under regulation 12.2, Chapter II-B, PU Calendar Volume I, 2007 has postponed for the time being the date(s) of election of all the constituencies with immediate effect for two months or till the MHA Covid-19 pandemic guidelines are revised and permission granted by the Chandigarh Administration whichever is earlier.
Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh informed that informed that only the date of polling has been changed and rest of the schedule remains same. He further informed that new dates for the conduct of senate elections for all the constituencies will be announced after receiving suitable directives from the competent authorities.
Chandigarh, August 15:-The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has organized a simple function to commemorate the Independence Day in MCC building, Sector 17, here today. Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
While addressing the councilors and senior officers/HODs and representatives from NGOs on the occasion after unfurling the National Flag, Mayor said that this was a day of introspection for all of us to see if we have fulfilled the dreams of our great freedom fighters.
The Mayor expressed her gratitude towards Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh and all the officers of Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation for their restless services rendered during the COVID-19.
She said that the officers of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh under the leadership of Municipal Commissioner Sh. K.K. Yadav used innovative approaches and its experience in essential supply alongwith ‘break the chain’ campaigns came in handy to quickly deploy resources and put up a timely and comprehensive response in collaboration with key stakeholders and citizens.
She further said that active surveillance, setting up of command and control centre for COVID-19 at MCC office premises for monitoring, capacity-building of frontline workers, risk communication and strong community engagement, and addressing the psychosocial needs of the vulnerable population are some of the key strategic interventions implemented by the Administration and Corporation that kept the disease in control.
She further said that early release of technical guidelines on contact tracing, quarantine, isolation, hospitalization, infection prevention and control, and extensive capacity building for all cadres of officials and other interlinked departments played a critical role in managing the situation.
The Mayor said that under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi ‘PM SVANidhi’ scheme, the vendors of city are availing a working capital loan of upto Rs. 10 thousand, repayable in monthly installments in the tenure of one year without any kind of guaranty and it is implemented through the DAY-NULM cell of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
She also mentioned that Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. registered in the India cycle4change challenge in partnership with various stakeholders, local champions and citizens. She said that community engagement is a crucial component of the initiative; therefore, the CSCL is engaging residents of the city in making this programme a success.
While expressing her concern over social distancing, the Mayor appealed the citizens of Chandigarh to maintain “Do Gaj Doori” and take all precautions keeping in view the spread of COVID-19.

चंडीगढ, 14 अगस्त – स्वतंत्रता दिवस-2020 के अवसर पर हरियाणा के 12 पुलिस अधिकारियों को विशिष्ट सेवाओं के लिए राष्ट्रपति पुलिस पदक और सराहनीय सेवाओं के लिए पुलिस पदक से सम्मानित करने के लिए चुना गया है।
हरियाणा पुलिस के प्रवक्ता ने आज यहां यह जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि अतिरिक्त पुलिस महानिदेशक, प्रशासन के पद पर तैनात श्री अरशिंदर ंिसंह चावला को विशिष्ट सेवाओं के लिए राष्ट्रपति पुलिस पदक से सम्मानित किया गया है, जबकि 11 अन्य पुलिस अधिकारियों को सराहनीय सेवाओं के लिए पुलिस पदक से अलंकृत किया गया है। सराहनीय सेवाओं के लिए पुलिस पदक से सम्मानित होने वालों में चंडीगढ में तैनात इंस्पेक्टर रामलाल, रोहतक के सब-इंस्पेक्टर राकेश मनी, पंचकूला के ओआरपी सब-इंस्पेक्टर महेंद्र सिंह, एचएपी मधुबन में सेवाएं दे रहे सब-इंस्पेक्टर जगदीेश प्रसाद, रेवाडी के सब-इंस्पेक्टर रविन्द्र सिंह, फरीदाबाद के सब-इंस्पेक्टर निहाल सिंह, पंचकुला में कार्यरत सब-इंस्पेक्टर महांिसंह, शहजादपुर अंबाला में एसएचओ टैªफिक के पद पर तैनात एग्जम्टी सब-इंस्पेक्टर रामकुमार, करनाल में एएसआई साइबर सेल कर्मबीर ंिसह, पंचकुला में एएसआई क्राइम राजेश कुमार तथा स्टेट क्राइम ब्यूरो पंचकूला के एग्जम्टी एएसआई शिव कुमार शामिल हैं।

Online 2nd Balram Ji Dass Tandon Memorial Lecture organized by PU
‘Late Sh Balram Ji Dass Tandon was a leader of the Ist Generation who belonged to the Politics of Ideology and not Politics of Power’ said Sh. J.P.Nadda, National President of Bhartiya Janta Party while virtually addressing the 2nd Balram Ji Dass Tandon Memorial Lecture organised today by Panjab University and Balram Ji Dass Tandon Charitable Foundation.
He further added that Balram Ji Dass Tandon was a great Statesman and a great human being who used to take along everyone with his ideology. He used to give pious advice to all and was respected across the parties with his aura of peace. With his dedication and commitment towards party, he spread his ideology amongst all whom he touched in his life and even from jail, he used to uplift the morale of not only his family members but also of the party workers. Sh. Nadda also shared about his personal relations with him. He further added that carrying the legacy of Balram Ji Dass Tandon, the country is moving ahead on the path of Governance under the able leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi.
He mentioned further that W.H.O. appreciated that PM Modi has addressed health issues as well as economic issues simultaneously during the Corona Pandemic. Sh. Nadda gave details of various schemes of Government of India which is helping in reaching out to the masses. Today, the world is looking towards India, he added.
Sh. Sanjay Tandon, President, Balram Ji Dass Tandon Charitable Foundation, in his address shared that how as a father Sh Tandon had inspired and motivated him for various things in his life. He was motivated by his father for blood donation on his 18th Birthday and till now, 23 blood donations have been organized by him. He always encouraged them to exercise regularly, and inculcated in them spiritual and religious values. The same values are being inculcated in the next generations too, he added.
Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh extended his warm welcome on behalf of PU family to Sh. J.P. Nadda Ji and to Sh. Sanjay Tandon and his family. He shared that Balram Ji Dass Tandon was not only a political worker but also a social worker and a writer from whose life there is much to learn.
Earlier, a brief film on the life history of Sh. Balram Ji Dass Tandon was shown and floral tributes were given by Sh. Sanjay Tandon and Prof. Raj Kumar.
