Around 21790 students of Undergraduate/Post Graduate/Other Professional Courses including USOL/Private appeared today in the ongoing even semester online examinations being conducted by Panjab University, informed Dr. Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examination, PU. Total of 73 exams were conducted in 2 slabs. COE informed that the exams went off smoothly without any issues.
Smt. Heera Negi, area councilor of ward No. 13 formally started the pipeline laying work for storm water drainage system infront of BSNL society, Sector 50, Chandigarh. Sh. Rajender Sharma, Vijay Kumar Bali, Chirag Aggarwal, N.K. Sahi, S.K. Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Mr. Rai, Amit Gupta, Yogita Chauhan and office bearers of Resident Welfare Association, BSNL Society, Sector 50 were present during the occasion.
She informed that the pipe line including 450 mm SWD line 369 mtr. and 400 mm SWD line 245 mtr. will be laid from Sai Enclave Sector 49 and BSNL Society Sector 50 under Ward Development Fund at an estimated cost of Rs. 15.63 lacs.

Chandigarh, July 5:- Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh today started a special cleanliness drive of N-choe running through various sectors of the city. The drive was formally started from sector 23 by cleaning of the choe including cutting of grass in the boundary area of choe and removing garbage along with plastic bags from the nullah.
The Mayor was accompanied by Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, Sh. Krishan Pal Singh, SE, Horticulture, Sh. Arun Sood, councilor and Smt. Sunita Dhawan, area councilor, all concerned Executive Engineers and SDEs and representatives of resident welfare association.
During the drive, the horticulture division of MCC removed wild grass from the boundary areas besides pruning the trees along the footpath from adjoining parks. The sanitation department of MCC lifted the garbage from the choe besides the labour of B&R wing lifting malba from the both sides of choe.
The Mayor instructed all the MCC officials to clean the choe from the city part besides prepare a plan to clean all the water bodies including ponds in the villages throughout city.
A webinar on short story writers from Jammu and Kashmir was organized by the Department of Urdu, Panjab University, Chandigarh at the 8th online meeting of the Bazam-e-Adab here today.
Dr. Ali Abbas, Coordinator of the Department, highlighted the salient features of the Urdu literature produced by the region of Jammu and Kashmir. In her paper research scholar, Shamim talked about the social life as presented in the short stories of the region of Jammu & Kashmir.

The High Level Committee of experts under the Chairmanship of Prof. R.P. Chandigarh, June 30:- A meeting of Sanitation Committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Bharat Kumar and attended by other members of committee namely Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, Smt. Asha Jaswal, Sh. Charanjiv Singh, Smt. Farmila, Dr. Amrit Warring, MOH and concerned Chief Sanitary Inspectors of MCC.
During the meeting the committee members discussed various important issues:
· Pending Salaries may be given as per the reports of GPS watches as soon as possible.
· As approved in the General House meeting, the list of the employees in all the wards to be provided to the respective area councillors.
· Repair and maintenance of GPS watches be ensured.
· The provision may be made of 200 no. cycles carts and 50 no. Hands carts.

During the meeting the committee members discussed various important issues like installation of house indicators in various sectors, repair and maintenance of gates to the parks and schools, installation of paver blocks and PCC tiles etc.
The following agendas were approved by the committee:
· Rough cost estimate special repair of civil dispensary sector 49, Chandigarh at Rs 7.09 lacs.
· Rough cost estimate for repair and renovation of Bahai Cemetery Cremation ground sector 25, Chandigarh at Rs 9.59 lacs.
Around 66700 students of Undergraduate/Post Graduate/Other Professional Courses including USOL/Private appeared on Day 2 of the ongoing even semester online examinations being conducted by Panjab University, informed Dr. Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examination, PU. Total of 49 exams were conducted on Day 2 of the Exams in 2 slabs of 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
COE informed that the exams went off smoothly without any issues.
COE informed that around 2.3 lakh students will be taking various even exams being conducted by PU over the span of 34 days.
Around 42850 students of Undergraduate/Post Graduate/Other Professional Courses including USOL/Private have appeared today in the even semester online examination conducted by Panjab University which commenced today, informed Dr. Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examination, PU. Total of 60 exams were conducted on Day 1 of the Exams in 2 slabs of 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
COE informed that all the Colleges/Departments downloaded the question papers as per the scheduled time from PU Website.
