Revelries mark culmination of Pinjore Heritage Festival

Fervour and excitement marked the concluding day of the 12th Pinjore Heritage Festival as the young and old, both, reached the majestic Pinjore Gardens in droves on a bright Sunday. The vibrant ambience of the Festival blended with entertaining cultural programmes, interesting competitions for school students and engaging activities promised a great outing for visitors on a pleasant Sunday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Vikas Yadav, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation further added that the Festival is an eagerly awaited calendar event and this year too, it has garnered a great response from people.
Throughout the day visitors thronged the unique feature created at the Festival, the Apna Ghar of Haryana to catch a glimpse of the weavers, potters and ironsmiths demonstrating their skills. They also lapped up their economically-priced handmade products. Jameel Khan from Panchkula showcased the hand woven daris, floor mats etc made of sheep wool. He says this is his traditional profession and his family has been engaged in this art since generations. People
looking to spruce up their decor with some ethnic items, Jameel Khan has everything to offer. Another unique attraction is the collection of vintage coins and stamps on display. The speciality of this particular exhibition is that the collection of currency notes with the number 786, coins stacked in serial number and many other vintage postal stamps and card each with a unique order of collection.
The masqueraders emoting as Lord Krishna, Bhole Shankar, Kaali Mata and Lord Hanuman were also a centre of attraction at the Festival, as their nuances and mannerisms amused many. Visitors lined up to get pictures and selfies clicked with them. Rajasthan-based siblings Shamshad, Firoz and Farid Khan belong to a Rajasthani Muslim community came all the way to the Festival to perform as masqueraders (bahrupias). Shamshad tells that this is an art passed on
to them from their previous generations and now they improvise their skills to match the need of the changing times. From being spies to Kings at one time and now they are hardcore entertainers and people like to click selfies with them.
Students from various schools showed an enthusiastic participation for fancy Dress, Face Painting and Mehndi competitions. Hundreds of school children took part in these competitions. Each student presented the best of their creativity in the various competitions.
Revving up the entertainment quotient, the selfie points of Mughal Style cut-outs are a major attraction for youngsters. Also making a style statement is the stall where people are lining up to get traditional Pugris (head gear) tied. The giddha, bhangra and Ghoomar, Himachali Nati dancers from the North Zone Culture Centre, Patiala gave riveting performances and kept the visitors glued to every individual performance. The Baazigar team from Punjab performed daredevil acrobats and attracted large crowds throughout their performance.
The Crafts Bazaar was another crowd puller, as people got to shop from an array of pocket- friendly handlooms and handicraft stalls set up at the Festival. The visitors enjoyed mouth- watering dishes and street food at the Food Court.
Shri Randhir Singh Gollen, Chairman, Haryana Tourism Corporation, drew curtains on the 12th Pinjore Heritage Festival at Pinjore Gardens on Sunday evening. Sh. Vijai vardhan extended a hearty welcome to the Governor and all the dignitaries present on the occasion. Shri Randhir Singh Gollen complimented the efforts of Haryana Tourism in organising of this Festival and he further added that this Festival reflects the true heritage and culture of the state. Governor, Haryana also interacted with the folk artistes performing for the evening cultural programme at the Festival.
Following which the famous Bollywood Singer Madhushree gave a mesmerizing live performance. She sang to a packed house and sang medley of numbers. The crowds swayed her famous songs sung along her with the star word by word.
