MCC to extend big relief to the 4 societies
*MCC to set up first of its kind decentralised waste processing plant*
*Mayor agrees to bring agenda in ensuing general house meeting*
Chandigarh, April 19:- Giving big relief to the four societies i.e. Pushpak Society, Progressive Society, BSNL Society and Kendriya Vihar Society, sector 49-50, which had been imposed with heavy penalty due to non compliance of the Municipal Solid Waste Rules 2016, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has decided to consider the request of local residents of these societies and place agenda in the ensuing General House meeting of MCC.
While sharing the development, Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh said that on the request of area councillor Sh. Rajinder Sharma, the agenda of these four societies namely Pushpak Society, Progressive Society, BSNL Society and Kendriya Vihar Society, sector 49-50 will be taken up in the ensuing general house meeting.
The Mayor said that the Municipal Corporation had imposed heavy penalty to these societies for non compliance of the MSW rules by virtue of bulk waste generators. He said that Defaulter boards had also been installed at entry points of these societies.
The Mayor said that the city’s first decentralised waste processing plant is being set up and these societies have agreed to process all their wet waste themselves, in the locality itself. Now, on the request of the local residents and area councillor, their issue of non compliance society will be brought into the general house for consideration.
