For Detailed

Panchkula July 11 – Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker and Panchkula MLA, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta today inspected the herbal park adjacent to Ghaggar river to assess the damage caused to the herbal park due to heavy rains.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Priyanka Soni, DCP Sumer Pratap Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sachin Gupta, and other district administration officials were present during the inspection.

The officials informed Mr. Gupta that approximately 60-65 percent of the park has been washed away due to the high water flow in the river.

During the visit, Sh. Gupta expressed that the herbal park was considered a source of pride for Panchkula and the neighboring sectors across the river. He highlighted that the recent natural calamity in the district has resulted in the destruction of several bridges and significant damage to the basic infrastructure. Although the damage assessment report is yet to be received, it is estimated that there could be losses amounting to crores of rupees.

Sh. Gupta stated that he will request the Chief Minister to provide a special package for the repair and restoration work in Panchkula district once the situation improves.

Local citizens present at the site informed Sh. Gupta that people are treating the area near the Ghaggar river as an adventure spot. In response, he directed the district administration to remain vigilant and strictly enforce Section 144, ensuring that no individuals venture near the river.

Sh. Gupta assured that the government is fully committed to supporting the people during this challenging time. He appealed to the public to remain patient, promptly report any untoward incidents to the administration as a precautionary measure, and maintain a safe distance from the river until the water recedes.
