Chandigarh, June 10:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor and Sh. K.K. Yadav, I.A.S., Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh today honored the Civil Society Organizations i.e. GNG Skills, CDCL, SEBIZ, Nirankari Mission, IFONA Punjab for extending their sustenance support and handholding while combating COVID 19 humanitarian crisis in Chandigarh for economic weaker sections and marginalized communities.
On this occasion, the Mayor gave Certificate of Appreciation to volunteers who have rendered their services during humanitarian response relief. Shri. K. K. Yadav, Commissioner thanked all the civil society organizations support to Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in crisis on his request for disadvantage sections.
Chandigarh, June 10:- A meeting of the Environment & City Beautification Committee of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Hardeep Singh and attended by other members of the committee namely Davesh Moudgil, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Sh. Davinder Singh Babla and other concerned officers of MCC.
During the meeting it was discussed and decided that Tertiary Treated water supply be made available in all the big parks and green belts throughout city. The members were of the view that all the 5 entry points of Chandigarh be beautified and agenda in this regard be prepared. The committee members asked the concerned engineers to communicate the recommendations of the committee regarding pruning of trees inside the school premises, whose branches falls either on road or road berms.
The members asked the concerned officers to prepare proper schedule of plantation of trees and shrubs throughout city and put up in the next meeting. The committee decided that theme based plantation be done on V-3 roads. The committee asked the concerned officers to repair the damaged water hydrant in the park to avoid leakage of potable water.

Children & Young Environmentalist Conference on Environmental Protection (CoEP 2020) was organized jointly by Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Ankur School, Chandigarh, Chandigarh Pollution. Control Committee (CPCC- Chandigarh), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), North Region, Chandigarh, Health Care Without Harm & Lung Care Foundation. This conference provided a platform to engage eminent scientists, students, & children together to build a sustainable society, which cares for our common future. This event is first-of-its-kind focusing on children and youth with an aim to create awareness & sensitize them about the environment.
Focusing on the theme of World Environment Day – ‘Celebrating Biodiversity,’ & considering the current global situation due to COVID19 an online opportunity session was arranged for the school children under which various competitions were held. More than 350 participants registered for the event. In the morning session, class wise performance of school children were done on the themes including making a family tree with a message on Save Environment (Class 1-2); Slogan writing on Tree Plantation (Class 3-4); Pot painting (Class 5-6) ; making paper bags along with slogans (Class 7-8) and creating best out of waste (Class 9-12) . . In the first session, the moderators Dr. Parminder Duggal, Principal, Ankur School, Chandigarh, Dr. Suman Mor, Chairperson, Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, Additional Professor-Environment Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh emphasized the saying “we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children, Considering this , it is a time to reflect on our relationship with Nature and surroundings, and focus on the planet’s long-term survival.
Prof R.K Singla, Dean of Universsity Instructtions, Panjab University while appreciating the efforts of organizers, emphasized that we are experiencing irreversible biodiversity loss at an unprecedented scale. It is collective duty of each of us to preserve environment enough to keep our place habitable for the coming generations.
Sh. Debendra Dalai, IFS, Director of Environment & Chief conservation of forests & Wildlife, UT, Chandigarh highlighted that the increasing human activities is resulting in adverse health implications and impact on livelihood. He emphasized that it is high time to embark on a regime of sound policy enforcement and aware people about the challenges and the need for environment conservation.
Prof. A.S. Raghubanshi, Director, Institute of Environment & Sustainable Development, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, keynote speaker delivered talk on Understanding our rich Biodiversity and need to protect it. He taught about the fragile nature of the environment that we live in and devise ways on how to preserve it for the generations to come.
Session 1 was chaired by Prof Gufran Beig, Scientist G, Director System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) Pune, Dr. Vimal K. Hatwal, Joint Director, MoEFCC, North Regional Office, Chandigarh. ,Prof. Arvind Kumar, Chairman, Centre for Chest Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, India; Founder & Managing Trustee: Lung Care Foundation, India Children & Health highlighted basic aspects of air pollution and focused on Vulnerability of Children to Pollution & Need for Special Care. He stressed on how air pollution is affecting human health and various organs including brain development, IQ, lungs etc. Prof. Prashant Kumar Founding Director, Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE) Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of Surrey, UK shared his views on COVID & Pollution. How COVID-19, though having bad effect on health, has helped in a positive way to rejuvenate the nature. The second session was chaired by Sh. T.C. Nautiyal, IFS, Member Secretary, Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee, Chandigarh and Dr. Vikas Singh, Scientist SE, National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL), ISRO, Gadanki, Tirupati. During the second session, Dr. Suman Mor, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh enlightened the participants on various tools of Engagement with Children on Environmental Communication – Kids, Vaayu & Corona. On this special day dedicated to our Environment, there is need to raise awareness and inspire individuals to take action by changing their lifestyles. She highlighted the ways to boost the interest of school children to involve in environmental awareness activities. She discussed best practices such as public health shield and efforts to sensitize children to fight covid-19.
Ms Matrushri Shetty, Director Program, Lung Care Foundation presented on “Role of Young Citizens in Environment Protection – Leading by Example “. She encouraged and inspired the students that how students can take initiatives to create world record to bring attention to the growing menace of air pollution, anti cracker movements, online campaigns, zero waste movements etc.
Session was chaired by Mrs. Shweta Narayan, Coordinator Healthy Energy Initiative India Dr. Parminder Duggal, Principal, Ankur School, Chandigarh During this session young budding environmentalists Asees Kandhari (Student, Grade XI) Fridays For Future , New Delhi shared words on promoting renewable energy to combat climate change by making strict decisions to survive on this planet. Aarushi Joshi, (Student Grade-X, Ankur School) stated that for better future creating environmental awareness among the masses and by bringing lifestyle changes for the good development of social and economic life is must.
Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, Additional Professor, PGIMER highlighted the importance for caring for the environment by inspiring, informing and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. Valedictory was addressed by Prof G.D. Puri, Dean Academics, PGIMER, Chandigarh who appreciated the efforts of PGIMER and PU to involve children and young in this conference so that they carry this learning forward for the lifetime. Prof. V.R. Sinha, Dean Research, Panjab University highlighted that this year’s celebrations, called upon people to explore the role of biodiversity and nature in providing the essential infrastructure that supports life on Earth and human development.

पंचकूला 7 जून- माता मनसा देवी श्राईन बोर्ड ने माता मनसा देवी मंदिर पंचकूला, काली माता मंदिर कालका को व्यवस्थित ढंग एवं बेहतर प्रबंधन करते हुए 9 जून से श्रद्वालुओं के दर्शनार्थ खोल दिया गया है। इसके लिए श्रद्वालुओं को आॅनलाईन एडवांस में बुकिंग करनी होगी।
उपायुक्त मुकेश कुमार आहूजा ने बताया कि 15 मिनट के एक स्लाॅट में केवल 90 व्यक्तियों के दर्शन करने की अनुमति दी जाएगी। इसके लिए श्रद्वालुओं को श्राईन बोर्ड की वैबसाईट डब्लु डब्लु डब्लु एमएएनएसएडीईवीआई डाॅट ओआरजीडाॅटइन (मनसादेवीडाॅटओरजीडाटइन) पर साधारण आवेदन में वैद्य आईडी के साथ अपलोड करना होगा। उसके बाद श्रद्वालु के मोबाईल नम्बर पर संदेश आएगा। इस संदेश को मंदिर में प्रवेश करते समय दिखाना होगा। दर्शनों के लिए श्रद्वालुओं को स्वंय या अपने परिवार या समूह में 5 मिनट का समय दिया जाएग तथा मंदिर प्रातः 6 से सांय 8.15 बजे तक दर्शनार्थ खुला रहेगा। उपायुक्त ने बताया कि श्रद्वालुओं को केवल ई दर्शन टोकन के माध्यम से ही मंदिर में दर्शनों किए जा सकेंगें। सभी श्रद्वालुओं को सरकार द्वारा जारी दिशा निर्देशोअनुसार आवश्यक सेवा कोविड नियमों का पालन करना होगा तथा मंदिर परिसर में किसी भी दरवाजे, दान पात्र, हैण्डल आदि को छूने की अनुमति नहीं होगी। श्रद्वालुओं के लिए भण्डारा, प्रसाद, धर्मशाला व मुण्डन घाट को खोलने की अनुमति नहीं दी गई है।
उपायुक्त ने बताया कि श्रद्वालुओं को शारीरिक दूरी का पालन करते हुए मास्क पहनना अनिवार्य है। इसके अलावा मंदिर परिसर में आते ही श्रद्वालुओं को हाथ व पैर धोना व सेनीटाईजेशन करने के साथ ही थर्मल स्केैनिंग भी की जाएगी। मंदिर परिसर में 65 साल से अधिक आयु के बुजुर्ग, 10 साल से कम आयु के बच्चे व गर्भवती महिलाओं को मंदिर परिसर में न आने की सलाह दी जाती है। श्राईन बोर्ड द्वारा श्रद्वालुओं की सुरक्षा एवं सिक्योरिटी के लिए आवश्यक प्रबंध किए गए है।

इस कांफ्रेंस के मुख्य उद्देश्य ” कोविड 19- अनलाकिंग आफ एजुकेशनल इंस्टीट्यूटशन तथा स्टैंडर्ड आपरेटिंग प्रोसिजर रहा। कांफ्रेंस में स्वागत भाषण देते हए एस सी डी सरकारी कालेज लुधियाना के प्रिंसिपल डॉ धर्म सिंह संधू ने कहा कि कोविड ने पूरे शिक्षा यन्त्र को ध्वस्त कर दिया है और अब हमें न्यू नार्मल की तरफ जाना होगा तथा ऑनलाइन टीचिंग , सोशल डिस्टनसिंग के साथ क्रोना के साथ जीना होगा। इस वर्चुअल कांफ्रेंस का उदघाटन पंजाब विश्विद्यालय के रजिस्ट्रार डॉ कर्मजीत सिंह ने किया। अपने उध्घाटनी भाषण में डॉ कर्मजीत सिंह ने कहा जिस प्रकार के हालात बने हुए हैं जुलाई 15, 2020 से पहले किसी प्रकार की परीक्षा नहीं करवाई जा सकती तथा न ही शिक्षा संस्थानों को खोला जा सकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस असमंजस के स्थिति में एक ऐसी स्ट्रेटिजी बनाये जाने की आवश्यकता है जिसमें ऑनलाइन टीचिंग को कारगर तरीके से माध्यम बनाया जाना होगा। उन्होंने कहा विश्विद्यालय इस पर काम कर रहा है तथा जल्द एक पालिसी की घोषणा भी जाएगी।
इस अवसर पर बोलते हुए पी सी एम ए के अध्यक्ष डॉ अश्विनी भल्ला ने कहा कि विश्वविद्यालयों को कालेजों को इस कोविड के समय अटानामी दी जानी चाहिए तथा अध्यापकों द्वारा दिये आंतरिक मूल्याँकन तथा पिछले समेस्टर का आधार लेकर तुरन्त नतीजो की घोषणा की जानी चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा डिजिटल डिवाइड को समाप्त करने के लिए सभी टी वी चेनल का 50% समय कक्षाओं के लिए आरक्षित किया जाना होगा तथा गरीब तथा गांवो में इंटेरनेट तथा बैंडविड्थ की कारगर व्यवस्था करनी होगी। म्युनिसिपल करपोरेशनज़, पंचायतों को सदृढ़ व्यवस्था से इस डिजिटल डिवाइड को पाटना होगा। उन्होंने संस्थाओं को खोलने से पहले स्टैंडर्ड आपरेटिंग प्रोसिजर को कारगर बनाने के लिए व्यापक कार्य करने होंगे तथा स्वास्थ्य विभाग से सर्टिफिकेशन के बाद ही संस्थाएं खोली जानी चाहिये।

Panjab University Dean Student office along with Wardens of Girls Hostel (3,10 & International) and Boys Hostel (2 &3) organized a Webinar entitled “MOOCS: NECESSITY DURING COVID-19 SCENARIO”. The main motive of this webinar was to have interaction of the students with DSWs, present the hostel’s current scenario and bring the hostel students at one platform. Another objective was to formally introduce them to the available MOOCs Platforms that can assist in the reading and learning process.
The event started with introduction to the New DSWs Prof S.K. Tomar (DSW) and Prof Sukhbir Kaur (DSW women). Prof Sukhbir addressed the students and gave them some tips how to boost your immune system by Ayurvedic and homeopathic means and told them the importance of being fit. Prof. Tomar addressed the students and asked them not to panic and gave them the assurance that the students will be updated about the university situations and decisions from time to time. He also asked the students to inculcate spirit of self-discipline during this difficult time. The introductory session was followed by lecture on MOOCs by Dr. Vishal Sharma, Swayam Coordinator of the Panjab University. He intorduced the faculty and students about online courses, their contents, structure and how it could be made part of our academic syllabi. The webinar was a great success and students were happy to interact with everyone.

Professor V. R. Sinha, Dean Research, Panjab University inaugurated, welcomed and presided over the Webinar. .
The speakers were well renowned Pharma Professionals like Prof Shailendra Saraf, Vice President, Pharmacy Council of India; Mr Pardeep Kumar Mattu, State Drug Controller-cum-Joint Commissioner, FDA, Punjab; Dr Anil Pareek, President Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, IPCA Laboratories, Mumbai; Prof Swarnlata Saraf, Director & Professor in Pharmacy, University Institute of Pharmacy, Pt. India even though being the largest producer of Pharmaceuticals in the world by volume heavily depends on China for about 70 percent of bulk drugs and raw materials for medicines. However the corona virus pandemic has largely impacted the supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) in the country. During these unprecedented times, the pharmaceutical industry has worked in a very integrated manner with the government. And now it is a high time to provide impetus to domestic manufacturers to usher a new era forthe country’s healthcare and pharma sector and to make India: Self Reliant. However the key points discussed were considerations regarding affordability and availability of API’s and other raw materials.
