Panjab University Dean Student office along with Wardens of Girls Hostel (3,10 & International) and Boys Hostel (2 &3) organized a Webinar entitled “MOOCS: NECESSITY DURING COVID-19 SCENARIO”. The main motive of this webinar was to have interaction of the students with DSWs, present the hostel’s current scenario and bring the hostel students at one platform. Another objective was to formally introduce them to the available MOOCs Platforms that can assist in the reading and learning process.
The event started with introduction to the New DSWs Prof S.K. Tomar (DSW) and Prof Sukhbir Kaur (DSW women). Prof Sukhbir addressed the students and gave them some tips how to boost your immune system by Ayurvedic and homeopathic means and told them the importance of being fit. Prof. Tomar addressed the students and asked them not to panic and gave them the assurance that the students will be updated about the university situations and decisions from time to time. He also asked the students to inculcate spirit of self-discipline during this difficult time. The introductory session was followed by lecture on MOOCs by Dr. Vishal Sharma, Swayam Coordinator of the Panjab University. He intorduced the faculty and students about online courses, their contents, structure and how it could be made part of our academic syllabi. The webinar was a great success and students were happy to interact with everyone.

A live Web-brain storming session on“SELF-RELIANT INDIA: PHARMA PERSPECTIVES” was organized under the aegis of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Punjab Branch and Panjab University Pharmaceutical Society (PUPS), University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University.
Professor V. R. Sinha, Dean Research, Panjab University inaugurated, welcomed and presided over the Webinar. .
The speakers were well renowned Pharma Professionals like Prof Shailendra Saraf, Vice President, Pharmacy Council of India; Mr Pardeep Kumar Mattu, State Drug Controller-cum-Joint Commissioner, FDA, Punjab; Dr Anil Pareek, President Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, IPCA Laboratories, Mumbai; Prof Swarnlata Saraf, Director & Professor in Pharmacy, University Institute of Pharmacy, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur and Dr Bhupinder K. Gupta (GAMS, ARSH), Ayurvedic Clinics, Panchkula, Haryana presented their valuable views, suggestions and spoke at length on the topic.
India even though being the largest producer of Pharmaceuticals in the world by volume heavily depends on China for about 70 percent of bulk drugs and raw materials for medicines. However the corona virus pandemic has largely impacted the supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) in the country. During these unprecedented times, the pharmaceutical industry has worked in a very integrated manner with the government. And now it is a high time to provide impetus to domestic manufacturers to usher a new era forthe country’s healthcare and pharma sector and to make India: Self Reliant. However the key points discussed were considerations regarding affordability and availability of API’s and other raw materials.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for online submission of application for re-evaluation of answer scripts pertaining to TEE December 2019 till 15th June, 2020 only for those courses/students whose results have been declared after20th February 2020. The Revised Notification for the extension of last date for online submission of application for re-evaluation of answer scripts pertaining to TEE December 2019 is available on IGNOU website. This Notification supersedes the earlier Notification issued on 26th May 2020 in this regard. A circular was issued for the cancellation of the earlier notification.
Dr. Anil Kumar Dimri, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Chandigarh informed that owing to the extension of lockdown on account of Corona Virus (COVID-19 many such learners who could not apply earlier can now apply for re-evaluation. The revised Notification is applicable only to those courses/students whose results have been declared after20th February 2020. चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन ने शहर के बिजली उपभोक्ताओं को 15 जून तक 25 फीसदी बिजली शुल्क माफ करने की घोषणा की है। यह घोषणा प्रशासक वीपी सिंह बदनोर ने शुक्रवार को डेली वार रूम की बैठक लिया। इसके अलावा प्रशासक ने सेक्टर 16 अस्पताल में कल तक 4,000 ओपीडी मामलों को निपटाया है। जिस पर उन्हे अन्य सभी चिकित्सा संस्थानों को धीरे-धीरे अपनी ओपीडी सेवाओं को बढ़ाने के निर्देश दिए, ताकि चिकित्सा सेवाओं में सामान्य स्थिति बहाल हो सके।
इसके अलावा प्रशासक ने नगर निगम आयुक्त जिला मजिस्ट्रेट, वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधीक्षक, निदेशक स्वास्थ्य सेवाएं, डब्लूएचओ प्रतिनिधि सहित प्रभावित क्षेत्र समिति द्वारा अनुशंसित सेक्टर 30-बी से प्रतिबंध ज़ोन प्रतिबंध हटाने का निर्देश जारी किया। हालांकि, उन्होंने निदेशक स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं को क्षेत्र में नियमित जांच और निगरानी जारी रखने का निर्देश दिया।
इस मौके पर प्रशासक के सलाहकार मनोज परिदा ने कहा कि जैसा कि भारत सरकार ने तय किया है, सभी शॉपिंग मॉल, धार्मिक स्थल, होटल और रेस्तरां 08 जून चंडीगढ़ में। पहले से ही स्वास्थ्य विभाग द्वारा परिचालित मानक संचालन प्रक्रिया (एसओपी) को सख्ती से लागू किया जाएगा।
जबकि डीसी मनदीप सिंह बराड़ ने बताया कि अब तक शहर के विभिन्न हिस्सों में 60,66,000 पके हुए भोजन के पैकेट बेसहारा और जरूरतमंद व्यक्तियों के बीच वितरित किए गए हैं। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि अब तक, 3,31,000 लोग यूटी, चंडीगढ़ में आरोग्य सेतु एप्लीकेशन डाउनलोड कर चुके हैं।

पंचकूला 5 जूून- माननीय न्यायमूर्ति श्री एन0वी0 रमना, न्यायाधीश, सर्वोच्च न्यायालय एवं कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष, राष्ट्रीय विधिक सेवा प्राधिकरण ने राज्य विधिक सेवा प्राधिकरणों के अध्यक्षों, उच्च न्यायालय कानूनी सेवा समितियों के अध्यक्षों, सभी राज्य विधिक सेवा प्राधिकरणों के सदस्य सचिवों एवं जिला विधिक सेवा प्राधिकरणों के अध्यक्षांे तथा सचिवों की उपस्थिति में एक वेबिनार के माध्यम से एक‘Handbook of Formats: Ensuring Effective Legal Services’ को जारी किया।
यह पुस्तिका Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI के सहयोग से तैयार की गयी है। यह पुस्तिका विभिन्न प्रारूपों को एकीकृत करने की दिशा मंे पहला महत्वपूर्ण कदम है। यह पुस्तिका मानव संसाधनों के प्रबन्धन के लिए एक प्रभावी उपकरण है और भविष्य में सभी को न्याय दिलवाने के लिए एक छोटा परन्तु महत्वपूर्ण कदम साबित होगा।
अपने प्रमुख संबोधन में, माननीय न्यायमूर्ति श्री एन0वी0 रमना जी ने कोविड-19 की महामारी के कारण देश के सामने आने वाले कई मुद्दों और चुनौतियों पर प्रकाश डाला। लाॅकडाउन के कारण, हजारों लोग अपनी जान और आजीविका खो चुके हैं, बड़े पैमाने पर पलायन भी हुआ है। उन्होंने इस प्रचलित महामारी के दौरान कानूनी विधिक सेवा प्राधिकरणांे द्वारा नवीनतम तकनीक को अपनाते हुए किए गए कार्यों/गतिविधियों की सराहना की।
माननीय न्यायमूर्ति श्री एन0वी0 रमना जी ने यह भी कहा कि लाॅकडाउन के दौरान, यह संज्ञान में आया है कि परिवार के भीतर ही हिंसा के मामले बढ़ रहे हैं। इस स्थिति में, हर जिले में महिला पैनल वकीलों की टेली-सेवाओं के माध्यम से, पीड़ितांे को कानूनी सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए लगातार प्रयास किए गए।
भारत के माननीय उच्चतम न्यायालय के दिनांक-23 मार्च 2020 के निर्देशांे के अनुपालन में, राज्य विधिक सेवा प्राधिकरणों ने पूर्ण सक्रियता के साथ भ्पही च्वूमतमक ब्वउउपजजममे को कैदियों की रिहाई के लिए आवश्यक औपचारिकताओं को समझने और उन्हंे पूरा करने के लिए सक्रिय रूप से सहायता की है। इस महामारी के दौरान कुल 58,797 विचाराधीन कैदियों को एवं 20,972 दोषियों को विधिक सेवा संस्थानों की सहायता से रिहा कर दिया गया है और रिमाण्ड स्टेज पर 9,558 व्यक्तियों को कानूनी प्रतिनिधित्व प्रदान किया गया है। 1,559 घरेलू हिंसा के मामलों में महिलाओं को, 16,391 अपराधियांे को, 1,882 मजदूरांे को एवं 310 किरायेदारों को कानूनी सलाह एवं सहायता प्रदान की गई है।
कानूनी सेवा प्राधिकरणों नें विभिन्न राज्यों में सैकड़ों वेबिनार आयोजित किए हैं तथा अधिकांश जरूरतमंद लोगों तक पहुॅचने के लिए सोशल मीडिया, सामुदायिक रेडियों स्टेशनों, स्थानीय केबिल टेलीविजन चैनलों और अन्य डिजिटल प्लेटफार्मों जैसे प्रभावी उपकरणों का भी उपयोग कर रहे हैं।
हरियाणा राज्य में दिनांक-24मार्च 2020 के बाद से कुल 5,752 विचाराधीन कैदी और 3,041 अपराधी रिहा किए गए हैं।

पंचकूला 5 जून ज़िला रैडक्रोस पंचकूला द्वारा पर्यावरण दिवस पर रेडक्रास सचिव सविता अग्रवाल व स्वयंसेवक जी एस पासवान ने पौधारोपण कर किया और लोगो को भी बरसात के मौसम में पोेधे पेड़ लगाने के लिए प्रेरित किया । ये सभी पौधे जी एस पासवान व राजेश दलाल द्वारा भेंट किए गए । रेडक्रॉस सचिव सविता अग्रवाल ने कहा कि हमे अपने पर्यावरण का पूरा ध्यान रखना चाहिए ताकि हम शुद्ध हवा में सांस ले सके । यदि पर्यावरण दूषित होगा तो लोग अनेक बीमारियों से ग्रस्त हो जाएंगे और भावी पीढी का जीवन भी अंधकारमय होगा। इसलिए वातावरण को स्वच्छ बनाए रखने के लिए हर व्यक्ति को एक पेड़ विशेषकर अपने जन्म दिवस पर अवश्य लगाना चाहिए। इसके अलावा। जीवन में याद को बनाए रखने के लिए शादी की साल गृह पर भी हमें पोधरोपन अवश्य करना चाहिए। इनसे धरती पर हरियाली होगी और बरसात भी ज्यादा होगी। इस अवसर पर रमेश चौधरी ज़िला प्रशिक्षण अधिकारी राजेश दलाल , नीलम कौशिक व चन्दरपाल स्वयंसेवक व अन्य स्टाफ भी उपस्थित था ।

Panjab University, Chandigarh received grant of Rs 7.5Crores as the first instalment towards Innovation hub under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shikhsa Abhiyan (RUSA) for establishing Hub for Entrepreneurship, Employability and Innovation against grant of Rs 50 Crores by the Ministry of Human Resource Development . The Grant consists of two components – Rs 15 crores, of which first 50% instalment is received by PU for Innovation Hub, whereas Rs 35 Crores exclusively for research,which is awaited.
Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University has been making efforts for this project by presenting the same in a new format after which PU was successfully awarded grant of Rs 50 Crores by the Ministry of Human Resource Development .PU VC informed that the grant from RUSA will impact on the growth as well as ranking of the university . This is also a blessing for the fund starved university where very little is available for research, infrastructure and innovation. Lately University also submitted additional project for Rs 20 Crores for infrastructure development for which final approval is awaited. The proposed Hub will give unique blend of skill development and startup as well as incubation possibilities to all budding students of the university from all sections not only from the university campus, but also from the all colleges situated in Chandigarh,he added.
Professor Rajeev K. Puri, University Coordinator for RUSAelaborated that this grant will be spent in creating new facility for State of Art Incubation center for which new building is proposed, for Skill development and for pre-incubation centers at various departments of the university as well for shaping soft skills of the students for various sections so that we can prepare the students for better jobs in the markets. The incubation center will also support start ups with soft support via loan or seed money so that their proposals, as well as new innovations can be transformed into industrial platform. He further elaborated that this incubation center as well as pre-incubation hubs will be very fruitful for the university as these will eventually not only help in jobs prospects, but at the same time will give budding entrepreneurships as well as startups all facilities under one roof that ranges from incubating the idea to its market selling aspects.
