7th “International Day of Yoga” will be celebrated in the district on June 21, 2021 – DC, Sh Vinay Pratap Singh

Panchkula, June 16- Deputy Commissioner, Sh Vinay Pratap Singh today said that on the occasion of 7th ‘International Day of Yoga’ on June 21, Yoga programmes would be organized at 50 different places in the district. He said that only 50 participants would participate at each place while strictly following the Covid-19 guidelines.
Sh Vinay Pratap Singh was presiding over a meeting with the officers of various departments to review the preparedness regarding the successful organization of 7th ‘International Day of Yoga’ here today.
He said that this year, ‘International Day of Yoga’ would be celebrated with the theme ‘Be with Yoga, Be at Home’. He said that the main programme would be organized at Parade Ground, Sector-5. In case of rain, the convention centre at Red Bishop, Sector-1 has been identified as an alternative site for organizing the event. Apart from the main event, Yoga programmes would be organized in colleges, schools, parks, round-abouts and other suitable places in the district. He said that the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) concerned would be the nodal officer for organizing the programme in rural areas.
The Deputy Commissioner directed that Covid-19 guidelines like wearing of masks and social distancing should be strictly ensured in this 45-minute programme. He also directed that adequate arrangements for drinking water, security and traffic management should be made at the place of programmes so that the yoga participants do not face any kind of inconvenience. Directions were also issued by him that in view of the rainy season, the concerned officers should identify alternative places both in urban and rural areas well in advance. For this, he asked them to physically visit the venues.
He said that prior to the main programme on June 21, 2021, yoga training and rehearsal programmes would be organized from June 18 to 20, 2021 at selected places for 50 persons each, in which instructors of Patanjali Yog Samiti and Yoga instructors and PTIs of Education Department would impart Yoga training to the participants.
Among those present in the meeting included Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Imran Raza, SDM Panchkula Richa Rathi, SDM Kalka Rakesh Sandhu, City Magistrate, Simarjit Kaur, CEO, Zilla Parishad Nishu Singhal, Civil Surgeon Jasjit Kaur and officers of concerned departments.
