attended by 35 Assistant Professors belonging to institutions in Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh.

Speaking to the participants, Professor Agnihotri said that new teachers should do well if they adopt teaching as a profession and not as a part time hobby.  As teachers, one should be completely immersed in the experience of teaching.   He expressed his surprise that very few of our teachers go into writing their own books, after doing
research in the indigenous traditions, processes and phenomenon.  The teachers should today reclaim their role of being an agenda-setter rather than a blind follows.

Professor S.K. Tomar, Director, UGC – Human Resource Development Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh welcomed the participants and placed before them the significance of faculty development programmes.
