Town Vending Committee meeting held

Chandigarh, November 01: – A meeting of Town Vending Committee was held in the chairmanship of Sh. K. K. Yadav, IAS,  which was attended by Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner, Sh. Dilbag Singh Town Planner (Chandigarh Administration), Sh. Vivek Trivedi, Social Development Officer, NULM, MCC,  Smt. Harjit Kaur, DSP (Traffic Police), Sh. V.N. Sharma, Smt. Kamlesh, Sh. Ram Pal, Smt. Geeta, Sh. Sita Ram and all the members of Town Vending Committee, Chandigarh.

During the meeting the members discussed and suggested following important aspects regarding the vending zones:

1.     TVC decided to remove unauthorized vendors from the markets.

2.     As per judgment w.r.t. CWP No. 19675 of 2019, sector 1 to 6 are declared non vending zone, therefore, all registered vendors are shifted to sector 7 Chandigarh.

3.     TVC decided to register all Non ESP vendors to submit their photograph, Photocopy of Adhar Card, Bank Passbook, from 4th November to 30th November, 2019 at Room no. 36,  MCC building, Sector 17, Chandigarh.

4.     The vendors who have been allotted sites are to make their deposit/clear payments until 30th November, 2019 otherwise their registration will be cancelled.

5.     TVC decided to conduct Draw for 2697 remaining sites under 3rd phase.

MCC to organize Kirtan Samagam to commemorate 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Chandigarh, November 1: – The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is going to organize Kirtan Samagam to commemorate 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji from on 9th and 10th November, 2019 infront of Gurdwara Sector 34 Chandigarh.

This was decided in a meeting of the implementation committee constituted for planning the activities of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Hardeep Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor and attended by other members of the committee namely Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh, Maj. Gen. M.S. Kandal, Smt. Ravinder Kaur Gujral, Sh. Jagtar Singh Jagga and other concerned officers of MCC.

The committee members discussed and decided that a light & sound show on the life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji will be organized.

MCC employees took pledge during the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’

Chandigarh, October 31:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh administered Unity, integrity & security of the Nation pledge alongwith all the officers and officials of MCC on “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” (National Unity Day) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at MCC office, here today.

All the employees pledged that they dedicate to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the Nation and also strive hard to spread this message among our fellow countrymen. We take this pledge in the spirit of unification of our country which was made possible by the vision and actions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. We also solemnly resolve to make our own contribution to ensure internal security of our country.

MCC F&CC meeting held

Chandigarh, October 29:- A meeting of Finance & Contract Committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Rajesh Kumar and attended by Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Bharat Kumar, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, Smt. Sheela Devi (Councillors), Sh. Tilak Raj, Sh. S.K. Jain, Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioners and other senior officers of MCC were present during the meeting.

The members of committee discussed various important agenda items in detail and accorded approval for the following:

·        The Committee decided that the MCC will run the construction & demolition waste processing plant itself.

·        The committee decided that NGOs and veterinary doctors duly recognized from Animal Welfare Board be considered in e-tender regarding animal birth control programme of stray dogs with the condition of sterilization of 200 dogs per month.

·        Rough cost estimate for boring and installation of tubewell in Rose Garden, Sector 16, Chandigarh under capital head “Landscaping” at an estimated cost of Rs. 24.92 lacs.

·        To run and operate cremation ground situated at industrial area phase-I, Chandigarh.

·        Reconstruction of phirni road with 80 mm thick paver blocks at village Behlana, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 29.14 lacs.

·        Rough cost estimate for providing and laying 80 mm/60 mm thick interlocking paver blocks in streets at Thakur Dwara at village Manimajra, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 30.86 lacs.

·        Rough Cost Estimate for providing and laying/strengthening of sewerage line near Rose Garden, Sector 16, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 lacs.

·        The committee also discussed various issued including strengthening of jogging tracks in all the city parks by repairing and filling sand wherever required. The members discussed that shredders be provided under the horticulture wing of MCC alongwith weedicide spray in backlanes and road berms etc. to remove the grass.

MCC employees took pledge during the vigilance awareness week

Chandigarh, October 29:- The employees of Municipal Corportion Chandigarh today took pledge during the Vigilance Awareness week which started from 28th October to 2rd November, 2019 in MCC office premises here today.

Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC administered oath to the all the MCC employees. Sh. Tilak Raj, Sh. S.K. Jain, Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioners and other senior officers were present during the oath ceremony.

As per the communiqué, the Corporation will observe vigilance awareness week from 28th October to 2rd November, 2019 with the theme “Integrity-a way of life” as per the instructions of Vigilance Commission, Govt. of India.

They pledged that they shall continuously strive to bring about integrity and transparency in all spheres of their activities. They also pledge that they shall work unstintingly for eradication of corruption in all spheres of life and remain vigilant & work towards the growth and reputation of their organisation. They shall do their duty conscientiously and act without fear or favour.

Similarly, all the employees of different wings of MCC outside head office, took pledge including sanitation staff, MCPH, Karuna Sadan, Sector 11 and Water works, sector 37 etc.

Chandigarh ranked 2nd in AMRUT projects

Chandigarh, October 25:- The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt. of India has ranked Chandigarh 2nd in the all states ranking for the works carried out under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation & Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

While sharing this achievement, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh said that Atal Mission for Rejuvenation & Urban Transformation was launched by GOI in the year 2015.  The mission focuses on thrust areas such as water supply, sewerage, storm water drainage & green parks. Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh was entrusted to carry out various works for creation / up-gradation of infrastructure under AMRUT.

          He said that in Chandigarh, 12 projects costing Rs. 54 .09 crores were approved.  100% funding for these projects was provided by MoUHA, GOI.   The works such as Laying of new water supply lines in uncovered areas of Deep Complex, Hallomajra, replacement of PVC water supply lines with  DI water supply pipes in Madrasi & Rehabilitation Colony Maloya, providing water supply lines in Rehabilitation Colony, Dadumajra, Shifting of water supply lines in Indira Colony, Manimajra, laying of additional sewerage system in Ram Darbar  Colony, Development of Green Belt in Sector 48 C&D, Providing rising main from Jandpur to Sector 39, establishment of water supply testing laboratory.

The Commissioner further said that through these projects, we are able to provide clean and safe drinking water, good sewerage networks to avoid contamination especially in Rehabilitation Colonies and increase number of children friendly green parks in the city.

          The Commissioner said that with all efforts, MCC has completed 9 out of 12 works and balance 3 works are likely to be completed by 31.12.2019. About 4000 new sewer and water supply connections have been released so far under AMRUT projects.  MC Chandigarh has achieved all the reforms required to be carried out under AMRUT every year since 2015 and has also been given cash incentive of Rs. 195.00 lacs for achieving the milestones with respect to reforms.

Chandigarh achieves ODF ++ status

Chandigarh, October 25:- The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Govt. of India (MoHUA) has granted the status of ODF++ to Chandigarh City.

While sharing this information, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh said here today that earlier, Chandigarh had achieved the ODF status on 2nd October 2016 and now the status has been upgraded to ODF++.

He said that there are about 305 Public Toilets in the various markets in Chandigarh, out of which 274 are public Toilets and 31 are Community Toilets. All the toilets fulfill the conditions laid for ODF. The MoHUA has issued the guidelines that if 25 % of toilets fulfill the additional conditions like availability of Sanitary Napkins Vending Machines, Proper Ventilation, Availability of water 24 hours, proper signage, toilet connected to sewerage system, entry separate for Gents and Ladies, availability of Attendant, Ramps for Handicap, maintaining  of record like roaster, stock register, proper lighting, Cleanliness of toilets, Availability of all toilets on Google Map etc city can be declared ODF++.

He further said that accordingly, Chandigarh fulfilled these conditions in about 90 toilets.  The third party inspection was carried by an independent agency from the GOI, in the month of September 2019. The party visited toilets randomly, barren area, water bodies, Sewage Treatment Plants, ISBT Sector 43, Rock garden Chandigarh. All the inspected toilets and area were found fulfilling the conditions laid for the tag of ODF++. On the report of third party inspection, the MoHUA has granted the tag of ODF++ to city beautiful Chandigarh, he added.

Administrator honours sanitation workers with “Swachhata Samaan”

Chandigarh, October 25:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh honoured the Sanitation workers during “Swachhata Samaan Samaroh” at Tagore Theater, here today in presence of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, Chairman, Sanitation Committee, Sh. S.K. Jain, Additional Commissioner and other councilors and senior officers of MCC.

He was addressing the sanitation workers and door to door waste collectors at Tagore Theater during “Swachhata Samaan Samaroh” organized by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh to commemorate Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti.

He said that when we discuss cleanliness the role and responsibility of Swachhata Sainiks comes very first and they get proud to the city always. He said that a growing demand of the modern parameters of Swachhata implies the need for an improved understanding of our resources, and the ability to manage that demand in an equitable and sustainable way.

He said that when we think of cleanliness, our brains have been programmed to think of large garbage dumps and heaps of scattered garbage, and not the small amount of garbage generated in our households. He said that cleanliness should start in our minds from the very beginning of waste generation at source level. He said that if we people manage garbage in segregated manner in our households, then there will be no problem of garbage dumps and heaps in any where.

He appreciated the initiative of MCC to start 100 percent segregation of household waste in 13 villages, recently transferred to the MCC and asked them to implement this in other parts of city at the earliest. He wishes all the participants Happy & prosperous Diwali and wishes of Mahrishi Valmiki Jayanti.

The Administrator, Mayor and Commissioner awarded CSI, SI, MPW and Safaikarmacharis with the “Swachhta Samaan” including Sh. Subash Singh (Work Munshi), Sh. Paramjit (Sewerman), Sh. Baljit (Sewerman), Sh. Vijay Pal (Head Sewerman), Sh. Shera Singh (Bolder), Sh. Mohinder Pathak (CSI), Sh. Parveen Kumar (MPW), Sh. Jatinder Kumar (Driver), Sh. Lal Chand (Safai Karamchari), Sh. Kala Ram (Safai Karamchari), Sh. Gopi (Safai Karamchari), Sh. Vijay (Safai Karamchari), Sh. Mangat Ram (Safai Karamchari), Sh. Parsh Ram (D.T.D. Collector), Sh. Dharamvir (D.T.D. Collector), Sh. Sunil Kumar (D.T.D. Collector), Sh. Ram Kumar (D.T.D. Collector), Sh. Rajvir (Helper of D.T. D. Collection Vehicle).

While addressing the gathering, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor of Chandigarh said that the neat and clean city, we see in every morning is the best efforts our safai sainiks and door to door waste collectors. He said that the MCC achieved various awards and honours in clean city tag with the best efforts of their sanitation workers and wishes to maintain cleanliness and beauty of the city forever.

Earlier, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries at the programme. He also briefed about the sanitation campaign, segregation at source and other awareness initiatives conducted by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, Chairman, Sanitation Committee, MCC also wished all the safaikarmacharis and door to door waste collectors happy diwali and Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti.

Adviser lays foundation stone of Animal Birth Control Centre at Raipur Kalan

Chandigarh Oct. 23:- Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, IAS , Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today laid the foundation stone of Animal Birth Control Centre at village Raipur Kalan, here in presence of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary Home, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Hardeep Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor, Sh. S.K. Jain, Additional Commissioner, Councilors & officers of MCC and prominent persons of the area.

While addressing the gathering, the Adviser said that animals can not speak for themselves, we are their voice and providing care centre for them is best service in the universe. He said that with the MCC is doing good not only for the citizens of Chandigarh but also looking after the care services for the animals too. He appreciated the work of MCC for provision of cattle pond in 15 acre land and building the dog care shelter in the 1.4 acre land. He assured the MCC for providing sufficient funds for completing and running of the project.

On the occasion, the Mayor said that the animal birth control centre will be established in 1.40 acre land out of 15 acres land of MCC at Raipur Kalan. Rest of the land used to provide cattle pond. He said that animal birth control centre will be comprised of 5 dog kennels to accommodate 300 dogs.

Earlier, the Commissioner welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries at the function. He said that Hospital, Laboratory, kitchen, parking area and dormitory to accommodate 10-12 workers will be provided in the centre. He said that the centre would be constructed within one year time period and will be made fully functional.

SMART CITY KICKS OFF E-GOVERNANCE PROJECT

 Chandigarh, October 23:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, who is also Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Smart City Limited, Chandigarh took a meeting of all the stake holders which includes MCC, Estate Office, U.T., Chandigarh, Chief Architect, U.T., Chandigarh, Chief Engineer, M.C., Chief Engineer-cum-Special Secretary, U.T., Chandigarh, Chief Engineer, Chandigarh Housing Board, Chandigarh, besides other officers of the Chandigarh Administration for implementation of E-governance project in the city. 

            It is pertinent to mention here that the agreement has been signed with M/s PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) on 16.10.2019 by Chandigarh Smart City Limited for implementation of E-governance services.  The project has been formed to minimize manual intervention, ensure transparency, 24×7 excess to online citizen services and public grievances by eliminating the need of visiting the Govt. offices.  The project aims at online delivery of the services for the citizens.  There will be total of 27 E-Governance services out of which major E-governance services includes Online Building Plan Approvals, Booking of Community / Banquet Hall, Online Grievance Management, E-Horticulture Services, Online Permissions & NOC, Online Water and Sewerage connections, Integration with Property tax and Integration with Birth and Death registration etc. etc.  Citizens will be able to access these services through Chandigarh Smart City Limited Web-portal and Mobile Applications.  Citizens can track the status of their applications anytime, anywhere.

            The Commissioner advised that single point of contact persons should be pointed by each department for enabling the data to the agency on priority and the same will be approved by the Head of Department concerned.  He further directed that a Steering Committee comprising of Additional Commissioners, Chief Architect, Officers from NIC and SPIC and Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh should be formed to monitor the progress as well as for approval of formulated plan by the agency M/s PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).  Regular meetings will be conducted in the office of Chandigarh Smart City Limited and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh to overview the project.  The completion time of the project is one year.  Next meeting has been scheduled for November 1st, 2019.
