Newly elected Mayor meets Governor

 Chandigarh, January 11:- Today on 11th January, Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma & Sh. Jagtar Singh Dhillon (Jagga) newly elected Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor & Deputy Mayor, Chandigarh made courtesy call to Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore, Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh.

The Administrator started his best wishes and congratulation to them followed by discussion on various issues regarding development of city.  The Mayor raised the issues regarding implementation of 4th Delhi Finance Commission’s recommendations and also regarding allocation of sufficient budgetary Grant-in-Aid to Municipal Corporation so that normal development works and other important infrastructure projects can be taken up by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh on priority and the issues in future may be taken up in a better way.

She also raised the issues concerning women safety and increasing of crime incidents in the city. She thanked the Administrator for allotting funds for the project to cover all dark spots in city and also apprised that the work will be completed by 31st of March, 2020.  Similarly, she apprised that provision of CCTV cameras and surveillance are being taken up under Smart City project.

She requested the Administrator to continue the monthly meetings of Co-ordination Committee at the level of Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh where issues pending with Chandigarh Administration due to inter departmental queries can be sorted out so that Municipal Corporation can undertake these projects in a better and speedy way.

                   The Administrator expressed that the committees constituted for development of 13 villages and headed by nominated councilors of MCC must start their function and development plan for each village. He said that projects and plan would be chalked out at the earliest so that facilities and infrastructure of these villages can be developed at par with sectors of the city.

He said that the cleanliness not only means sanitation drives but includes segregation of waste and proper management of Municipal Solid Waste that has to be the top most priority and the MCC should involve public at large in these projects to ensure their participation in maintaining the beauty of the city.

Village development panel for Raipur Khurd held meeting

Chandigarh, January 10:- First meeting for the development works in the village Raipur Khurd was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Ajay Dutta, nominated councillor, MCC which was attended by other members of committee. Sh. Kuldeep Singh, Executive Engineer, Electrical Division, MCC was also present during the meeting to discuss the problems to be taken up by the committee.

The Committee members listed various problems including Sewerage Blockage, provision of adequate water supply, broken and unmade roads, fixation of the only pulley on the way to cremation ground, re-functionality of the dispensary, maintenance of toilets, construction of bus stops, allotment and placement of new street lights, stray animals and provision of roads in the main market areas.

Senior officers of MCC to check monitoring of Night Shelters on daily basis

Chandigarh, January 10:- As per the directions of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, senior officers of MCC will check monitoring reports of Night Shelters on daily basis and submit report to the Commissioner.

As per details, there are 10 locations in Chandigarh where night shelters facility has been provided by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh including  in Sec 9D in front of CHB Off, 16A near hospital gate, Opposite PGI gate, 19B on V5, 20D near Mandir, 22C opposite JW Marriott, 32B near hospital gate, 34A opposite booth market, 43D in bus stand.

The following facilities have been provided in the shelters including Waterproof air tight shelters for comfortable accommodation, Room heater/ bloors to provide cozy temperature, Mattresses with quilt and pillow i/c clean bed sheet on raised plywood platform covered with mat and PVC sheet for easily cleaning, Potable water for drinking with disposable glasses, Separate arrangements for ladies and gents in Sec 16A, PGI,  32A, Mobile toilets near shelter opposite PGI, Sec 16A, 32A, Wall mounted cameras for proper supervision and security with access arrangements in MC officer mobiles, Security persons deputed for 24 hours for proper maintenance of shelter and watch & ward, First aid kit available in each shelter. Also person residing in shelter can call at 112 to get free medical facility, Complaint register and separate register to upkeep proper record on daily basis of person residing in shelter.

The MCC has provided complaint register to improve the facilities in shelters as per requirement of public on daily basis.

Kirron Kher inaugurates green belt at Maloya

Chandigarh, January 5:- Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh today inaugurated a green belt in Maloya colony in presence of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, other councilors and officers of MCC.

Decorated with different types of ornamental plants and colourfull shrubs, this green belt has all the provisions like walking tracks, children play equipments, open air gymnasium, huts and benches etc.

Having total area of 7.60 acre land, one portion of the green belt has been developed as Herbal Park with plants having medicinal value. The green belt has been developed at a cost of Rs. 80 lacs.

Foundation Stone for Development of Open Space

Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh laid foundation stone for the development of open space between Patiala ki Rao and Outer Phirni Road in Maloya in presence of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor. This area has been developed by providing walking track and ornamental trees on sides at an estimated cost of Rs. 34 lacs.

Paver blocks in internal streets of Gawala & Kumhar Colony

Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh today laid foundation stone to provide paver blocks in internal streets of Gawala & Kumhar Colony, village Maloya in presence of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor.

The Mayor informed that 80 mm thick paver blocks made from C&D waste material will be laid down in the 3.204 Kms streets of Gawala and Kumhar colony at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.94 crores.

Repair of Paver Blocks in internal streets of Maloya Colony

Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh today laid foundation stone of repairing internal streets of Maloya colony with 80mm thick paver blocks in 7.870 Kms long internal streets at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.65 lacs.

Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor informed that all the works will be completed within stipulated time frame i.e. by 6 months time period.

MCC started afternoon water supply in city

Chandigarh, January 5:- Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh today formally started the afternoon water supply from 12 pm to 2 pm daily to the city in presence of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor, Smt. Gurbax Rawat, area councilor, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, other councilors and officers of MCC.

While sharing this big facility to the citizens of Chandigarh, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor said that the MCC has promised to the citizens for increasing the water supply after completing and successfully augmented the additional water supply from 5th & 6th phase from Kajauli Water Works. He said that the MCC today started afternoon water supply from 12 pm to 2 pm daily to the citizens of Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, January 4: Mrs. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh today inaugurated the newly developed Green Belt, in Indra Colony, Manimajra, here today. Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor, Sh. Sanjay Jha, IAS, Special Commissioner, Sh. Vinod Aggarwal, area councilor, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, Sh. K.P. Singh, S.E. (Horticulture) other councilors and officers, local residents and prominent citizens from Chandigarh were present on the occasion.

Kirron Kher inaugurates Green Belt in Indra Colony, Manimajra

Mrs. Kirron Kher appreciated the work done by the Municipal Corporation and said that this beautiful green belt will be beneficial for all people including young, old and children. She said that it is equal responsibility of public regarding upkeep of the parks. She said that Chandigarh is a beautiful city, known by its greenery and cleanliness.

She said that people should take benefit of the different schemes, started by the Government of India and should participate in the good governance programmes of local bodies. She said that Municipal Corporation always creates awareness about the beneficiary schemes of Central Government and people should come forward to avail these facilities near their doorsteps.

While addressing the gathering Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor said that Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh is providing the facility of Green Belts in city beautiful regularly. He informed about the main features of the Green belt having total area 12 acre from which 6 acre has been developed and the remaining part of 6 acres will be developed in 2nd phase. He said that Pond provided specially for Chatt Puja celebrations, walking track, benches, huts, plantation of ornamental trees, grassing and boundary etc. have been provided in the Green belt at a cost of Rs. 1 Crore. He said that different flower beds have been developed in this park having Zinia, Ficaus, Aricia palm, Raat ki Rani and Chandni flowers etc.

MCC gears up for Swachh Survekshan 2020

Chandigrh, January 3: The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has taken a series of measures to help the city do well in the Swachh Survekshan 2020 starting from this week.

In this regard, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today called a meeting with the office bearers of Market Welfare Associations, Resident Welfare Associations and Chandigarh Hotel Association in MCC office.

The Commissioner said that ahead of the survey, the MCC appealed to all the associations in the city to involve themselves in the Swachh Survekshan 2020 and took part in this mega competition. He ensured that the concerned officers of MCC will look into the daily problems in their respective areas alongwith the office bearers or representatives of the associations for better results.

He said that the Swachh Survekshan is not just limited to cleanliness drives, but it has a number of components to deal with. They include garbage collections, source segregation, waste reduction and disposal, maintenance of toilets and many more. He said that every year the number of criteria to meet and the participation of Urban Local Bodies have been increasing. He said that the citizen involvement and their active participation is most important part to succeed in the Swachh Survekshan.

He said that for service level progress, contrary to one-time annual assessment in the earlier editions, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has asked the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to update Swachh Bharat Mission online MIS (Management Information System) portal on a monthly basis. The ULB data which was uploaded will be verified manually by officials interacting with public to make sure they are accurate.

He said that citizen feedback caters to 25% of total 6000 marks which includes twelve questions from public and also responses through Swachhata app. Direct Observation which carries 1500 marks has nine sub-components in it, where the team will observe whether residential/commercial areas are clean, are public and community toilets clean, whether all fruit/vegetable markets are clean and a few others. He said that door-to-door garbage collection, segregation, wet/dry waste composting yards, and a few others will play a crucial role in the results.

Administrator distributes blankets to homeless people in temporary night shelters; visits Plaza Sector 17

Chandigarh, January 1:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh today visited the temporary Night Shelters to take stock of facilities provided over there and health & hygiene. During the visit the Administrator also distributed blankets to the inmates living in these night shelters.

The Administrator visited four night shelters including night shelter near PGI, Sector 12, near Govt. Hospital, Sector 16, near local bus stand, Sector 17 and Sector 19, Chandigarh.

The Administrator applauded the efforts of MCC Commissioner Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS and his team to provide such kind of facility to the needy people by analysing with respect to human needs of homeless the city. He also appreciated the facilities provided to the inmates living in these night shelters.

During the visit Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC apprised the Administrator about the facilities provided by the MCC to homeless at night shelters vis-à-vis water proof tent, wooden flooring, synthetic carpet on wooden flooring, provision of lighting system, emergency light, water camphor with disposal glasses, quilt, mattresses, durie, pillow, bed sheet, blanket, First AID box, heater, CCTV Camera, torch, register for enrolment, Security Guard 24X7, two staff (Day and night), fire extinguisher etc.

In addition to that the Administrator also visited Plaza, Sector 17, Chandigarh and appreciated the cleanliness over there and making the plaza area live to the visitors as well as the citizens.

MCC to issue first 10 copies of Birth & Death Certificate free: F&CC

Chandigarh, December 31:- A meeting of Finance & Contract Committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Rajesh Kumar and attended by Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Bharat Kumar, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, Smt. Sheela Devi (Councillors), Sh. Sanjay Kumar Jha, IAS, Special Commissioner, Sh. Satish Kumar Jain and Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioners, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer and other senior officers of MCC were present during the meeting.

The members of committee discussed various important agenda items in detail and accorded approval for the following:

·        The Committee accorded approval to issue first 10 copies of Birth & Death certificates free of cost.

·        The committee also approved rough cost estimate for renovation and acoustical work by providing false ceiling wall paneling in Community Centre, Sector 44 at an estimated cost of Rs. 49.73 lacs.

·        Rough cost estimate for providing and fixing PCC tiles in internal blocks at Mauli Complex ward No. 24, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 34.75 lacs.
