Chandigarh,January 28:- A meeting of village development committee for the village Khudda Lahora was held in MCC under the chairmanship of Mr. Sachin Lohatiya and attended by other members for the discussion of requirements and amendments for the development of village Khudda Lahora in Chandigarh. One of the major requirements included a community centre for the public to organise public events and cultural get together. Need to increase the water pressure to be used by the residents, Opening up of a playing area for the kids, Recarpeting of the road along with the bus stop, Setting up of a hoarding highlighting the name of the village and Allowance of Sabzi Mandi once in a week were the major concerns of the members in the meeting. Apart from this, need for the repair for senior secondary school was also put up for consideration. Several other maintenance works for cleanliness, sewage and sanitation were also discussed.

Chandigarh,January 25:- Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh inaugurated a newly developed Green Belt at Sector 26 Chandigarh here today in presence of Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh, Sh. Dalip Sharma, area councilor, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, Sh. K.P. Singh, S.E. Horticulture, other councilors & officers of MCC and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, Smt. Kirron Kher appreciated the work done by the Municipal Corporation and said the beautiful green belt & park would be beneficial for all people, including young, old and children. She said it was the responsibility of the MC and the public to maintain the park.
The Mayor said that the green belt of Sector 26 has been developed on 2 acres of land with a walking track (footpath), chime trees, play equipment for children, benches, huts, toe wall railing, 2 high mast lights, ornamental trees and open air gym etc. at total expenditure around Rs. 40 lakh.

Chandigarh, January 24:- The Village Development committee meetings were held for the village Kishangarh under the chairpersonship of Smt. Kamla Sharma, councilor, village Khudda Ali Sher under the chairmanship of Sh. Charanjiv Singh and village Khudda Jassu under chairmanship of Sh. Sachin Lohatiya. All the meetings were attended by concerned members of the villages and Sh. Jagrar Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor, MCC as special invitee.
During the meeting of village Kishangarh various issues were discussed including upgradation of infrastructure facilities i.e. sewerage, storm water, water supply, electrical and carpeting of roads and streets etc. are required to made for development of village. The issue regarding provision of regular water/electrical connection, street roads of village be carpeted, removal of malba from open points, cleaning of sewer through super suction machine etc.
In the meeting of village Khudda Ali Sher, the committee members discussed that provision of civil dispensary in the village, wastage of drinking water be tapped, overhead electrical wires be replaced, repair of street lights and repair of roads. The committee members will visit the village on 28th January.
During the meeting of village Khudda Jassu the committee members discussed that storm water line be laid in the village and repair of village Dharmshala, to stop the open defecation provision of community toilets and sewer line be changed in the village.

Chandigarh,January 22:- A meeting of Town Vending Committee, Chandigarh was held in MCC today under the chairmanship of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. Other members of TVC including Sh. V.N. Sharma, Mrs. Sangita Vardhan, Sh. Sita Ram, Sh. Ram Pal, representatives from traffic police, SSP, SDM’s and other officials of MCC were present during the meeting.
During the meeting, it was decided that the defaulters who had not paid their dues as of 31st January shall be given final chance to pay all their dues till 29th of February, 2020.
The other points discussed during the meeting were including:
1. Umbrellas and coverings which are foldable, temporary/removable are allowed to be used by the vendors after approval from MCC to provide uniformity according to their trades.
2. The Committee also accorded approval for providing 10 new mobile washrooms for the sector 15 vending site.
3. The Committee also considered the following vendors including Tandoor vendors, Parantha makers and Chhole Bhature makers in the ESP category.
4. The Committee decided to explore possibilities to rehabilitate vendors in the Mauli Jagran Thada Market site.
5. The committee will visit to see the proper rehabilitation of pottery makers in Manimajra.
6. For sincere vendors that have been rehabilitated too far from their areas, TVC has decided they may be allowed to pay the vending fee of December, January and February in installments within a period of 6 months from March till August.
7. The motor mechanics will be considered as ‘vendors’ but before the next survey, changes might be made and they might be considered a separate category.
8. TVC also stressed about controlling the unregistered vendors and appeal the Traffic and Law & Order departments to coordinate along with the MCC since, it is a collective responsibility.

Due to this repair work during the period from 22nd January to 10th February, 2020, the dividing road of Sector 38-A/Shahpur Colony, Chandigarh will remain closed and general public is requested to take alternate route and bear with Municipal Corporation.
Chandigarh, January 20:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today declared every Friday as ‘single use plastic free day’ in city Schools.
This was declared in a programme named ‘Climategiri’ organized by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in association by city schools. During the programme Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary, Home, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor & area councilor, Sh. Jagtar Singh, Deputy Mayor, councilors and officers of MCC, office bearers of Chandigarh Business Council and other prominent persons of the city.
While addressing the gathering, the Governor said that this step has been taken to encourage the public to avoid the usage of single use plastic not only on Fridays but on all days of the week and to motivate the youth to stop their family members from using single use plastic. The main aim of this step is to completely eliminate the problem of plastic from Chandigarh.
He said that this new step of declaring Fridays as single-use plastic free days will prove to be both a platform for general awareness of the citizens as well as help in changing our behavior and push us towards a healthy lifestyle.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of Municipal Corporation for conducting good awareness programmes besides engaging general public to save the environment. He said that these type of platforms will be provided to the citizens and schools towards elimination of plastic.
The Adviser said that engagement of school students in avoiding single use plastic items is a good initiative and youth can do a lot in behavior change of society. He appreciated the efforts of schools for collecting plastic items through the students and handing over to the MCC for its scientific recycling. He said that this process should be regular affair and Corporation to take necessary action in this regard.
Smt. Raj Bala Malik said that the MCC in association with Education department is organizing competitions like poster making, drawings, slogan writing etc. at school as well as inter- school levels to further highlight the importance of elimination of single use plastic and other topics related to the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ amongst the students.
Earlier, the Commissioner welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries during the programme. he said that a large number of government and private schools have come forth in support of the MCC as more than 140 schools have joined this mega event against the elimination of single use plastic in the city.
