Mayor, Commissioner visits Dhanas village

Chandigarh, February 27:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor and Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh today visited village Dhanas to see the basic amenities in the area and check the ongoing developmental projects in the village. They were accompanied by Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor, Smt. Sheela Devi, area councilor, Ms. Shipra Bansal, Haji Mohd. Khushird Ali, councilors, Sh. Sanjay Arora, SE (B&R), concerned officers and councillors of MCC and local residents.

During the visit, the team visited various streets, phirni road, markets and residential areas of the village. The main problems discussed throughout the visit were including the strengthening of sewerage system, broken street roads, Electricity supply etc.

It has also been decided during the visit that civil Dispensary & e-Sampark Centre are to be shifted to new locations as requested by the area residents.

The commissioner asked the engineers of Public Health wing to check the contour for water drainage in the village and to prepare estimates for installation of new sewerage & storm pipe line in the village. He instructed the concerned engineers of Electricity wing that regular meetings with the representatives of the village will be held to identify the dark spots and other minor problems be repaired on immediate basis.

He instructed the engineers that the carpeting of roads will be done in phases after the utility services work is completed by Public Health wing. He instructed that additional modifications in the landscape of the pond area shall be done after providing the utility services by the concerned authorities.

The Commissioner instructed that the issue of loose electricity wires and junction boxes in the polls be taken up with the electricity department for its early disposal and feasibility of laying proper electricity cables be checked and got done through electricity department.

Kirron Kher to open 48th Rose Festival on 28th February

Chandigarh, February 27:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh said here today that the Rose Festival will be inaugurated by Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh on 28th February at 11.00 a.m. and various competitions will be organized throughout all three days including Flower Competition, flower hat competition, Rose Quiz, Rose Prince & Princess, Rose King and Queen, Kite flying, on the spot painting etc.

The Commissioner said that this year the Corporation has decided to dedicate the festival to Women Empowerment and Plastic Free City theme. He said that a Kiosk of Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. has also been set up in the Rose Garden this year.

He said that to make the festival live new activities have been added by creating foodpark at Sector 17 just along the underpass from Rose Garden to cater the visitors and various exhibition stalls have been planed in Sector 17 to make the area more live. He said that this time some of the competitions have been shifted to the Sector 17 area adjoining the underpass from Rose Garden including Rose Prince & Princess competition, On the Spot Competition and Musical Evenings etc.

He said that a replica of Open Hand has also been provided in the Rose Garden and in addition to that a “Selfie upload on Facebook” at Fb page Ease of Living in Chandigarh and Handle- @EolChandigarh contest will be held under Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. with attractive prizes during the event at the CSCL Kiosk.

The Commissioner said that for the ease of public this time the ticket of Helicopter Ride has been made online at https:www.shoulto.com/events/helicopter-ride-festival-chandigarh.

MCC conducts Live Band Show at Sukhna Lake about Ease of Living survey

Chandigarh, February 27:- The IEC team of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has organized an event today to create awareness amongst the citizens regarding the Ease of Living survey at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh.

During the event, a live band show was presented by famous artists and citizens were made aware about the Ease of Living survey. They were encouraged to fill the survey on the link- eol2019.org/citizenfeedback and give their important feedback about the Ease of Living in the city beautiful.

The survey, which is made up of 24 basic but important questions would prove helpful in understanding the perception of the citizens in regard to the Ease of Living in Chandigarh. These questions cover topics like- Women safety, Electricity supply, Transportation, Water supply, Cost of Living etc. and would help determine whether the citizens are satisfied with the services and facilities provided by the Smart city Chandigarh or not.

The survey is a great opportunity for Chandigarh to build a good image on the national level and rise up in the Ease of Living Index.

Chandigarh, February 26:- The IEC team of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has organized an event today to create awareness amongst the citizens regarding the Ease of Living survey at Plaza, Sector 17, Chandigarh.

During the show a live band show was presented by famous artists and citizens were made aware about the Ease of Living survey made up of 24 questions on important topics like- Women safety, Water supply, Electricity supply, Transportation etc. The citizens were also encouraged to fill the survey on the link- eol2019.org/citizenfeedback and give their important feedback about the Ease of Living in the city beautiful.

IEC team of MCC creates awareness about EOL survey at MCM DAV College

Chandigarh, February 24:- The IEC team of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has organized an event today to create awareness amongst the students regarding the Ease of Living survey at MCM DAV college, Sector 36-A, Chandigarh.

During the show a live magic performance was presented by famous magician Pardeep and students were encouraged to fill the Ease of Living survey made up of 24 questions, on the link- eol2019.org/citizenfeedback and give their important feedback about how easy it is to live in the city beautiful.

The feedback consists of questions about women safety, water supply, electricity supply, transportation etc. and would prove helpful in determining whether the students are satisfied with the services and facilities provided by the Smart city Chandigarh or not.

The survey is also a great opportunity for Chandigarh to rise up in the Ease of Living Index and build a good image on the national level.

Mayor calls ‘Shehri Sahbhagita Manch’ meeting

Chandigarh, February 18:- Mrs. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh today called a meeting of Shehri Sahbhagita Manch at 11 am in the conference hall of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, which was attended by representatives of Banks, Social Welfare Department and city level federations of Chandigarh.

The Mayor informed the efforts of DAY-NULM to facilitate and uplift the urban poor community, which will help boost the momentum already gained through another set of high impact initiatives like promoting urban poor women by releasing revolving fund, launching of skill programs, tool kit and certification distribution to urban poor youths, release of book of homeless survey and release of book as envisaged under the pilot project in respect of Capacity Building, displaying of SHG products in Rose festival and Training programmes under support to Urban Street Vendors and other mega events for the members of self help groups.

Various activities were planned during the meeting for the Shehri Samridhi Utsav, 2020 which is proposed to be celebrated on the recommendations of the Minsitry of Housing and Urban Affairs from 28th March, 2020 to 12th April, 2020 to establish a platform so as to give leverage to the community based organizations formed under DAY-NULM. It was also decided that various line departments like State Legal Services Authority; Social Welfare Department; State AIDS Control Society; Tuberculosis department, Swachh Bharat Mission, Skill Training Providers will give their support in making the programme successful vis-à-vis rallies, skits/nataks, campaigns etc.

The meeting was attended by Sh. Anil Yadav, Lead District Manager, Punjab National Bank, Chandigarh; Sh. Vivek Trivedi, Social Dev. Officer, DAY-NULM; Computer Programmer, MCC; a representative from Social Welfare Department; 13 members of City Level Federation and all the staff/officials of DAY-NULM and Vendor Cell.

Village Development committee meeting held for Daria

Chandigarh, February 14:- A meeting of village development committee for the village Daria was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Jagtar Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor and attended by Sh. Hardeep Singh, Sh. Anil Dubey as special invitee along with the members of village committee and concerned officers of MCC.

During the meeting, the committee members addressed problems raised including recarpeting the phirni road, damaged roads, Storm water drainage system, repair the street lights, change the water supply & sewerage lines, provision of Community Centre in the village, construction of new toilets near market.

Chandigarh, February 13:- The IEC team of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today created awareness among masses about Ease of Living Survey at International Bus Terminal, Sector 43, Chandigarh.

During the awareness drive various activities were organized including magic show, citizen engagement games. The publicity material for Citizen Speak (Citizen Feedback) was also displayed during the awareness drive.

Mayor visits Kishangarh village

Chandigarh, February 13:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh today visited village Kishangarh to see the basic amenities in the area. She was accompanied by the Chairperson of village development committee Smt. Kamla Sharma, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor, Sh. Jagtar Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor, Sh. S.K. Jain, Additional Commissioner, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, other members of village development committee and local residents.

During the visit, the team visited various streets, phirni road, markets and residential areas of the village. The main problems discussed throughout the visit were including the sewerage system, broken roads, Lack of sanitation, Tube wells, Electricity supply etc.

The committee also pointed out that there is requirement of strengthening of storm water supply pipe lines and the water supply pipe lines to the households also needs to be strengthened.

The committee decided that these problems need to be tackled and solved one by one, starting from the sewerage and drainage problems. After that, the focus would be shifted to the repairing of the roads and then the expanding of the storm water pipes. The citizens of Kishangarh also made requests to the committee for pruning of the trees and removal of abandoned cars by encroachment which would be catered to right away.

The Mayor instructed the concerned officers of engineering wing to prepare budget estimates at the earliest and put up for its disposal from the village development funds. She also directed the sanitation wing to keep proper cleanliness in the area.

Mayor Inaugurates Day Market in Charan Singh Colony, Mauli Jagran

Chandigarh, February 11:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh inaugurated the Day Market at Charan Singh Colony, Mauli Jagran in the presence of Sh. Arun Sood, president, BJP, Chandigarh and councillor, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Sr. Deputy Mayor, Sh. Jagtar Singh, Deputy Mayor, Sh. Anil Dubey, area councilor, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, Sh. Sanjay Arora, SE, B&R, Councillors, officers of MCC and prominent persons of the area.While addressing the gathering, the Mayor said that there was a long pending demand of local residents of Mauli Jagran to provide these day market. She said that it is the prime responsibility of the vendors to maintain and keep the area clean.The Mayor said the the MCC has provided total 136 vending sites having size    6’-0”x 6’-0” in the day market,  spread in the plot area of 2056 Sq. meters or 0.50 acre (approximately) alongwith 662 Sq. meters parking area. She said that this day market has been provided to facilitate the residents of the local area. She said that the total expenditure used to build the day market is approximately 75 Lacs.While addressing the gathering, Sh. Anil Dubey said that provision of lights and fans will be made in the market besides providing Toilet block and drinking water facility. He said that the sites will be allotted to the registered vendors of local area as per norms.
