Chandigarh, March 17:- A meeting of Electricity Committee of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Davesh Moudgil and attended by other members of the committee namely Sh. Arun Sood, Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, Sh. Dalip Sharma, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu, Sh. Charanjiv Singh and concerned officials of MCC.
During the meeting the chairman welcomes all the members and officials of MCC in the very first meeting of the committee conducted this year.
Various important issues regarding upgradation of street lights and strengthening of park lights were discussed in the meeting including Dark spots, Sensory lights, Maintainence of installed lights, replacing of non- working lights etc. Increasing the number of staff for night watch, purchasing of boom ladder vehicles and Reducing the consumption of Electricity was also thoroughly discussed and the idea of a ground visit was also proposed by the Chairman.
Chandigarh, March 17:- The State Urban Poverty Alleviation Cell, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana –National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh in association with ‘Association of Professional Social Workers and Development Practitioners (APSWDP) has commemorated World Social Work Day today in the Conference Hall, 6th Hall, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh under the aegis of Shehri Samridhi Utsav, 2020 Promoting The Importance Of Human Relationships.
Sh. K.K. Yadav, I.A.S., Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh inaugurated the two-phases capacity building and training program on Community Driven Development and Sustainable Development Goals & launched the World Social Work Day.
The Commissioner in his inaugural address said that this day is celebrated as Social Work Day and in routine life everybody is doing social work in one or the other way. He suggested all the members of Area Level Federations to first analyze their competencies as an individual and then form Self Help Groups based on the competencies of team. He set out one of the best example of Ujjain Mandir to the members of Area Level Federation participated in the programme.
Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, Guest of Honor in his address suggested improving the quality and activities undertaken by the self help groups with the efforts of DAY-NULM. He also suggested that DAY-NULM should provide platform to the Self Help Groups for marketing their products in the events organized by MCC and other departments to sell their products. He also appreciated the way SHGs has displayed their products in the Rose Festival, 2020.
During the day, 17 Presidents of Area Level Federations in Chandigarh under the City Level Federation desk, DAY-NULM, Chandigarh has been conferred Social Work Award in the category of community development and women empowerment. Representatives of Social Welfare Department; State AIDS Control Society; FLCC Chandigarh (PNB and P&S Bank); State Legal Services Authority; Youth Representing Civil Societies from Civil Societies in Chandigarh were also felicitated in the programme.
Session on Community Driven Development and SDGs; importance of 1000 Days in Poshan Abhiyaan; Community Organization and Women Development; Role of State Legal Services and Legal Aid for Women; Awareness on HIV/AIDS and Swachh Bharat Mission were taken by the experts nominated by their respective departments.
Social Development Officer (DAY-NULM), Sh. Vivek Trivedi said that this capacity building programme will go in phases of training of trainers, resource mapping etc. In future for strengthening the capacity of community based organizations working under DAY-NULM.

Chandigarh, March 17:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor today launched Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) for plastic recycling at International Bus Terminal, Sector 43, here today in presence of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Debendra Dalai, Chief Conservator of Forest, Chandigarh, Smt. Chanderawati Shukla, area councilor, Dr. Amrit Warring, MOH and other officials of MCC and CTU.
While explaining about the technology, Dr. Warring said that the main goal under which the machine has been installed is- to have a complete recycling eco-system for Chandigarh. He said that the machine is having the capacity to recycle 2,000- 2,500 bottles per day.
With the usage of this machine, people will get lucrative discounts from prominent eateries and clothing houses in the city. These type of machines have been installed at Sukhna Lake and Plaza area sector 17, Chandigarh.
He said that the MCC and CPCB has planned to install more machines at sector 17 Bus stand, Rock Garden and other prominent places at earliest.
He said that the installation has been sponsored by Reliance Industries and Indorama Ventures and has the support of Chandigarh Pollution Control Board as well as Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
Chandigarh, March 9:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh today started work for re-carpeting of V-5 road in sector 42 infront of Govt. College of Girls having total length of 1.5 Kilometer.
She was accompanied by area councilor Sh. Hardeep Singh Butrela, Sh. Ajay Garg, Executive Engineer (B&R) and other concerned officers of MCC. She said that this road is being re-carpeted after 5 years. The condition of this road was very poor and now this road will be re-carpeted with a layer of 30mm thick bituminous concrete at an approximate amount of Rs. 12 lacs, she added. She instructed the concerned engineers and contractor to complete this work within one week positively.

Chandigarh, March 7:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh announced to release special grant of Rs. 132 crores to the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh here today.
In a meeting held in the Punjab Raj Bhavan, here today the Governor expressed his concern over to complete the ongoing projects of Municipal Corporation and announced release of Rs. 75 crores (including Rs. 63 crores for road re carpeting), Rs. 19.60 crores for increasing of storage capacity of water tanks, Rs. 9.50 crores for removal of Dark spots, Rs. 14.95 crores for operation and maintenance of villages and Rs. 13.03 crores under village development fund.
The meeting was attended by Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Finance Secretary, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor, Sh. Jagtar Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor and other councilors of MCC.
While expressing her happiness over the release of grant, the Mayor extended thanks to the Governor of Punjab & Administrator, Chandigarh. She said that it was made possible through the best efforts of each councilor and team of officers of MCC. She also extended thanks to Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary for their best possible efforts for release of grant.
The Mayor and councilors raised demands for strengthening sewerage system in the villages, release of due revenue share of MCC as per the Act, provision of funds for construction of community centres, policy to convert V-6 roads into cement concrete roads, time bound recarpeting of roads falling under the jurisdiction of Chandigarh Administration, allotment of adjoining space to the MCC near Community Centre, Sector 29 for its expansion, enhancement of capacity of sewer lines in the villages recently transferred to the MCC, removal of eclipse trees inside the compounds of govt. schools etc.

Chandigarh, March 5: –The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is going to start re-carpeting of V-3 road in (sector 18-19, 18-21 towards sector 21 side), (Sector 19-20 towards sector 20 side, small Rotary sector 19 and small Rotary sector 22, Chandigarh) and Junction 10 (Sector 9-4 & 5-8), Chandigarh. Due to this re-carpeting work during the period from 6th March to 20th March 2020, the roads would be remain closed and general public is requested to take alternate route and bear with Municipal Corporation.
Chandigarh, March, 4:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh today started renovation work for re-carpeting of V-3 road in sector 9/4, 8/5 and roundabouts having total length of 2.4 Kilometer.
She was accompanied by area councilor Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu, Sh. Sanjay Arora, SE (B&R) and other concerned officers of MCC. She said that these roads were last re-carpeted in the year 2013 and after 7 years the re-carpeting work is taken in hand. The condition of these roads was very poor and now these roads will be re-carpeted with a layer of 40mm thick bituminous concrete at an approximate amount of Rs. 95 lacs, she added.

Chandigarh, March 1:- Cultural function, performances and competitions marked the conclusion of the three-day Chandigarh Rose Festival at Rose Garden, sector 16, Chandigarh with the Mayor of Chandigarh Smt. Raj Bala Malik and Municipal Commissioner Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS distributing prizes to the winners of all competitions held during three days.
The Mayor was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes to winners of various competitions, participants of cultural events, band parties as well as gardeners. Mayor lauded the efforts of all the team of officers to make the Rose festival success. Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor, Councilors and all senior officers were present during the prize distribution function.
On the third day a Live Band Show was organized and magic show was organized by famous magician Pardeep Kumar. Before prize distribution function Gatka performance was presented by Sardar Darshan Singh and his team from Manimajra, Chandigarh.
The third day was started with the classical musical performance by Swar Ragini Mestro Pt. Subhash Ghosh, who presented tribute to the Indian Soldier and enthralled audience in the Rose Garden with special presentation “Basant”.

Chandigarh, February 28:- The much awaited 48th Rose Festival started here at Rose Garden amid pump and show. The three days festival has been formally inaugurated by Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh in presence of Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Jagtar Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor, other councilors and officers of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Mrs. Kirron Kher appreciated the efforts done by all the MCC employees and officers to make this festival a grand success. She appreciated the MCC for dedicating this event to Women Empowerment and colour it Pink this time. She said that the campaign of MCC against the Plastic usage in city is also highly appreciable. She said that people from all walks of life can enjoy here with the provisions and competitions of all age groups would be organized such as Rose Prince & Princess, Mr. Rose & Ms. Rose and Rose King and Rose Queen for senior citizens.
The Chief Guest took round inside the garden alongwith all the dignitaries and witness Brass Band Pipe show, different flower arrangements, arrangements of plants and others. She also visited the stall of Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. where she released brochure of projects of CSCL. She also took selfie with the Open Hand replica, which has been installed infront CSCL stall.
While explaining about the programme Smt. Raj Bala Malik, the Mayor said that the festival has been dedicated to “Women Empowerment” and “Plastic Mukt City” and various competitions will be organized throughout all three days including Flower Competition, flower hat competition, Rose Quiz, Kite flying, on the spot painting etc.
Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Municipal Commissioner said that to make the festival live new activities have been added by creating food park at Sector 17 near underpass from Rose Garden to cater the visitors. Keeping in view the interests of general public and visitors, this time various competitions have been shifted to Plaza Sector 17, he added.
In the morning the helicopter rides have also been started by the Mayor and Commissioner from Parade Ground, Sector 17.
