Mayor launches issuance of clearance certificate facility on property tax

Chandigarh, November 18:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh today launched the facility of issuing clearance certificate in respect of residential property tax paid by the residents of Chandigarh without making any request.

Mayor launches e-Awas scheme for government houses of MC pool

Chandigarh, November 18:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh today launched eAwas scheme for government houses of MC pool at command and control centre, MCC office premises in presence of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Anil Garg, Additional Commissioner and other concerned officers of MCC.

While speaking on the occasion the Mayor said that the employees of Municipal Corporation can now submit their Online application for allotment/change/mutual exchange of MC Pool Houses through website www.eawas.mcchandigarh.gov.in/ of duly filled in and forwarded by the Head of Department/Head of Office. The applications received under this Rule on or before 20th day of a Calendar Month will be considered for allotment in the succeeding month. The applications received on 21st day to the last Month will be considered for allotment in the succeeding month. The applications received on 21st day to the last date of a calendar month will be entertained/considered for allotment after the succeeding month.

Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC said that the application form will be examined by the House Allotment Committee, MCC. In case of incomplete application form or the application form of ineligible applicants the case will be rejected straight way by the House Allotment Committee and the applicant will require to submit afresh Online application on the official website. After considering the eligible applications, the seniority lists shall be updated every month, on the website. The eligible applicant will be able check the status of his/her seniority list of type of house for which he/she has submitted the online application. Henceforth, the manual allotment will not be done and existing manual application pending in HAC, MCC is hereby quashed, he added.

                   Online update report of vacant Government houses fit for allotment/fit for occupation, belonging to MC Pool will be updated to enable the eligible applicants to ascertain the vacancy report of Government houses. The procedure for allotment is as under:-

1.    The allotment of vacant Government houses will be made through the “bidding system” every month.

2.    The eligible applicants existing in the current seniority list will submit maximum three options/bids for allotment of a Govt. house of the type applied for from 1st to 8th of every month.

3.    The allotment of Government houses shall be made to the senior most applicant keeping in view their bids as per seniority list. The applicants, who are not allotted Govt. houses after bidding, shall have the option to submit/exercise their bid from 1st to 8th of the succeeding month of the calendar year.

4.    No allotment will be made to the eligible applicants who have not participated in the “bid” for allotment of Government house and no written request for allotment of particular houses shall be entertained/ considered by the House Allotment Committee, Chandigarh, in future.

5.    The intimation with regard to the allotment of Government houses to the successful applicant by way of bidding system will be given through SMS.

6.     After getting the allotment order of the Government house, the applicant shall contact the Work Inspector, Occupation/Vacation of the area concerned for taking over the possession of the allotted house within 14 days from the date of issue of the allotment order.

The Mayor and Commissioner also declared result for the online applications received from all employees during the period of 1st to 8th November, 2020 and today on dated 18.11.2020 at 12.00 noon.

Environment & City beautification committee meeting held

Chandigarh, November 11:- A meeting of Environment & City beautification committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Hardeep Singh and attended by other members of committee namely Sh. Rajesh Gupta, Sh. Davesh Moudgil, Smt. Asha Jaswal and concerned officers of MCC.

The committee members discussed and decided following important issues related to landscaping and beautification of city:

1.     The committee decided that an agenda be brought up for recruiting gardeners and ward wise report of shortage of Malis be tabled in the next meeting.

2.     The members asked the concerned engineers to put up agenda regarding improving the MC nurseries in the city and verities of different flowering plants and shrubs be included in the nurseries.

3.     The committee asked the concerned officers to plant minimum five trees of state plant of Chandigarh “Plash” with name plate in each garden and green belt.

4.     The members asked that TT water outlets be maintained properly in the gardens and installed at proper distance to improve the watering system.

5.     The committee asked the officers for taking up the pruning of trees work on priority basis and lift the pruned horticulture waste immediate after pruning.

6.     The members asked the concerned officers to maintain the neighbourhood parks at sector 20 properly and required plantation be done on the priority bases.

Governor inaugurates MC’s Petrol station at industrial area Ph-2

Chandigarh, November 11:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today dedicated MC’s 2nd State of art petrol pump at industrial area Phase-2 virtually in presence of  Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh and Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary Home, UT Chandigarh at Punjab Raj Bhawan and Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Sh. Mayor & Commissioner flag off the display van for awareness about precautions to be taken against COVID-19

Chandigarh, November 9:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor and Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh today flagged off a mobile display van on COVID-19 appropriate behavior to launch the five day campaign from MCC office premises, Sector 17, here today.

The mobile display van, designed by Regional Outreach Bureau Chandigarh under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with Municipal Corporation Chandigarh scheduled to be take route throughout city for 5 days outdoor awareness campaign from November 9 to 13, 2020, which will cover different villages, colonies, residential areas and city markets etc.

The Mayor said that this campaign is a part of ‘Jan Andolan’ launched by the  Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi last month to encourage people’s participation in the fight against COVID-19 in view of the festival season and opening up of economic activities across the country.

The Commissioner elaborated that the objective of the campaign is to reiterate the key message of “wear a mask, wash hands and follow social distancing by practicing “Do Gajki Doori”. The focus of the campaign is to nudge people towards COVID appropriate behaviors now trending as “The New Normal”. The van has displayed the COVID appropriate behaviours and recorded messages of the PM alongwith Corona Anthem is also being played, he added.

MCC signed MoU with IOC as dealer for opening petrol pump at industrial area Ph-2

Chandigarh, October 28:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has signed MoU with the Indian Oil Corporation as dealer for opening retail outlet at Industrial area Phase-2, Chandigarh.

The Commissioner informed that the Chandigarh Administration has allotted Industrial area Phase-2, Chandigarh for opening and running the Petrol Pump to the MCC and after inviting expression of interest from Govt. Oil companies, Indian Oil Corporation was selected and entered into MoU with the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. The work of completion at site is going on war footing level and the petrol pump will be commissioned shortly, he added.

MCC launches week long vigilance awareness week

Chandigarh, October 27:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is observing the Vigilance Awareness Week, as per the guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), from October 27 to November 2, 2020.

Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today formally launched the week long awareness activities with integrity pledge taken by all the officials and employees of MCC here today as inaugural part of the week long awareness programme.

Governor inaugurates MC’s fuel outlet at Sector 51-A

Chandigarh, October 15:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today inaugurated new Indian Oil Retail outlets in Sector-51 under the operations of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh. The fuel outlet has been dedicated by the Governor to the people of Chandigarh through a Virtual event. Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh and Sh. He also advised Indian oil for expediting the CNG expansion in Chandigarh city. He said that the fuel station will further strengthen the bond between Indian Oil and Chandigarh Administration which started a long back.

While sharing information about the petrol pump, the Mayor Smt. Raj Bala Malik briefed that the new fuel outlet at Sector-51 has not only provided new employment opportunities to local people but will also act as new sources of revenue for Municipal Corporation. In future, CNG facility will be added in Sec-51 outlet, she added.

The Mayor offered thanks to Hon’ble Governor under whose able vision, today the new outlet could be dedicated to the masses of city. She said that this retail outlet is fully automated wherein customers shall receive e-receipts after the purchase of fuel.

The Municipal Commissioner Sh. K.K. Yadav said that the State of Art outlet is fully automated having ultra-modern facilities such as the new ‘Smart Ground Detector’ for better safety which has been introduced for the first time on all India basis. The petrol pump at sector 51-A, Vikas Marg, Chandigarh having area 12000 Sq.ft. will work 24×7 from today onwards. Provisions have also been made for providing green fuels like CNG, EV charging and battery swapping which shall be launched in due course of time. Indian Oil’s branded petrol Xtra Premium with super cleansers will also be available at the fuel outlet, he added.

He said that the Chandigarh Administration has allotted 2 sites for setting up of petrol pumps to the Municipal Corporation at industrial area Phase-II and at Sector 51-A. He said that the second fuel outlet at industrial area Phase-II will be commissioned shortly.

Adviser inaugurates soft launch of integrated command & control centre

Chandigarh, October 12:- Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator UT, Chandigarh today inaugurated the soft launch of Integrated command and control center (ICCC) for the city set up at Municipal Corporation building, Sector 17, Chandigarh in the presence of Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary Home, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Municipal Commissioner cum CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Limited.

Officers from Bharat Electronics Ltd. Mr. Shiva kumaran K.M., Director HR, Mrs. Ran Vegris – Executive Director (Finance) and Mrs. Prabha Goyal- General Manager- BEL, Punchkula and other senior officers of MCC were also present on the occasion.

While explaining about the functioning of ICCC, Sh. K.K. Yadav briefed that this centre shall monitor the smart field elements like CCTV Surveillance Cameras via a video wall, wherein more than 20 cameras have been installed for real time surveillance of Traffic Junctions and other important buildings of Chandigarh like Municipal Corporation building etc.

He said that the City Owned Optical Fiber has been laid for the real time connectivity between the on-field devices and command center for live monitoring of the system.  This system also includes advanced video analytics system and generates automatic event alerts for events like abandoned baggage, illegal parking, crowd detection etc.

He further said that the surveillance cameras with analytics has also been installed at the entry and exit of a parking lot which not only helps in effectively monitoring the operation of the parking lot but also provides vital inputs like color , make and model of the vehicle entering and exiting the parking area, which can be used to generate alarms for blacklisted vehicles and search vehicles based on the attributes. This surveillance system shall help in real time surveillance and shall generate alarms for specific incidents.

The Commissioner said that the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) wherein Traffic Enforcement Systems including Red light Violation detection, Over Speed Violation, Automatic Number Plate Recognition has been installed on two locations of the city. This shall help city in making roads safer and reduce traffic accidents. In addition to the aforementioned systems, Public Addressing System has also been installed to disseminate information to the citizen.

He said that in addition to these systems, Adaptive Traffic Control System with a Variable Message signage has also been installed on the traffic junction to adapt to the real time traffic condition of the junction and provide maximum green time to the vehicles.

Commissioner flags off cycle rally at new lake 42

Chandigarh, October 11:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh-cum-CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. today flagged off a bicycle rally organised at new lake, Sector 42, here.

The bicycle rally was organised by the Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. to promote bicycling in the city in a big way. The rally started off at sector 42 lake at 7.00 am and covered the interior of the whole sector with a route of 3.5 kms.

While briefing about the event, Sh. K.K. Yadav said that the objective of the rally was to make the participants aware about the benefits of bicycling and also about Cycle4Change challenge. He said that for Cycle4Change Challenge the city is gearing up for launch of a pilot project with 10 docking stations at various locations in the city with 100 bicycles. He said that the CSCL in association with various cycle lovers and RWAs will scale up such events to make more people to enjoy cycling in the city.

He said that the Best Photo & Video Challenge has also been launched for the citizens of Chandigarh to participate and showcase their creativeness. The last date for submission of entries is 31st Oct 2020. The details are available on social media platform such as CSCL website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter page. The residents are encouraged to participate and show their spirit.

In the rally, the participants were given certificates for showing their enthusiasm and promoting bicycling in their own way. Public Bike Sharing Bicycles were also on display at the rally venue, which were also used by the participants.

The India Cycles 4 Change Challenge is an initiative of the Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban affairs, Government of India, to inspire and support the cities to implement cycling- friendly initiatives in response to the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown.

There are various measures the cities can adopt to increase the cycling initiatives in their domain, like:

·         Creating extensive cycling networks through low-cost interventions like pop-up cycle lanes and traffic-calmed or non-motorizedzones.

·         Launching programmes such as community-led cycle rental schemes that increase the availability of cycles to citizens

·         Promoting the usage of cycling through public events and outreach.

In the long run, the Smart Cities Mission encourages cities to convert temporary interventions into permanent ones.

CHANDIGARH REGISTERS FOR THE CHALLENGE

Chandigarh is one of the 95 cities to have registered for this challenge. To ensure this transformation, Chandigarh is committed to working with its citizens as it develops and implements the proposals. Community engagement is a key component of the initiative, and Chandigarh seeks the support of its citizens in making this programme a success. The City Beautiful, Chandigarh envisions citizens to participate in its efforts to achieve zero-carbon mobility.

The process started with community engagement through forms and surveys to know the condition and attitude of people towards cycling in the city. The form asked questions regarding the challenges, what areas need to be improved for safer cycling etc.

Also, handlebar surveys are being done to know the pain-points in cycling from the cyclist’s perspective. A total of 5 routes have been identified in the city for the same, and people are being encouraged to cycle on these routes; identify the issues and communicate them through the survey forms.

On similar lines, events have been planned in the city with various cyclist groups, RWA’s and city officials to increase awareness about the city’s participation in the challenge; and to encourage people to fill in the forms and give their feedback.

Chandigarh aims to know the opinion of as many citizens as possible, so that the issues can be resolved efficiently to make Chandigarh the bicycling capital of India.
