Mayor unfurl the National Flag at MC Building

Chandigarh, January 26:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has organized a colorful function to commemorate the Republic Day in MCC building, Sector 17, here today. Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor of Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Mayor meets Adviser

Chandigarh, January 15:- Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh and Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today met with Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh and discussed various issues of revenue generation for Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

While sharing information after the meeting, the Mayor said that deliberated discussions were held during the meeting on various issues and assurance for following issues has been given by the Adviser:

·        Release of grant in aid amounting to Rs. 100 crores.

·        Rs. 30 crore special grant for development of 13 villages will be released upto March, 2021out of total 102 crore from which 90 crores will be released during next financial year in phased manner and Rs. 12 crore will be incurred by Engineering Dept. UT for development works in these villages.

·        Rs. 80 lacs have been assured for ward development fund for each councillor.

·        Completion of 7 community centres in city through Engineering Department, UT, before May, 2021.

·        Early completion of work regarding underground parkings in sector 8 and sector 17.

·        For revenue generation permission of exhibitions in Kala Gram ground have been assured through MCC.

·        Permission for provision of Banquet hall at Industrial area, Phase-I assured.

·        Enhancement of Unipolls from 24 to 75 to generate revenue for MCC.

·        2 additional Petrol Pump sites to generate revenue for MCC.

·        Principally agreed to share revenue of RLA to MCC.

MCC celebrates Lohri at Sector 22

Chandigarh, January 13:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has celebrated Lohri at Moonlit Park, Sector 22, here today. Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest and Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, was Guest of Honour during the colorful function.

The people danced to the beats of dhol and sung songs of Lohri after lighting ceremonial bonfire. The Mayor and Commissioner wished citizens a very happy Lohri.

MCC bags 1st prize in National Energy Conservation awards

Chandigarh, January 11:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has got the first prize in the National Energy conservation awards (Municipality sector) in a programme held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi today.

The award has been received by Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor and Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh through virtual presence. The award has been presented by Sh. R.K. Singh, Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy during the 30th National Energy Conservation Awards-2020 function.

After receiving the award, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor said that the MCC has done commendable efforts for earning this coveted National award. He said that the officers under the leadership of the Commissioner has put their best efforts in replacing entire street lights with energy efficient LED lights in the city.

          The Commissioner said that with aim to reduce its energy foot-print and cut down on electricity consumption costs, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh replaced all the 48524 street light points with energy efficient LED street lights in the city. He said that with the result the city saved approx. 13.02 Million Units of energy annually and reduced its power bills from 14 crore annually to Rs. 8 crore on account of street lights.

He said that these LED street lights are also eco friedly and 10543 metric tonne of carbon foot prints are reduced annually. The MCC also installed Roof Top Solar Plants on its buildings and water works and generating 8 Mega Watt from alternate source earning 2.35 crore yearly. CREST has also made a proposal to install floating solar panels on the raw water tanks which will have a proposed capacity of 12 Mega Units, he added.

चुनावी पार्टियां प्रचार के दौरान कोविड-19 नियमों का पालन करें-उपायुक्त

पंचकूला  23 दिसम्बर- जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी एवं उपायुक्त मुकेश कुमार आहूजा ने नगर निगम के चुनाव लड़ने वाली पार्टियों के उम्मीदवारों को प्रचार अभियान के दौरान कोविड-19 की हिदायतों का सख्ती से पालन सुनिश्चित करने के निर्देश दिए।


जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी लघु सचिवालय स्थित सभागार में चुनाव लड़ने वाले उम्मीदवारों की बैठक की अध्यक्षता कर रहे थे। उन्होंने कहा कि उम्मीदवार घर घर जाकर प्रचार करते समय अभियान में 5 से ज्यादा व्यक्तियों को शामिल न करें। इसके अलावा रोड़ शो के दौरान एक साथ 5 से अधिक वाहनों का काफिला नहीं होना चाहिए। यदि अधिक वाहन हो तो आधे घण्टे के समय के साथ 100 मीटर की दूरी पर दूसरे काफिले को चलाना चाहिए।


उन्होंने कहा कि कोविड-19 के दिशा निर्देशानुसार यदि मिटिंग किसी सभागार में है तो 100 से अधिक व्यक्ति नहीं होने चाहिए। इसके अलावा खुले मैदान में 200 से अधिक की भीड़ एकत्र न करें। उन्होंने कहा कि सभी व्यक्तियों को राउण्ड बनाकर सामाजिक दूरी का पालन करते हुए बैठाया जाए। प्रचार के दौरान बुजुर्गो, गर्भवती महिलाओ, 10 साल से कम आयु के बच्चों के अलावा किसी प्रकार की बीमारी से ग्रस्त व्यक्तियों को शामिल न करें।  


जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी ने कहा कि जनसभा व रैली आदि में प्रवेश व निकासी प्वांईट साफ दर्शाए जाए। इसके अलावा कोविड-19 की सुरक्षा के मध्येनजर मास्क, सेनीटाईजर, थर्मल स्कैनिंग आदि उपकरणों का अवश्य उपयोग किया जाए। कोविड नियमों की पालना न करने वालों के खिलाफ आपदा प्रबंधन अधिनियम 2005 की धारा 51 से 60 के अलावा आईपीसी की धारा 188 के तहत कानूनी कार्रवाई अमल में लाई जाएगी।


इस अवसर पर पुलिस आॅब्र्जवर राजेन्द्र सिंह, चुनाव व्यय आॅब्र्जवर संजीव राठी, सहायक सजंय खन्ना के अलावा चुनाव लड़ने वाले उम्मीदवारों सहित चुनाव से जुडे हुए अधिकारी मौजूद रहे।

MCC conducts training workshop for sewermen

Chandigarh, December 23:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today inaugurated a training workshop conducted for the sewer men on the modules dislodging operators 1 & 2 under Safai Mitra Surkasha Challenge.

The one day training workshop has been conducted at conference hall, MCC building, Sector 17, Chandigarh, which was attended by Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, Executive Engineers, SDEs and concerned Junior Engineers and sewer men of Public Health Division No.4, MCC.

During the workshop training has been given by M/s Safety Professional HSC Parkash consultancy, Panchkula including most important clauses of MS Act 2013, which was brought in the knowledge of the participants. The training regarding safety equipments, sewer cleaning machines to be used during mtc. Of sewerage lines in Chandigarh has been given to eliminate the entry of the human being into sewer and machine hole.

MCC organises loan disbursement camp for street vendors

Chandigarh, December 23:- The Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has today organized loan disbursement camp at office premises under PM Street Vendors Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme which was launched by the Hon’ ble Prime Minister for the effected street vendors during COVID-19 Pandemic.

During the camp, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has given sanction letters to the registered street vendors in presence of Sh. Sudhir Kumar, Circle Head, Punjab National Bank, Chandigarh.

On this occasion, the Commissioner said that the street vendors should come forward for applying PM SVANidhi Scheme and availing discount of Rs. 500/- per month in monthly street vendor’s fees for the loan period. These vendors were extended a loan amounting to Rs. 10,000/- @ 7% rate of interest subsidy for a period of one year.

Till date, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has sourced 2029 online applications from street vendorsby organizing various community camps with support from Enforcement Wing and DAY-NULM Cell, out of which 1139 applications have been sanctioned and 911 applications have been disbursed.

77registered street vendors have been sanctioned/disbursedon the spot loanby 04banks namely Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, Punjab & Sind Bank and Indian Bank.

Mayor inaugurates community centre at Indra Colony Manimajra

Chandigarh, December 20:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh inaugurated newly built community centre at Indra Colony, Manimajra here today in the presence of Sh. Vinod Aggarwal, area councilor, Sh. Sanjay Arora, Superintending Engineer (B&R) and other concerned officers of MCC and prominent persons of the area.

During the inauguration, the Mayor said that this community centre has been built up in total 8400 sqft having plot area of 18787 sqft including parking area of 3200 sqft. She said that in the ground floor bridal room, office, hall, kitchen, pantry, care taker room, gents and ladies toilets while gymnasium, bride room, library, three rooms, gents & ladies toilets have been provided in the first floor at total expenditure of Rs. 1.67 crore.

The Mayor also ingurated 100 feet road at Manimajra having liner length of 1690 feet, 100 feet right of way and 22 feet carriageway width provided at a cost of Rs. 1.40 crores.

In addition to that the Mayor inaugurated road provided with paver blocks at Darshani Bagh, Manimajra having 1120 feet liner length and 16 feet width at a cost of Rs. 10 lacs. She also inaugurated water supply pipe line provided at Darshani Bagh at a cost of Rs. 30 lacs.

House tax assessment committee meeting held

Chandigarh, December 18:-   A meeting of House Tax Assessment Committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Charanjiv Singh and attended by other member councilors namely Smt. Sunita Dhawan, Sh. Ajay Dutta, Sh. Sachin Lohatiya, Sh. Anil Garg, Additional Commissioner and other concerned officers of MCC.

During the meeting the members discussed various issues related to Property Tax and decided that Municipal Corporation will issue 90000 No due certificates/clearance certificates to city residents as well as commercial tax payers till 31st January, 2021.


The agenda item regarding reviewing of self assessment scheme under residential, commercial, industrial and institutional lands and buildings was discussed during the meeting and the members of committee decided not to increase rateable value or tax rate keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic and also because it has been increased last year.

Regarding waiving off the interest for the period from 22.11.2004 to 31.03.2006 in respect of temporary shed area in industrial area Phase-I & II, who have deposited tax under self assessment scheme by mentioning area of their proprieties less than the survey conducted by MCC, the committee members passed the agenda to waive off interest and penalty part only with condition to deposit the principal amount in the MCC and recommended it for consideration in the General House meeting.


The committee members discussed the agenda item regarding exemption of property tax in respect of charitable institutes and decided that charitable institutes will be considered for exemption which are registered under Charitable Endowment Act and are not doing any commercial activity and the institutional building has benefit of deduction under section 80 G of IT Act 1961.
