Ward Committee meeting held for ward No.13

Chandigarh, February 24:- A meeting of ward committee of ward No. 13 was held today under the chairpersonship of Smt. Heera Negi at community centre, sector 50, Chandigarh.

During the meeting unanimously elected Sh. V.K. Bali and Sh. Chirag Aggarwal as vice chairman of the ward committee for ward No.13. Other members of the ward committee was also present during the meeting including Sh. Akhil Goyal and Sh. Door to Door waste collectors starts signing MoU with MCC

Chandigarh, February 24:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has started signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the door to door waste collectors individually. This was started in the office of Mayor here today by Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh in presence of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC and concerned officers and representatives of door to door waste collector’s association.

The Mayor said that the same MoU will be signed by all the door to door waste collectors by this week. Sh. Sorabh Arora, Joint Commissioner, Dr. Amritpal Waring, Medical Officer of Health, Sh. Rajesh Kumar and Smt. Asha Jaswal, former Mayors, Smt. Sunita Dhawan, MC councilor were also present during the occasion.

Chandigarh shortlisted for stage II on Nation-wide Cycles4change challenge

Chandigarh, February 17:- Chandigarh has become one of the 25 cities in India shortlisted for the stage II of nation-wide Cycles4Change  Challenge, organised under the Smart Cities Mission of the Centre. About 107 cities participated in the challenge which aimed at making cities cycling friendly post-covid. Among the 107 cities 41 cities gave their proposal and strategy presentation for evaluation by the Minsitry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL) initiated strategic action plans based on three broad principals of social media engagement, community involvement and implementation of pilot intervention at Sukhna Lake and Sector 36 V4 road to promote cycling. Several activities have been taken up  in the city in the last 6 months such as free cycle repair workshop, online perception survey, pilot launch of Public Bicycle Sharing System, Cycle Rallies, Cycle themed photo and video competition, lighting of cycle tracks among other initiatives.

Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL) has as well initiated the Draft Bicyling Plan for the city to be taken up by Healthy Street Cell and to be finalized by the Apex Committee headed by the Municipal Commissioner, Chandigarh. Now, the city is further preparing for second round to give a presentation to the jury to get selected among 11 cities which will receive a scale up support of Rs 1 crore,”.

Notably, the CSCL has already constructed dedicated 200km-long cycle track in entire city and further will be constructing more such tracks to connect the periphery and the city industrial areas to boost last mile connectivity and NMT. Chandigarh is also gearing up for launch of its 1st phase of Public Bicyle Sharing System with 1250 bicycles at 155 docking stations spread across the city.

MCC to spend 25 lacs to upgrade Rose Garden out of Rose Festival budget

Chandigarh, February 11:- The Rose Festival Committee constituted to celebrate 49th Rose Festival and decide the upgradation of Rose Garden, has decided to spend 25 lacs to upgrade the Rose Garden including flower beds and landscaping etc.

In this regard, a meeting of sub committee to organize symbolic Rose Festival was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor and attended by other councilor & officer members namely Smt. Asha Kumari Jaswal, Sh. Shakti Prakash Devshali, Ms. Shipra Bansal, Sh. Tilak Raj, Additional Commissioner, Sh. K.P. Singh, Superintending Engineer (Horticulture & Electrical) and other concerned officers of MCC.

During the meeting the committee decided to organize symbolic Rose Festival from 26th to 28th February, 2021. The committee members discussed and decided that all front line worrier/Corona Heroes will be honoured on the closing day of the festival i.e. on 28th February, 2021. The committee decided to honour Resident Welfare Associations and Social organizations who worked in the field of social service during the COVID period.

The committee further decided that no cultural programme will be organized during the festival and only display of flowers will be allowed inside the garden.

Mayor calls meeting of door to door waste collectors

Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh today called a meeting of the representatives of door to door waste collectors sitting on strike and discussed the MoU prepared by the MCC with them in detail. He said that they were asked to discuss it with the stakeholders and tell the Corporation for further consideration.

Chandigarh, February 8:- Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh today formally started widening and carpeting work of Road near ‘Tu hi Tu’ temple at Ramdarbar, Chandigarh here today.

During the start of work area councilor Sh. Bharat Kumar and other prominent persons of area and concerned officers of MCC were also present. Approximately 2 Kms road length will be widened and carpeted at a cost of Rs. 1.40 crore within 3 months time period. During the occasion, the Mayor asked the concerned engineers to complete the road carpeting work within stipulated time period.

Mayor meets delegation of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal

Chandigarh, February 3:- A delegation of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal today met with Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh at his office.

The committee further decided to explore possibilities to organize simple cultural programme including Hasya Kavi Darbar and Folk etc. through sponsorship if any. The committee further decided that this year e-invitation cards will be sent through social media platforms only.

The committee also asked the concerned engineers of Horticulture wing for preparing an agenda item for upgradation of Rose Garden from the Rose Festival Budget and bring in the next meeting of the committee for finalization.

F&CC approves Rs. 1627 crores draft budget proposal for 2021-22

Chandigarh, January 29:- The Finance and Contract Committee of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh in its meeting held today approved the Budget Estimates of Rs. 443.00 crore under Capital Head and Rs. 1184.00 crore under the Revenue Head for the financial year 2021-22.

The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh and attended by Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner and members of the committee namely Sh. Anil Kumar Dubey, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Smt. Sunita Dhawan, Sh. Vinod Aggarwal, Sh. Satish Kainth and officers of MCC Sh. Tilak Raj, Sh. Satish Kumar Jain, & Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioners, Sh. Sorabh Arora, Joint Commissioner, Sh. Shalinder Singh, Chief Engineer and other senior officers of MCC.

The members of committee discussed other various important agenda items in detail and accorded approval for the following

·        Creation of a dog park within the Mango Park, Sector 42, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 49 lacs to facilitate the pet dogs of citizens.

·        Provision of ATM machines at both petrol pump sites of MCC at Industrial area Ph-II and Sector 51-A, Chandigarh through calling tenders/e-bids to generate revenue.

·        Setting up of pollution check centre at both the petrol pumps of MCC at Industrial area Ph-II and sector 51-A, Chandigarh through calling tenders/e-bids to generate revenue.

·        Providing and fixing 50mm thick PCC tiles in passage of EWS colony near house 6364 to 6573, sector 56, Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs. 44.54 lacs.

·        The members asked the concerned engineers to bring agenda item regarding converting community centre halls as sound proof throughout city wherever required.

·        The committee considered and approved the replacement of all cables from turntable to working cage & wiring for the outriggers of HPTTL stationed at Fire Station, Manimajra at an estimated cost of Rs. 9.22 lacs.

·        The F&CC accorded approval regarding renewal of annual maintenance contract for both HPTTL vehicles at an estimated cost of Rs. 13 lacs.

·        The members also accorded approval to the agenda item regarding amendment in terms and conditions of Night Food Street, Sector 14, Chandigarh.

·        The committee approved terms & conditions for e-auction of 37 sites for sale of coconut water and water melon.

·        Regarding an agenda item fixation of rent of commercial shops of 13 villages transferred to Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, the members were of the view that a sub committee may be constituted to conduct survey and final decision may be taken in this regard after their study report.

·        The members also accorded approval to dispose of the coconut shells through mechanically and signing an MoU thereof under Swachh Bharat Mission.

·        The committee members also discussed and decided that permissions may be given to the Brass & Pipe owners on reasonable license fee at their respective places.
