हरियाणा के बिजली मंत्री चौधरी रणजीत सिंह ने कहा कि वर्ष  1901 के  बाद इस वर्ष उत्तरी भारत के राज्यों में भीषण गर्मी पडऩे के कारण मई-माह में तापमान 48.3 डिग्री सैल्सियस तक पहुंचने के बावजूद हरियाणा ही एक ऐसा राज्य रहा जहां बिजली के कट नहीं लगे और उपलब्धता से अधिक बिजली की मांग को पूरा किया। यह सब सरकार के बेहतर बिजली प्रबंधन के चलते ही सम्भव हो सका। बिजली मंत्री ने यह जानकारी चंडीगढ़ में पत्रकारों से बातचीत करते हुए दी।


बिजली मंत्री ने कहा कि  प्रदेश में पहली मई से निर्बाध बिजली की आपूर्ति की जा रही है और पिछले पांच दिनों से रात्रि में कोई भी बिजली के कट नहीं लगे है। किसी प्रकार की तकनीकी खराबी को छोडकऱ यहां तक की गुरुग्राम व फरीदाबाद जैसे बड़े औद्योगिक शहरों में भी औद्योगिक क्षेत्रों को भी पूरी बिजली दी गई। उन्होंने कहा कि अदानी ग्रुप से 500 मेगावॉट अतिरिक्त बिजली मिलनी आरम्भ हो गई है और इससे 500 मेगावाट और बिजली शीघ्र मिलने लग जाएगी।


3024 मेगावाट अतिरिक्त बिजली के प्रबंध


बिजली मंत्री ने बताया कि अदानी ग्रुप से 1424 मेगावाट, छतीसगढ़ से 350 मेगावाट, मध्यप्रदेश से 150 मेगावाट, सिक्कम से हाइड्रो-पावर से 500 मेगावाट अतिरिक्त बिजली खरीद के प्रबंध किए गए हैं। खेदड़ प्लांट की 600 मेगावाट की एक इकाइ का रुटर खराब हो गया था जो चीन से मंगवा लिया गया है ,इसको बदलने में कुछ समय लगेगा, सम्भावना है कि इस माह के अंत तक इससे भी 600 मेगावाट अतिरिक्त बिजली मिलने लग जाएगी। इस प्रकार कुल, 3024 मेगावाट अतिरिक्त बिजली के प्रबंध किए गए हैं।


एक प्रश्न के उत्तर में बिजली मंत्री ने कहा कि 18 मई को प्रदेश में सभी संसाधनों से 7050 मेगावॉट बिजली उपलब्ध थी, जबकि बिजली की लगभग 9774 मेगावॉट प्रतिदिन की मांग को पूरा किया गया जो पिछले वर्ष की तुलना में 45.11 प्रतिशत की खपत अधिक थी।  उन्होंने कहा कि प्रदेश में पीक आवर की अवधि 15 जून से 20 जुलाई अर्थात एक महीने तक मानी जाती है। जुलाई में केरल, तमिलनाडु, आंध्र प्रदेश, उड़ीसा व पश्चिम बंगाल जैसे राज्यों में मानसून पहले ही आ जाता है। इसलिए उन राज्यों से उत्तरी भारत के राज्य बिजली लेते हैं क्योंकि वहां उन समय बिजली की अतिरिक्त मांग नहीं होती है।


एक अन्य प्रश्न के उत्तर में चौ0 रणजीत सिंह ने कहा कि अप्रैल माह में 12 रुपये प्रति यूनिट की दर से महंगी बिजली खरीदी अब बाजार में भी चार से 6 रुपये प्रति यूनिट बिजली उपलब्ध है। कृषि क्षेत्र को धान के मौसम के दौरान 8 घंटे बिजली आपूर्ति की गई क्योंकि उस समय पानी की अधिक जरूरत होती है अब कपास का सीजन है इसलिए पांच घंटे बिजली आपूर्ति की जा रही है। उन्होंने बताया कि यमुनानगर में 700 मेगावाट का एक नया प्लांट लगाने की प्रक्रिया अंतिम चरण में है। भाखड़ा से 22 मई से हाइड्रो-पावर भी मिलने लग जाएगी ।

सौर ऊर्जा नलकूप पर किसानों को केवल 25 प्रतिशत की राशि देनी होगी


बिजली मंत्री ने बताया कि प्रदेश में सौर-ऊर्जा को भी बढ़ावा दिया जा रहा है जो प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी का भी विजन है। केन्द्र सरकार ने हरियाणा को 15 मेगावाट सौर उत्पादन का लक्ष्य दिया गया था परन्तु हम 50 मेगावाट सौर ऊर्जा का उत्पादन कर रहे है। सरकारी भवनों, इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेजों व अन्य बड़े भवनों पर सौर-ऊर्जा संयंत्र लगाए जा रहे हैं।  सौर-ऊर्जा नलकूपों के लिए सब्सिडी के रूप में केन्द्र सरकार की ओर से 30 प्रतिशत तथा हरियाणा सरकार की ओर से 45 प्रतिशत राशि दी जाती है किसान को तो केवल 25 प्रतिशत राशि वहन करनी होती है।

Mayor launches Helmet Bank at MCC under road safety project of NGO Patiala Foundation

Chandigarh, May 19:- Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor, Chandigarh today launched Helmet Bank at the premises of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh under road safety project namely “SADAK” of NGO Patiala Foundation.

Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Sh. Dalip Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor, Sh. Anup Gupta, Deputy Mayor, Sh. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, chief functionary of the NGO and interns associated with the Foundation from different parts of the country were also present during the occasion.

The Patiala Foundation NGO has donated 100 helmets to the Municipal Corporation for the use of their employees. The two-wheeler users can get their helmets issued from the Helmet Bank and in case, they do not require it no more then they will have to return the helmet back to the Helmet Bank manager.

While addressing the employees of MCC and the interns from different colleges throughout country, Mrs. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor, Chandigarh said that the concept of ‘Helmet Bank’ with the aim of making the two wheeler user habitual to the use of helmet in daily routine in order to protect their precious lives from mishap. The earlier this habit is inculcated in the young riders, the better it is for the society, added the Mayor.

Speaking on the occasion the chief functionary of the Patiala Foundation, Mr Ravee Singh Ahluwalia highlighted various activities done under project Sadak till date, one of the initiatives of Bicycle Safety Campaign, launched in Chandigarh last week under which reflective stickers have been fixed on the bicycles to avoid any kind of mishap. He emphasised the increasing need of Road safety awareness and also shared that it is the 8th Helmet Bank, earlier these helmet banks have been established in various colleges, universities, organisations & associations in Patiala.

Citizens can register their pet dogs through i’mChandigarh app

Chandigarh, May 19:- In a move to promote the welfare of pet dog owners in Chandigarh, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has integrated the online registration facility through i’mChandigarh app for pet dog owners.


While sharing this information, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh said that to make the pet registration easier and to facilitate seamless registrations for pet owners, the MCC has got the integration in i’mChandigarh app.


Emphasizing the need for registering their pet dogs, the Commissioner appealed the citizens to vaccinate against rabies also. She said that keep the dog protected by getting it vaccinated against rabies from a Govt. or private vetenary practitioner duly registered with the veterinary council of India or State veterinary council and maintain the vaccination record duly attested by the vaccinating authorities.

She said that straying pet dogs will be impounded by the MCC. Token issued by the registration authority must be affixed with neck collar of the dog at all the times. Littering/defecation at public places is not allowed, the owner will be liable to get it cleaned. Besides this, breading and trading of dogs for commercial purposes within the area of MCC is strictly prohibited. Violators will be penalized as per the Pet Dog Bye-laws, 2010 and amendment thereof.

World Hypertension Day

To commemorate the World Hypertension Day (WHD) Mehr Chand Mahajan, Boys Hostel no.1, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a free blood pressure checking camp and awareness program on May 17, 2022. Health camp was inaugurated by Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Warden, Boys Hostel No. 1. Prof. Jagtar Singh, DSW(M) graced the occasion. Dr. Manoj Kumar, Ph.D (Public Health) was resource person on this occasion. Screening was done by a team from the Public Health Department, Panjab University which included Dr. Ashwani Kumar Rana, Dr. Gursimran Kaur, Dr. Kunal Singh and Dr. Vidhi.

Around 65 residents, staff members and mess workers within the age bracket of 25-60 years were screened for their blood pressure on this occasion. Around 16 candidates were diagnosed with high blood pressure. They were counselled and guided by the team regarding the healthy eating habits, lifestyle changes, stress and anger management etc. They also recommended details health examination to these candidates.

 Orientation regarding gender-based discriminations organised

Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh has organised three days workshop (13th, 14th  May, & 16th May 2022) regarding an orientation to gender based discrimination by Professor Jyoti Seth, Head (Retd.) Department of Sociology, Post Graduate Govt College for Girls sector 42, Chandigarh. The session started with the brief discussion on Gender and sex, she explained that gender which is not male and female but man, woman, and transgender. Gender discrimination is faced by mostly women and transgender’s. This discrimination is because of patriarchy that is prevalent in India from roots and to remove this discrimination not only women have to speak about their right but also men have to change their views. Individual and group activities were performed which made students made to think about various topics (dowry, domestic violence, sayings about men and women, against birth of girl child etc.) which are main factors leading to discrimination. The session was interactive and group activity further refined the learning process of the students. The masters in social work students and research scholars participated in the workshop.

The students asked questions from live-in-relationship, marriage, divorce and cultural practices prevalent in our society. Kirron Kher inaugurates automatic block making machine at C&D waste plant

Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, UT, Chandigarh today inaugurated fully automatic block making machine, hydro-vibro compaction type with batch mix plant at the C&D waste plant site, industrial area Phase-I, here today in the presence of Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor, Sh. Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

Speaking on the occasion Smt. Kher said that having a capacity of approximate 12000-15000 paver block per day, the automatic block making machine will be boon for not only the Municipal Corporation but for the city as well. She said that the demand for the efficient and fast production line of automatic block making machines adds to reducing the per-unit cost of the blocks, offers high quality, less damaged and dimensionally accurate concrete products.

She said that using a block making machine in construction has been increasing over the years but this is not a coincidence as concrete blocks offer multiple advantages economically, in terms of constructive performance, as well as in build quality and versatility.

While sharing information about the plant, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh said that keeping in view ease of citizens, an exclusive system has been set in place for transportation of construction and demolition waste from their door steps the MCC vehicle will lift 250 cubic foot C&D waste for its scientific disposal including loading and unloading @ Rs. 800 per trip upto 5 kilometer distance from the C&D waste plant situated at industrial area Phase-I and Rs. 100 extra per kilometer beyond 5 kilometer from the plant site. She said that people may also transport their C&D waste to the 23 designated C&D waste collection centers located throughout the city.

She said that any type of concrete blocks can be produced with consistent quality by fixing different types of moulds and ram in the automatic machine and designed to deliver unparalleled performance and cost-effective solution. She said that the scope of work for establishment of the automatic machine involves approximately 1.62 crores including maintenance for next 5 years including all the maintenance and wear & tear of all machinery at casting unit of C&D waste processing plant.

The Commissioner said that various concrete products will be produced in this automatic block making machine including big and small size kerbs, channel, paver block 60mm and 80mm and PCC bricks.

Others present during the inauguration were Sh. Dalip Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor, Sh. Anup Gupta, Deputy Mayor, Smt. Vimla Dubey, area councilor, other councilors and officers of MCC.

Panjab University Coffee Table book Released

Prof. Raj Kumar (Vice Chancellor, Panjab University) released the book titled, ‘A Peek into the Heaven’ by Gaurav Gaur and Prabhdip Brar. The book is unique in its effort of capturing the essence of Panjab University campus during the 2020 nationwide lockdown. Prof. Renu Vig (Dean University Instructions, Panjab University) and Prof. Y P Verma (Registrar, Panjab University) also graced the occasion.

Prof. Raj Kumar congratulated the authors and appreciated the exemplary efforts of Dr Gaurav Gaur in capturing the unprecedented visuals clicked through a simple mobile phone camera. He further advised that the book be made as a Panjab University Souvenir that can be presented to delegations at various Panjab University events.

Dr Gaurav Gaur (Chairperson, Centre for Social Work, Panjab University) shared his experience of bringing together the coffee table book. He said that, ‘The book is an effort in capturing the different emotions and expressions of nature in PU campus during the nationwide lockdown’. He further said that when people could not step out of their homes, he took this as a challenge and opportunity to document the different flavours of life at PU campus especially the tranquility and solitude of the blossoming undisturbed natureß.

Dr Prabdip Brar, University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Studies, a renowned artist of the city, who contributed by aptly captioning the pictures in the book said that this coffee table book would prove to be breakthrough and help in promoting the beauty of the campus.

Delegation from Telangana praise Chandigarh’s beauty

Chandigarh, May 12: –Delegates from Telangana, who are visiting Chandigarh on a study tour, were astonished by rich heritage of city and cleanliness of roads and gardens including market places of city beautiful.

40 members delegation led by CH. Malla Reddy, Minister of Labour and Employment in Telangana accompanied by Mayors, Deputy Mayors and Commissioners, Chairpersons and vice chairpersons of various disticricts of Telangana visited the city beautiful, Chandigarh today.

The delegation was on its one day study tour regarding “Exposure visit”. The delegation reached Chandigarh last evening and received by Smt. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner and Sh. Anup Gupta, Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

Today morning their day long sight visit schedule was started from MRF station, industrial area Phase-I through two electric buses of CTU. The delegation also visited Sewerage Treatment Plant, Maloya, C&D Waste Plant, Ind. area, Ph-I and Integrated Command & Control Centre, Sector 17, Chandigarh.

During their sight visits, different teams headed by nodal officers of MCC briefed about the projects at their respective sites. The delegation also visited for sightseeing including Bird Aviary near Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden and Capitol Complex.

PU Central Placement Cell organises Distribution of Scholarships by Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust

Central Placement Cell organised a function at UIAMS Conference hall to distribute scholarship to the students of Panjab University, Chandigarh on 10th May, 2022. These scholarships were granted to the students by the “Sarbat Da Bhala” charitable trust.

Dr. Amandeep Singh Marwaha, Associate Director, (CPC) and Training cum Placement Officer , UIAMS, enlightened about the various activities of the trust and about the event to the beneficiary students and participants in his introductory remarks.

Prof Meena Sharma, Director Central Placement Cell, Panjab University Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest Prof. Renu Vig, Dean University Instructions and Guest of Honour Mr. Sukhjeev  Singh Bajaj, CEO – IFM FinCoach and the student beneficiaries and participants. . Prof Sharma briefly enlightened the students about the help provided by the trust in past and how helpful it has been to students looking at the current state of economy. She also advised the students that they should also work hard and succeed in their career and give back to the society in similar fashion.

Prof. Renu Vig expressed gratitude towards trust. She also highlighted that there is no shortcuts to success and students should not be disheartened by the failures as these are stepping stones for future success.

Mr. Sukhjeev  Singh Bajaj and his team members also interacted with the students and had a special career guidance session in the BFSI(Banking Finance Service & Insurance)  sector .

This year in 2022, 12 students from various departments like Evening Studies, Chemistry, Math, UICET, UIPS, Economics, Education, Zoology, and IETVE have been provided with the scholarships totalling of Rs. 80,000. Sarbat da Bhala is a charitable trust which was started by Prof (Dr) S.P. Singh Oberoi. This philanthropic body is dedicated to the cause of extending economic benefits to the underprivileged and hitherto neglected sections of the society. Rules have been framed for the purpose and a scholarship holder will be one whose parents’ annual income is less than 5 Lac rupees, has 50% marks in the qualifying examination and fulfils the mandatory class attendance conditions.

The event ended with a formal vote of thanks by Professor Anupreet Kaur Mavi Officiating Director, UIAMS who highlighted that this event gave the students an insight into the career in BFSI Sector and she also thanked the Sarbat Da Bhala trust for providing scholarships to the meritorious and needy students.
