Chandigarh, March 1:- Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh today visited the site where the fire broke out in the basement of a shop-cum-office (SCO) in sector 26 recently. He was accompanied by Sh. Dalip Sharma, area councilor, and concerned officers of MCC.

The Mayor also met with the representatives of Market Welfare Association and appealed them to co-operate with the Municipal authorities for Fire NOC. He assured them for early review of Fire NOC policy.

Mayor inaugurates toilet block at sector 41

Chandigarh, March 1:- Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh today inaugurated newly built toilet block in green belt, near Petrol Pump, Sector 41, Chandigarh in the presence of Sh. Hardeep Singh, area councilor and other prominent persons of local area.

After the inauguration, the Mayor and area councilor planted saplings of various ornamental plants in the green belt. He asked the engineers to maintain proper cleanliness in the park and especially near the toilet block.

An initiative to take Sanskrit from classrooms to streets

Spoken Sanskrit camp at the Panjab University which began on 22nd February, reached its conclusion today i.e 28th February 2023 at university’s Sanskrit department.  This camp was organised by the department in collaboration with the Lok Bhasha Prachar Samiti Chandigarh under the direction of Prof. Renu Vig, the DUI as well as Chairperson, Deptt. of Sanskrit.  Participants of the camp were from diverse age groups and professions.

Professor V. K. Alankar, academic incharge of Sanskrit department expressed joy at the successful completion of the camp. “I hope that participants have learnt conversational Sanskrit here and I invite all in advance for the next camp”, said Prof. Alankar. 79 year old participant Mrs. Krishna Sharma told that she thoroughly enjoyed the camp. She said, “the instructors taught us according to our level, which is highly appreciable”.

In the camp, participants were trained in both formal and informal types of written and spoken Sanskrit. Mr. Vijay Bharadwaj, Mr. Anshul Chaudhary and Mr. Naresh Kumar were the instructors for this camp. Mr. Vijay Bharadwaj who was one of the instructors, and is also a guest faculty at the department said, “we have received a good response from the participants which is evident from their suggestions to organise these camps twice or thrice a year instead of just once”. To teach conversational Sanskrit, Mr. Bharadwaj took many of the participants to PU’s Rose Festival and introduced them to the Sanskrit names of flora and fauna displayed there. “Those around us got interested in our teaching session and expressed eagerness to learn Sanskrit”, said Mr. Bharadwaj.

PU’s Sanskrit department has been organizing spoken Sanskrit camps since a long time, a tradition which will continue. The department aims at taking Sanskrit from the classrooms to streets, where people could converse in Sanskrit as fluently as their native language, which in most cases is an offshoot of Sanskrit.

Interactive Sessions during a visit of School Students at UIFT

The University Institute of Fashion Technology (UIFT) hosted a trip of 50 students of class 9th and 11th of Shaheed Jaimal Singh Government Senior Secondary School, Ghloti District Moga. The students and the teachers were welcomed and then given a tour of the department and a brief overview of the courses available. They visited the laboratories and were given knowledge about the machines used in the process of garment designing and making by Ms. Deepa, Guest Faculty at UIFT. A lecture on career opportunities in the field of Fashion and scope of the study was delivered by JRF Kulbir Kaur. Students were apprised of Fashion design and the design process and enlightened about the various career options one can pursue after completing their study. It was an interactive session in which students participated eagerly. Overall the visit was a success; the students got to experience the university environment and gained knowledge about prospective career opportunities in Fashion Technology.

Prof. Rajat Sandhir selected for INSA Best Teacher Award

Prof. Rajat Sandhir of the Department of Biochemistry, Panjab University (PU) has been selected for the prestigious INSA Teacher Award for the year 2022. The award is instituted by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) to recognize and honour teachers for providing guidance, inspiration, mentoring students to take up careers in science & technology. The award carries a scroll, Cash award of Rs 50,000/- and book grant of Rs 20,000/-.

Prof. Rajat Sandhir is a renowned neuroscientist who has been teaching at PU for more than two decades. Dr. Sandhir has received his M.Sc and Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. His research interests are to understand the biochemical and molecular mechanisms involved in development of neurodegenerative conditions. Several of his students are holding reputed positions in research institutions, universities in India and abroad. He has published in many top-ranking journals and has mentored several students for during M.Sc. and Ph.D. He has an h-index of 49 and i10 index of 140. He is serving on the editorial board of many international journals and is a Fellow of Indian Academy of Neurosciences and Indian Academy of Biomedical Scientists. He has also been recipient of ‘KT Shetty Memorial Oration’ for year 2021 and “Mrs Abida Mahdi Award–2022” for outstanding contributions in the field of neurosciences. He has been featured among the Top 2% Scientists in the world released by Stanford University (USA).

Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Dr. Navdeep Goyal, Prof. Yojna Rawat, Prof. Sukhbir Kaur, Dr. Parveen Goyal and other Senators. Dr. Suman Sumi, PUTA and other PUTA members; Sh. Honey Thakur, President PUSA (NT) and other PUSA (NT) members, Mrs. Namita Gupta, Director, Public Relations, graced the occasion along with Wardens of Hostels and representatives of various Unions of Panjab University. The faculty, non-teaching employees, students and general public were present in large number.

The Chief Guest, along with other dignitaries, visited the Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden and various exhibitions put up by Natural Biodiversity, Enactus, Deptt. of Geology, Ankur School, Govt. Home Science College, Deptt. of Environment Science etc.. Prof. Vig, being a scientist herself, showed keen interest in exhibitions on various themes like environment, geology, waste management etc.. She admired the ambience of the garden and said that the Horticulture Division has put up a wonderful show. The other dignitaries also appreciated the efforts of Horticulture Division for maintaining the garden and organizing such a mega event. 

Er. Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (Hort.) and Organiser of the festival thanked the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, other P.U. Authorities and all stake holders of the festival and said that without their constant support and guidance, we cannot organise such a mega event. He apprised the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor that the Panjab University Rose Festival is one of its kind event in Panjab University where all teaching, non-teaching employees and their wards and students, participate with full enthusiasm. He further introduced the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor to an added event this year, exhibition on Horticulture aspects of Panjab University. The Horticulture Division is always committed towards excellence in whatever it organizes and will strive to achieve better in future.

Flower Competition was also held today. About 400 participants put up their displays in the competition in 92 categories.

The visitors were seen enjoying the performances of Folk Artists, Nachhar, Kachhi Godi, Stick Walkers etc., arranged by North Zone Cultural Centre.

In the evening, Hasya Kavi Sammelan was held at Old Convocation Ground, on 24.02.2023 at 6:00 pm. A new event introduced this year, Open Mic, wherein singers, comedians and other artists can showcase their talent was also held in the evening.

On the second day of the festival, competitions of Rangoli and Painting will be organized. During the evening Parwaz Rock Band Performance & Laughter Show by Sh. Jagdeep Singh Bheema will be held at Old Convocation Ground followed by Mr. & Ms. Rose Competition. On third day, competitions of Rose Prince & Rose Princess and Fancy Dress will be organized. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Panjab University will crown the winners of Rose Prince & Rose Princess Competition. During the evening, Performance by Punjabi Singer Lovejeet & Punjabi Singer Jassi Khan will be held at Old Convocation Ground.

ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2023 AT USOL

University School of Open Learning, (USOL), Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized its annual sports meet today, i.e. February 23, 2023 at University Sports ground with enthusiasm.  In his address to the audience, the guest of honour, a distinguished sports person, currently posted as a Deputy Superintendent of Police with Punjab Government, Mr Dharamvir Singh stressed the importance of regular practice and discipline for excelling in the field of sports. Good team work, cooperation and coordination among the players are essential for exemplary performance and output. The USOL Chairperson, Prof Neeru welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members and students and motivated the participants, saying that struggle and sacrifice are crucial for the sport persons. The University registrar, Prof Y. P. Verma also graced the occasion and appreciated the efforts and initiatives of the USOL staff to make the event a success.  USOL faculty members including Dr Reena Chaudhary, Dr Anil Kumar and Dr.Richa Sharma as coordinators put their best in organising the event. Students, teaching and non-teaching staff members took part in such sport activities as race, long jump, three legged race, shot put, sit-ups, one minute basket, and tug of war. The winners who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd were conferred upon medals. The best athletes (men) and (women) were identified as Mr Vineet Kumar and Ms Ritham Singh respectively. Approximately 60 students participated in the event.

चंडीगढ़, 23 फरवरी – हरियाणा के मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहर लाल, जो वित्त मंत्री भी हैं, ने आज हरियाणा विधानसभा के बजट सत्र में अमृत काल में हरियाणा का पहला बजट प्रस्तुत किया। मुख्यमंत्री ने वित्त मंत्री के नाते हरियाणा के इतिहास का आज तक का सबसे बड़ा बजट पेश करते हुए वित्त वर्ष 2023-24 के लिए 1,83,950 करोड़ रुपये का बजट प्रस्तुत किया। बजट में सभी वर्गों का ख्याल रखा गया और बजट में कोई नया कर भी नहीं लगाया गया।

श्री मनोहर लाल ने बजट प्रस्तुत करते हुए वृद्धावस्था पेंशन में 2,750 रुपये प्रतिमाह करने की घोषणा की। साथ ही, उन्होंने वृद्धावस्था पेंशन पात्रता आय 2 लाख से बढ़ाकर 3 लाख रुपये करने की घोषणा की। सरकारी आई.टी.आई. में प्रवेश लेने वाली 3 लाख रुपये वार्षिक से कम पारिवारिक आय वाली हर लड़की को 2,500 रुपये वित्तीय सहायता दी जाएगी।

उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार ने बजट में हरियाणा परिवार सुरक्षा न्यास की स्थापना, अंत्योदय परिवारों के लिए 1 लाख घर, चिरायु-आयुष्मान भारत योजना का लाभ 3 लाख रुपये वार्षिक तक आय वाले परिवारों को भी प्रदान करने, लैंड पूलिंग, लैंड पार्टनरशिप और ई-भूमि के माध्यम से 10 औद्योगिक सेक्टर और 10 शहरों में आवासीय सेक्टर को विकसित करने और नगरों में नवीनीकरण शुल्क के बकाया ब्याज राशि पर छूट योजना सहित कई नये आयाम जोड़े हैं।

उन्होंने कहा कि बजट सभी के लिए कल्याणकारी है। अब पत्रकारों को कैशलेस मेडिकल सुविधा मिलेगी। चोटिल खिलाड़ियों के पोषण व पुर्नवास के लिए राष्ट्रीय स्तर के वैज्ञानिक खेल प्रशिक्षण और पुनर्वास केंद्र बनाये जाएंगे। आंगनवाड़ी वर्कर्स व चौकीदारों को भी चिरायु योजना का लाभ मिलेगा। इसके साथ-साथ प्राकृतिक खेती के प्रोत्साहन के लिए बजट में विशेष प्रावधान किया गया है। सब बच्चों को शिक्षा मिले, इसके लिए 6 से 18 वर्ष के हर बच्चे की मैपिंग की जाएगी।

बजट में नहीं लगाया गया कोई नया कर

श्री मनोहर लाल ने बजट प्रस्तुत करते हुए कहा कि वर्ष 2023-24 का बजट संशोधित अनुमान वर्ष 2022-23 के 1,64,808 करोड़ रुपये से 11.6 प्रतिशत अधिक है। वित्त वर्ष 2023-24 के बजट में कोई नया कर नहीं लगाया गया है।

उन्होंने कहा कि उनका सौभाग्य है कि उन्हें अमृत काल का हरियाणा का पहला बजट प्रस्तुत करने का अवसर मिला है। यह बजट विकसित भारत के विराट संकल्प को पूरा करने के लिए एक मजबूत नींव का निर्माण करेगा। हम 2047 में समृद्ध भारत, समर्थ भारत, हर प्रकार से सम्पन्न भारत बनाकर रहेंगे। 

सतत् विकास के लक्ष्यों की प्राप्ति के लिए कुल बजट का 65.8 प्रतिशत आवंटित

वित्त मंत्री ने बताया कि वर्ष 2023-24 के बजट आवंटन को सतत् विकास के लक्ष्यों (एसडीजी) से संरेखित किया है। राज्य में लागू किए जा रहे एसडीजी की प्राप्ति के उद्देश्य से 1,83,950 करोड़ रुपये के कुल परिव्यय में से 1,20,958 करोड़ रुपये का आवंटन किया है, जो कि 65.8 प्रतिशत है। यह आवंटन उन स्कीमों के लिए किया गया है, जो सतत् विकास लक्ष्य हासिल करने के लिए क्रियान्वित की जा रही हैं।

उन्होंने कहा कि यह बजट अन्य वित्त वर्षों के बजट से हटकर है। 25 साल बाद जब हम आजादी का शताब्दी वर्ष मनाएंगे, तो हरियाणा खुशहाली और समृद्धि के मामले में कैसा होगा, इसकी परिकल्पना कर के इस बजट में उन्नत हरियाणा के निर्माण की नींव डालने की रूपरेखा तय की है।

उन्होंने कहा कि बजट में पूंजीगत परिसम्पत्ति के सृजन के लिए 57,879 करोड़ रुपये के परिव्यय, जो कि 31.5 प्रतिशत तथा राजस्व परिव्यय के लिए 1,26,071 करोड़ रुपये, जोकि 68.5 प्रतिशत है, का प्रस्ताव किया गया है।

विकास दर 7.1 प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान

वित्त मंत्री ने कहा कि यह बजट सतत विकास लक्ष्य (एसडीजी) विजन-2030 के अनुसार राज्य के विकास के लिए हमारी प्रतिबद्धता को भी प्रकट करता है। हरियाणा का भारत के सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) में लगभग 3.86 प्रतिशत का योगदान है, जो कि इसके आकार या जनसंख्या के अनुपात से कहीं अधिक है। हरियाणा के लिए यह गर्व की बात है कि वर्ष 2022-23 में जीएसडीपी विकास दर 7.1 प्रतिशत रहने का अनुमान है।

जीडीपी में हरियाणा की हिस्सेदारी वर्ष 2014-15 में 3.52 प्रतिशत से बढ़कर वर्ष 2022-23 में 3.86 प्रतिशत

51st  Rose Festival wind up with the great Light & sound show

Chandigarh, February 19:- Cultural function, performances and competitions marked the conclusion of the three-day Chandigarh Rose Festival at Rose Garden, Sector 16, Chandigarh with the Adviser to the Administrator Sh. Dharm Pal, IAS distributing various prizes to the winners of all competitions held during the Rose Festival.

Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh, Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, IAS, Secretary Local Government, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, other senior officers and councilors of MCC were also present during the occasion.

The Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes to winners of various competitions, participants of cultural events, band parties as well as gardeners. The Adviser lauded the efforts of all the team of officers to make the Rose festival success. Councilors and all senior officers were present during the prize distribution function.

On the occasion of the Rose festival there were so many programs that were performed on the third day.

 The third day was started with yoga session followed by Morning Raga, which is a classical performance by Swar Ragini mestro Pt. Subhash Ghosh ji.

After this various folk dances were also performed by different groups to showcase various cultures of India and performances include Devrath folk dance, Bhangra, kalbelia, ghoomar. After this renowned Magician Pardeep Kumar had performed a very great magic show for everyone and all this performances enthralled the public alot.

And finally very beautiful the light and sound show just melted the hearts of the audience by its attractiveness.
