*Chandigarh, October 25:-* Taking another step towards curbing  temporary encroachments from the city, Sh. Anup Gupta, city Mayor today flagged off a contingent of enforcement vehicles at MCC office premises in the presence of Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and other councilors and officers of MCC.

With the addition of two utility vehicles,  one boom recovery van and three dual cabin truck vehicles to enhance the removal of encroachments from the city markets and road sides. Further, the body cameras shall ensure that in case of disputes, the recording can be checked to resolve the same.

While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the enforcement wing in MCC has been strengthened to keep the city encroachments free.

*Chandigarh, October 23:-* Aimed at treating the wastewater generated from the Gaushalas, which improves the quality of the wastewater and removes harmful substances, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has started the work of installation of Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) at Gaushala Maloya and Gaushala at Industrial area Phase-I.

City Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta today laid foundation stones at both the Gaushalas after inaugurating the renovated Gaushala at Maloya. He laid foundation stone of Effluent Treatment Plant of 30 Killo Litter per Day (KLD) capacity at Maloya and 20 KLD capacities at Gaushala Industrial area, Phase-I, Chandigarh in the presence of Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Smt. Nirmala Devi and Smt. Bimla Dubey, respective area councilors.

While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the Municipal Corporation has renovated the Gaushala by providing better infrastructure facilities at Gaushala, Maloya at approximated cost of Rs. 80 lacs. He said that the work of installation of ETP at Gaushala, Maloya will be completed within two months at a cost of Rs. 121.93 lacs having capacity of 30 KLD while the installation of ETP at Gaushala, Industrial Area, Phase-I will be completed within two months at a cost of Rs. 101.93 lacs having capacity of 20 KLD.

The Mayor said that it was essential to construct ETPs to treat the liquid excreta of the animals, which contains high amounts of BOD and COD, which need to be treated to acceptable standards before they can be discharged into the estate sewerage system. He said that it was crucial to treat this waste to prevent any harmful impact on the environment and maintain the hygiene and sanitation levels of the city.

सर सैयद दिवस के अवसर पर पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी चंडीगढ़ के उर्दू विभाग में विभाग की साहित्यिक सोसायटी के तत्वावधान में एक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया।इसमें इस तथ्य पर प्रकाश डाला गया कि सर सैयद जैसी शख्सियत सदियों में पैदा होती है।

सर सैयद एक ऐसे रिफॉर्मर थे जिनकी जरूरत हमें हर युग में महसूस होगी। उन्होंने अलीगढ़ आंदोलन की शुरुआत करके भारतीयों में ज्ञान और कौशल के प्रति जागरूकता पैदा की और आने वाले समय में उन्हें भारत में आधुनिक शिक्षा और साहित्यिक विकास के पहले रहनुमा के रूप में याद किया जाता रहेगा ।

अपने लेक्चर में डॉ. अली अब्बास ने आगे कहा कि अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय इसी शैक्षिक मिशन की एक कड़ी है जो उस युग में आधुनिक विज्ञान का स्रोत था।

पंजाब और सर सैयद के बारे में बात करते हुए डॉ. अली ने कहा कि जब सर सैयद की पंजाब यात्रा के दौरान यहां की महिलाएं उनसे मिलीं और अपनी शिक्षा के बारे में बात की, तो सर सैयद ने उनसे वादा किया कि वह महिलाओं के लिए उचित शिक्षा प्रदान करेंगे और गुणवत्तापूर्ण प्रबंधन भी प्रदान करेंगे। और आज अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय के रूप में हमारी आंखों के सामने है। डॉ. अली अब्बास ने अपने भाषण में छात्रों को सर सैयद से परिचित कराते हुए कहा कि सर सैयद देश और कौम के शुभचिंतक और हमदर्द थे ।

मोहसिन-उल-मुल्क के हवाले से डॉ. अली ने कहा कि सर सैयद रात में देश और देश के लोगों की चिंता में आंसू बहाते थे. इसके अलावा डॉ. अली ने सर सैयद के यात्रा वृत्तांतों के बारे में भी बात की, जिसमें उन्होंने पंजाब के यात्रा वृत्तांत की विशेष रूप से चर्चा की और कहा कि सर सैयद के पंजाब आगमन पर लोगों ने उनका गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया और उनके भाषणों से लोगों में शिक्षा के प्रति जुनून पैदा हुआ,

यह उनके भाषणों का ही प्रभाव था कि पंजाब के मदरसे में पढ़ने वाले छात्रों ने अपनी पॉकेट मनी से एकत्रित छोटी-छोटी रकम भी सर सैयद के शैक्षिक मिशन में अपने योगदान के तौर पर दे दी। कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत डॉ. ज़रीन फातिमा और उनके सहयोगियों (अरविंदर कौर, सिमरन, शमीम चौधरी, मुस्कान और सिमरन कौर) ने सर सैयद की याद में एक कविता के साथ की। बाद में, क्षेत्र के शोध विद्वानों ने सर सैयद के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर अपने पत्र पढ़े।

जिसमें शमीम चौधरी ने सर सैयद की ‘जीवनी और साहित्यिक सेवाएं’, खलीकुर्रहमान आवान ने ‘सर सैयद के निबंध’ और मुहम्मद सुल्तान ने ‘सर सैयद के लंदन के यात्रियों का यात्रा वृतांत’ पर बेहतरीन निबंध प्रस्तुत किए।  इस कार्यक्रम में मंच संचालन का दायित्व विभाग की छात्रा अमनदीप कौर सिंधु द्वारा निभाया गया।

अंत में फारसी विभाग के शिक्षक डॉ. जुल्फिकार अली ने प्रतिभागियों को धन्यवाद दिया।

*MCC cracks down on unauthorized Vendors in Chandigarh; impounds Theka rehris from markets*

*Chandigarh, October 18:-* In a bold and unprecedented move, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh cracked down on unauthorized vendors in city and impounded several “Theka” rehris from around the city today.

Following the directions of Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh the enforcement teams impounded Theka coffee & shakes rehris from across the city today. 

The Municipal Commissioner took serious note of the violations by the unauthorized operations running across the city under the brand name “Theka”,  in the city and herself impounded some of these rehris and directed the enforcement staff to act tough against such violators in future. She further directed that after impounding the rehris, legal action be also be initiated against the unauthorized vendors.

Keeping in view the festive season, the Commissioner directed the concerned staff to keep the V-3 roads clear from all unauthorized vending and proper vigil be kept in the cycle tracks, where these rehris are seen frequently.

Chandigarh, October 16:- Due to replacement of 100 mm dia defective sluice valve at outlet of raw water Tank No. 1 at Water Works, Sector 39, Chandigarh, there will be low water supply during evening time in Sector 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21-A, 22-A & B, 25 & PGI, Chandigarh. The schedule of water supply for these sectors will be as under:

18.10.2023 to 20.10.2023

Morning: 04.00 am to 09.00 am (Water Supply at full pressure)

Evening: 06.00 pm to 08.00 pm (Water supply at low pressure)

The residents of these sectors are hereby requested to bear with the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

BioNEST organized scientific session IV of CHASCON 2023, on Innovation-Dawn of new era, with a segment of Innovator ki Kahani. It included a very large and diverse audience of over 1000 that had -faculty, scientists, students, start-ups, entrepreneurs, and future entrepreneurs from different institutions

Prof. Rohit Sharma Project Leader BioNEST Panjab University stated that BioNEST has always envisioned ideas turning into reality. It aims to promote start-up culture in India under Make-in Bharat and Atma-Nirbhar-Bharat campaign. He further stated that “We envision to re-direct the innovation, re-design a mind and re-channelize the pipelines of the same. To implement entrepreneurship in an academic institution and to nurture existing and potential start-ups, we are here with a humble intent to create awareness about the cause amongst the innovators.”

This panel discussion provided a foundation of ideas and understanding designed to shape the innovator’s thinking and behaviour to better appreciate the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in modern economies and academic culture.

One of the panelist Dr. Dipan Sahu, Assistant Innovation Director of Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education, & AICTE, GOI emphasized on the motto of entrepreneurs that includes initiatives to translate research output to commercial products to solve the problems of society. He quoted that we are the 5th largest in economy and 3rd Largest in the start-up ecosystem in the world. According to Global Innovation Index, India has moved from 81st position in 2015 to 40th position in 2023. To achieve this, educational institutions has made their contribution largely. He said that GOI have institutionalized the whole system where everyone should be responsible enough to understand that they have to contribute towards a system. Then, the innovation will be translated into patents, start-ups, products and social benefit. He emphasized that they started with around 300 start-ups initially and now the umber has increased up to 1 Lakh. He said that educational institutions are the epicenter of the Innovation that show ahealthy competition and has helped our economy to grow.He told about National Innovation Start-up policy (NISP) launched in 2019 that provides guidance to students for technical and non-technical streams. He explained about the program where involvement of students and faculty both are important, how they can go forward with their IP protection and pre-incubation and incubation spaces.

Another panelist Dr. Sudesh Yadav, Director, CSIR-IHBT, Palampur encouraged BioNEST, Panjab University, Chandigarh for playing a major role in creating a start-up ecosystem among northern India. He explained the major components for creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem: innovations (most important) by the Institution/ Organization, Government plays a very critical role, community, the business model and stakeholders. All these combinations are required to make a sustainable ecosystem and boost our economy. Institute of Himalayan Bioresource & Technology is one of the 37 laboratories of CSIR whose main role is to develop new technologies in different thrust areas. They have many incubation centres in which more than 60incubates and now they hold their own companies and products. He concluded that already incubated start-ups/ entrepreneurs have been providing a great motivation to upcoming scientists and researchers.

Representing One of the key stakeholder, Dr. Ashutosh Pastor, Sr. Manager & Head- Incubation, FITT, IIT-Delhi started with explaining the components of innovation ecosystem. First being, research & development, which is the foundation of any modernization. This is guarded by Intellectual property management including filing of patents/ securing your idea. At the same time, collaboration with the other organizations is very important part as not all the resources are going to be available at one spot.

Mrs. NitikaKhuranna, Head-Operations, Chandigarh Angels Network (CAN), India explained ho are angels and how they provide initial support for the innovators. CAN is a group of 85+ investors which are successful entrepreneurs in US, Canada having their roots here in India. She boosted the audience by stating that if one starts a start-up, there is nothing to lose as it’s the first step we are taking towards our idea. She said that your initial investors i.e., 3 F’s are most important customers as well as believers and investors for your product.

Under the segment of Innovator ki Kahani Dr. Jagadis Gupta, Dr. Ranjana Bhandari and Mr. Abhishek Dhaliwal shared their start-up journey as a Scientific-preneuer, faculty-preneur and a start-up respectively. They explained their researches and products, highlighting how they were able to generate initial funding, their ups and down and how they never said no or didn’t stop even though the day was looking dark. The audience interacted with all the panelists till the end and also after the panel was over.

The camp was organised in association with Shree Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh, Panchkula.

City Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta inaugurated the blood donation camp in the presence of Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

The blood donation camp witnessed an overwhelming response where 160 units of blood donated by the engineers and other staff members.

*Chandigarh, October 13:-* Honouring its courageous fire fighters for going above and beyond the call of duty, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today felicitated the exemplary dedication and valor displayed by them during a major fire and rescue operation at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on October 10, 2023.

City Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta and Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and Sh Gurinder Sodhi PCS honored 66 firemen at a felicitation programme held at community centre, sector 21, here today.

While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the heroic efforts of these daredevil fire-figters, who risked their lives in the face of grave danger, deserves highest commendation. Their unwavering commitment to saving lives and property showcases the selfless dedication that is the hallmark of the firefighting and rescue personnel.

He said that the incident at PGIMER was a critical one, where the lives of numerous patients were at stake. The Fire Officer and Fire Crew members exhibited unparalleled courage and determination, going above and beyond the call of duty.
