Chandigarh, December 7:- Looking into the seriousness of the issue of untreated waste water being disposed off into N-Choe and directions issued by the National Green Tribunal,  Sh. Kamal Kishor Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh along with Chief Engineer Sh. Shailender Singh, Executive Engineer & other concerned staff conducted a detailed inspection of the N-Choe, here today.

The inspection started from Bouginvilla Garden, Sector 3 to Sector 53 Garden of springs. All the tail ends pertaining to Storm Water Drainage in various sectors from where storm water flows into N-Choes were inspected thoroughly.

The Commissioner Municipal Corporation MCC appreciated the efforts made by PH Wing in reducing the flow of water and even completely  stopping the flow at certain points. Strict instructions were given to concerned SDEs and JEs to locate the sources from where water is coming to tail ends.

The Commissioner further instructed the engineers to locate any leakages in water supply lines and repair any such leakage on top priority.  It was also directed that notices be immediately given to such buildings where water is overflowing and entering the storm water drainage system.  If such overflow is not stopped within stipulated date, then they challan should be issued.

All the staff was directed to make all out effort in stopping the flow of untreated waste water entering N-Choe within stipulated period.

Chandigarh, December 5:- A meeting of Town Vending Committee, Chandigarh was held in the conference room of MCC, here today under the chairmanship of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

All members of TVC including Sh. V.N. Sharma, Mrs. Sangita Vardhan, Sh. Sita Ram, Sh. Ram Pal, representatives from traffic police, SSP, SDM’s and other officials of MCC were present during the meeting.

The committee approved the agenda item regarding cancellation of registration license of vending, who failed to clear their dues upto 30^th November, 2019. The committee accorded ex-post facto approval of re-draw of lots for the vending sites whose sites has been cancelled due to non feasibility and phase IV draw of lots, held recently.

A representation of tandoor workers union, Chandigarh regarding conversion of vending category was also discussed and resolved that area wise survey will be conducted on later stage in this regard.

The committee also approved the report of sub committee constituted to review the case of street vending zone, sector 15, Chandigarh, wherein the sub committee recommended to retain the demarcated vending zone already approved by the Administrator in sector 15 as per approval of 21^st TVC held on 8.11.2019 for earmarking suitable parking spaces in the vicinity of the vending zone and within vending zone by curtailing vending sites to widen existing parking.

It was also discussed and decided that a helpline will be started where general public can send the photographs of unauthorized vending locations and appropriate legal action will be taken by the MCC.

A meeting regarding Status of roads under the jurisdiction of MCC has been presided over by Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator UT Chandigarh with Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor and Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Chandigarh at MC office sector 17 Chandigarh on Thursday. During the Meeting Length of roads to be recarpetted under already allotted tenders and works scheduled to be started were discussed alongwith their budgetary requirements and provisions.

Sh. Hardeep Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, councillor, Sh. Anil Kumar Garg and Sh. S.K. Jain, Additional Commissioners, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer, Sh. Sanjay Arora, S.E. B&R and other senior officers were present during the meeting.
