Chandigarh, November 14:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has celebrated Children’s day in the office premises here today.
School Children from Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 10-A and Strawberry field, Sector 26 visited the Municipal Corporation Office and witnessed the proceedings of General House Meeting of MCC. During the visit, the students got information about the functioning of Municipal Corporation and the Role of Mayor, Councillors and Commissioner of MCC.
After the visit, the MCC celebrated Children’s day with cake cutting ceremony, during which Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, all the councilors and officers of MCC extended their warm wishes to the children.

गूगल ने बाल दिवस पर डूडल बनाया है। इस डूडल में पहाड़, पेड़ और हरा मैदान दिखाया गया है जहां बच्चे खेल सकते हैं।
साफ तौर पर बढ़ते प्रदूषण और खराब होते पर्यावरण को लेकर भी संदेश है इस डूडल में। स्कूलों में बाल दिवस के अवसर पर कई तरह के कार्यक्रम बच्चों के लिये आयोजित किये जाते हैं।

भारत में 14 नवंबर का दिन बाल दिवस के रुप में मनाय़ा जाता है। इस दिन भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री पंडित जवाहरलाल नेहरू का जन्मदिवस भी होता है।
इसलिए उनके जन्मदिवस को बाल दिवस के रुप में मनाया जाने लगा। इस दिन बच्चों को उनके बच्चों के अधिकार और उनकी शिक्षा के प्रति जागरुक भी किया जाता है।
जवाहर लाल नेहरू का जन्म 14 नवंबर 1889 को इलाहाबाद में हुआ था। उनके बच्चों और गुलाब के प्रति लगाव के बारे में सभी जानते थे।
पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू कश्मीर के एक प्रवासी पंडित परिवार से थे। पेशे से वकील पंडित मोतीलाल नेहरू और उनकी पत्नी स्वरूप रानी की चार संतानों में जवाहर लाल नेहरू सबसे बड़े थे।
उनका कहना था कि आज के बच्चे कल के भारत का निर्माण करेंगे। हम उनका किस तरह पालन पोषण करते हैं यह देश के भविष्य के बारे में बताता है।
जवाहर लाल नेहरू की इच्छा थी कि वह बतौर वकील प्रक्टिस करें लेकिन यह काम कुछ दिन तक ही कर सके। महात्मा गांधी जिस तरह अंग्रेजों से देश को मुक्त कराने के लिए अभियान चला रहे थे उसे नेहरू काफी प्रभावित हुए।
यह जवाहर लाल नेहरू ही थे जिन्होंने भिलाई, राउरकेला और बोकारो जैसे देश के सबसे बड़ी स्टील प्लांट स्थापित किए। इतना ही नहीं आईआईएससी और आईआईटी जैसे कई बड़े शैक्षिक संस्थान भी स्थापित किए।
16 साल की उम्र तक जवाहर लाल नेहरू की अधिकांश शिक्षा उनके घर पर ही हुई। इस दौरान उन्हें अंग्रेजी, हिंदी और संस्कृत भाषा की शिक्षा मिली, लेकिन अंग्रेजी की पढ़ाई पर विशेष जोर रहा।
इसके बाद 1905 में नेहरू जी ब्रिटेन चले गए और वहां से आगे की पढ़ाई की। उन्होंने यहां कैंब्रिज में नेचुरल साइंस की डिग्री हासिल करने के लिए तीन साल गुजारे। इसके बाद अगले दो साल में नेहरू जी ने बैरिस्टरी की पढ़ाई की।
आजादी के आंदोलन में पंडित नेहरू को 1929 में पहली बार जेल हुई। इसके बाद कई बार उनकी गिरफ्तारी हुई। इस दौरान नेहरू ने अपने मां-बाप और बीमार पत्नी को खो दिया।

University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University has organized a one-week (10-17 Nov), 4th IBRO/APRC Chandigarh Neuroscience School funded by International Brain Research Organization, to commemorate its Platinum Jubilee year. Forty-five delegates are attending the event and fourteen renowned national and international neuroscientists are giving scientific deliberations. Today, four of them interacted with the delegates highlighting the importance of rightful living. They also sensitized the delegates on rising epidemics of neurodegenerative diseases arising due to stressful life, wrong ways of living, nuclear family and ignorance about stress management practicing.
Dr Pike See Universiti Putra Malaysia delivered a highly interactive talk on autosomal dominant disease, tuberous sclerosis complex which is a tumor suppressor syndrome due to mutations in TSC1 or TSC2, encoding hamartin and tuberin, respectively. She then emphasized on how gene manipulations and its strategy can translated into a novel gene therapy.
Dr Laxmi T Rao Professor of Neurophysiology, NIMHANS, Bangalore enlightened the gathering about Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a devastating childhood neurodevelopmental disorder with a range of symptoms related to social-communication deficits and restricted stereotypic behavior. She informed that child abuse and insult lead to effective disorders in adulthood giving symptoms of depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. It is very important for the working parents to train the next generation in a positive atmosphere provide good nutrition, allow them to grow them in normal behaviour and channelize children into focused life.
Dr KP Mohanakumar, Director Inter University Centre for Biomedical Research & Super Specialty Hospital MG University Kottayam, Kerala cited two successful stories from his laboratory on neurodegenerative disease research, with special attention to Parkinson’s disease. He discussed how white space analysis in 2004 helped to reveal neuroprotective effect of then to be of patented antiulcer drug, irsogladine in Parkinson’s disease. He also highlighted that the problem of the brain which is coming up very fast these days, has to be identified at a young stage, the child grows into an Autistic child. The social system in India which is now moving towards the nuclear family, leaving the child alone with the made is leading to autism.
Dr. Dr B.S. Shankaranarayana Rao, Professor of Neurophysiology, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru, sensitized the young budding neuroscientists with the various aspects, related to ethics in scientific research and publication. He said that with changing technology and society, and the way we live, scientists can no longer claim that science is neutral but must consider the ethical and social aspects of their work and urged the participants to abide by several core principles of ethics. He informed that they have Centre for Well Being where the counselling is given to the whole family and also, to the Corporate Heads. He cited urbanization and stress as a major reason of all the problems of society. He advised that in order to reduce stress the professional problems should be dissociated from the family. The quality time matters for a stress free family. He shared about national mental health survey which depicted problems in young couple leading to divorce, based on which, policies have been made in consultation with the Government.
Dr Anurag Kuhad, organizing secretary IBRO/APRC Chandigarh Neuroscience School, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh specifically shared the personal views of Professor Pike See an International IBRO Faculty from Malaysia on “Future of Indian Neuroscience”. He said that Professor See is highly impressed with the enthusiasm of the young generation of Indian Neuroscientists. Her interaction with the B Pharm, M Pharm, PhD and Post Doc of UIPS was very exciting and appreciated the inquisitiveness of the students. Dr See said that the credit specifically goes to all UIPS faculty members specifically to Professor Kanwaljit Chopra, Chairperson UIPS for shaping their students in an outstanding manner so that they can make their place in International Institutes of very high repute in the field of Neuroscience Research. Dr See is 100% sure that future of Indian Neuroscience is very secure. She whole heartedly appreciated the Indian hospitality and said that she would love to keep visiting India in future as well. She showed her strong desire to collaborate with Indian neuroscience researchers.

Dr. Gurpreet Singh Bawa who just completed his Ph.D under the supervision of Professor Suresh Kumar Sharma, Department of Statistics, Panjab University, Chandigarh has been invited to conduct a session on unstructured data analysis in the upcoming annual conference on Computational Science & Computational Intelligence (CSCI) to be held at Las Vegas, USA, from 5-7th December, 2019. The conference has been organized by the reputed American Council on Science and Education (ACSE). The sessions will also involve showcase of his recent innovation on ‘Fine tuning feedback-based recommendation system using deep learning models in word vector space representations’. Prof Suresh Kumar Sharma has been consistently advising him with all his innovation work.
Dr. Gurpreet has been actively involved in innovation and research work in the domain of unstructured data analysis and has many research papers in this area in international and national Journals of repute. In the past, extensive research has been done by Gurpreet on subjects such as latent topic fine tuning, identification of conversational drivers of textual product reviews, deriving personality traits of consumers from social media posts and object detection retail monitoring using image processing. Recently, he has also written a book “Text as Data”, and it is related to modelling techniques for unstructured data analysis. Additionally, he has worked on developing in-house assets such as intelligent chatbot for retail ordering and customer intelligence.

Chandigarh, November 12:- Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament, Chandigarh laid the foundation stone of the work Strengthening/Rehabilitation of Sewerage System at Karsan Colony, Sector 52, here today in presence of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor, Smt. Chanderawati Shukla, area councilor, Sh. Shailendra Singh, Chief Engineer, other councilors & officers of MCC and local residents.
While addressing the gathering, the Member Parliament said that the sewer connection of each house shall be made independently with newly laid Municipal sewer and the blockage of sewerage system shall be solved permanently and residents will get clean potable water.
The Mayor informed about the scheme that the work shall be completed within 12 Months at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.47 crores, which is going to be executed for replacement of existing Sewer.
He said that this rehabilitation colony was established in the year 1990. The population in the colony has now increased manifolds as compared to population in 1990. The sewer system is running over capacity and frequent blockage of sewer system causes contamination of portable water supply as well as creates unhealthy conditions some times for the residents due to overflowing of sewers on the roads.
The Mayor said that the system needs to be strengthened for its smooth functioning. A new sewerage system of length 14.0 KMs is being laid of different sizes from 150 mm to 400 mm. He also informed that the estimate for the work augmentation of water supply scheme amounting to Rs.4.48 Crores is also under process and shall be implemented shortly.

Chandigarh, November 11:- Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor of Chandigarh today flagged off 4 vehicles to carry out the Municipal Solid Waste in segregated manner from Sector 17 A,B,C&D.
Sh. S.K. Jain, Additional Commissioner, Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, chairman, Sanitation Committee, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, area councilor, other councilors, Smt. Heera Negi, Dr. Amrit Pal Singh Warring, Medical Officer of Health, office bearers of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal and shopkeeper of Sector 17 Market were also present during the launch.
The Mayor informed that the 4 vehicles will collect the MSW in segregated manner i.e. wet and dry separately in different cabins from two Sehaj Safai Kendras. Earlier, the MCC use to lift these 6 bins at two times and 2 tractor trolleys were deployed extra for carrying out this work. Now with the help of these 4 vehicles, the MCC will lift approximately 8-10 tonnes of MSW on daily basis in segregated manner, the Mayor added.
The Mayor said that 55 vehicles having capacity of 3.2 cubic meter have been deployed to use for the 13 villages recently transferred to the Municipal Corporation and achieved nearly 100 percent segregation mark.
He said that similarly, these types of vehicles will be used for the unattended areas of the city which are not being catered by private waste collectors. Segregation in market areas of sectors from 9, 23 & 24 will also be started soon.

The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh organised this two days Kirtan Samagam to commemorate 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji during which documentary based on the “Udaasis” life and events of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji has been showcased in four separate pandals to spread the real message of peace and oneness of humanity.
Prominent Kirtan Jathas including Bhai Amrik Singh Ji, Granthi from Gurudwara sector 34, Chandigarh, Bhai Gurkirat Singh Ji, Hazuri Raagi, Gyani Harpal Singh Ji, Kathawachak and Bhai Karnail Singh, Hazuri Raagi from Sri Darbar Sahib, Golden Temple, Amritsar performed on the concluding day.
