A Three-day entrepreneurship and rural development conclave (ERDC – 2019) was inaugurated at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh on 17th December 2019. The event is being jointly organized by NITTTR, Chandigarh and Young Hopes of India Foundation in association with Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, Punjab.

The conclave was inaugurated by Shri Ratan Lal Kataria, Hon’ble MoS, Jal Shakti, Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The event was also graced by Shri Mukul Kanitkar, General Secretary, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, Shri Nayab Singh, Hon’ble MP, Loksabha, Kurukshetra, Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandidgarh, Prof. Sarit Das, Director, IIT Ropar and Prof. S S Pattnaik, Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh.

This unique conclave aims at bridging the gap between the most creative minds i.e., school children, teachers, educators, entrepreneurs specially focused at rural entrepreneurship and the rural governance. The outcome of the conclave is to provide the platform for materializing the innovative ideas of creative children. It provides necessary networking amongst schools, colleges, universities, public representatives, wanapreneurs, entrepreneurs, industry representatives and officials while promoting rural entrepreneurship.

The first day of the conference was focused on the need of entrepreneurial development in children by focusing on school administrators and educators. The conclave convenor Mr. Chetan Sahore introduced the guests. Prof. S S Pattnaik, Director, NITTTR Chandigarh welcomed the dignitaries and stressed on the need of for training the next generation teachers, so that they can become catalysts in educating the children of the current technological era. Shri Mukul Kanitkar in his address discussed the need to educate the children regarding the glorious traditions of the country and emphasised on making educational system in tune with Indian culture and ethos. He said, that the future entrepreneurs in India should develop technologies specially focused on Indian needs. Shri Ratan Lal Kataria, Hon’ble MoS, GoI spoke about various government of India initiatives for promoting entrepreneurship skills among the youth. He also stressed upon the role of teachers in promoting entrepreneurship skills among the students at their early age. Shri Nayab Singh, Hon’ble MP of Kurukshetra spoke about the need of rural entrepreneurship. Prof. Rajkumar, VC of Panjab University detailed upon the initiatives of PU and its incubation centre. Prof. Sarit Das, Director of IIT Ropar discussed the requirement social entrepreneurship culture to be developed among the students and offered the facilities of IIT for school children of the catchment area.

Understanding the need of bridging the gap between the current education system and the millennial generation, towards training the next generation teachers a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between NITTTR Chandigarh and Research for Resurgence Foundation for establishment of Research for Resurgence Outreach Centre at NITTTR Campus. The MoU will mutually benefit the students and faculties for nurturing the research, innovation and creativity among students.

The conclave is having three one day conferences on (i) Need for Entrepreneurship Development (ii) Innovative Rural Development Projects (iii) Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojna. The broad theme of the conclave is to create a platform to collaborate different stakeholders of rural entrepreneurship and to describe the role of colleges and universities in association with Gram Panchayats. The expected outcomes of this conclave are Rural Entrepreneurship projects in Rural areas and Sharing of ideas and understanding of mutual expectations.

INSPIRE conducted their Annual General Meeting which was preceded by a Seminar on the topic “Therapeutic Diet Management” by an eminent faculty of the region, Dr. Shreya Goel, Dietitian Shreya Academy,

 Chandigarh, at UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh. She is expert in Diabetes, Weight Management and Harmonal Imbalance. 

            She talked about the health issues in the day-to-day life. She also informed the members about the risks involved with overweight & obesity and shared their safety measures. Diets related to good health management were also shared by her. During her interactions with the members, many dos and don’ts  related to diet and obesity were handled.

            On the occasion, Shri D.M.S. Bedi, Chairman, INSPIRE and formerly OSD to Chief Secretary, Punjab released the INSPIRE Directory on the Website. He highlighted the activities and achievements of INSPIRE that how it was serving the secretarial fraternity for their growth in career and the profession by organizing Orientations, Seminars, Workshops, Conferences etc. to keep the members updated with latest developments in the area of their profession.

            Those present included Shri J.C. Verma, Chief Patron, INSPIRE, Sh K G Grover Vice- Chairman INSPIRE and Assistant Registrar, Panjab University Chandigarh and other senior members of INSPIRE.

चंडीगढ़, 15 दिसंबर ( ): पंजाब के राजपाल तथा चंडीगढ़ के प्रशासक वी.पी. सिंह बदनौर ने कहा कि जोशी फाऊंडेशन मुफ्त मैडीकल कैंपों द्वारा मानवता की बड़ी सेवा कर रहा है। वह आज स्थानीय सैक्टर-15 डी में फाऊंडेशन द्वारा लगाए चौथे मैगा मैडीकल कैंप के उदघाटन के बाद लोगों को संबोधन कर रहे थे, जिससे लोगों को अपने स्वास्थ्य की जांच के लिए सहायता मिलती है। उन्होंने कहा कि उनको यह देखकर बड़ी खुशी हुई है कि इस कैंप में जहां एलोपेथी, आयुर्वेदिक तथा होम्योपैथी इलाज की सुविधा मुहैया करवाई गई है, वहीं योगा ध्यान व मैडीकल ज्योतिष की सुविधा भी इस कैंप में दी गई है। इस के साथ ही आर्गेनिक खुराक खाने का संदेश देना भी फाऊंडेशन का योगदान प्रयत्न है।

अगले साल से होगा दो दिवसीय मैडीकल कैंप: विनीत जोशी

इस अवसर पर अपने संबोधन में फाऊंडेशन के चेयरमैन तथा पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री के पूर्व मीडिया सलाहकार विनीत जोशी ने कहा कि लोगों द्वारा मिलते सहयोग को देखते हुए उन्होंने फैसला किया है कि अगले वर्ष से यह कैंप दो दिवसीय किया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि उन्होंने अपने पिता स्व. जय राम जोशी तथा भाई स्व. नवनीत जोशी को श्रद्धांजलि भेंट करने के लिए परिवार के सहयोग से इस कैंप की शुरूआत की थी, जिससे यहां लोग बड़ा लाभ ले रहे हैं, वहीं अलग-अलग संस्थाओं द्वारा इन कैंपों की सफलता में अपना योगदान पाया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि हार्ट फाऊंडेशन सहित अन्य सभी संस्थाओं के सहयोग से ही यह कैंप सफल हो रहा है। उन्होंने कहा इस बार 10000 लोगों से ज्यादा मरीजों ने इस कैंप से लाभ लिया, जो कि पिछले साल के मुकाबले डबल हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि 3 दिसंबर से रजिस्ट्रड मरीजों के खून सहित हड््िडयों तथा छाती आदि की जांच की जा रही थी, जिनकी गिनती चार हजार से भी ऊपर गई है।

अपने संबोधन में फाऊंडेशन के अध्यक्ष सौरभ जोशी ने कहा कि लोगों को मेडीकल सुविधाएं मुफ्त मुहैया करवाकर उनके परिवार को सुकून मिलता है। उन्होंने कहा कि परिवार के बिछड़े सदस्यों को यह एक बड़ी श्रद्धांजलि है। कैंप दौरान पीजीआई से आई नॉट मंडली उत्सव कला मंच द्वारा अंगदान नामक नाटक खेला गया, जबकि अभिनय थिएटर की टीम द्वारा नर सेवा नारायण सेवा नाटक पेश किया गया।

Prof. Jagat Bhushan, Principal, Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences, Panjab University was awarded Fellowship of the Academy of Dentistry International (ADI). This transnational organization is an affiliate member of highly coveted and largest membership-based dental organization, Federation Dentaire
Internationale (FDI) and is devoted to the advancement of dentistry throughout the world and to the elevation of dental standards by continuing education. Along with the sponsorship of dental education, research and patient care projects, this Academy directly aids in the improvement of the dental and oral health and well-being of people worldwide. ADI became the first Honorary Dental organization to be affiliated with the United Nations as an NGO (Non Governmental
Organization). Lately, the ADI has been granted Special Consultative Status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC.) This consultative status is unique for an oral health-related membership organization.  Fellowship in the Academy of Dentistry International is bestowed on dentists whose professional, civic, and related accomplishments are truly outstanding. Prof. Jagat Bhushan received this award from Dr Gerhard Seeberger, President ADI and FDI, during ADI global conclave India meet which was held at Chennai on 10th to 12th December 2019.

PU Faculty elected as President of SBRT

  Professor Sanjay Chhibber of the Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh has been elected as the President of the ‘Society for Bacteriophage Research and Therapy (SBRT)’ at the ongoing Annual Conference at Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore from 12th to 13th December, 2019.  The theme of the International Conference is “Paradigm Shift in Antimicrobial Therapy-Antibiotics to Bacteriophages” and is being attended by Scientists from India and abroad.  The Conference is being supported by DST-SERB, DBT, CSIR, INSA, SFAM and other International agencies.

        Prof. Chhibber has done pioneering work on bacteriophage and its associated products like depolymerases and endolysins in treating bacterial infections using animal models.  The role of well characterized phages and associated proteins in the eradication of biofilms of klebsiella prenmoniae and methicillian resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has also been evaluated in his laboratory.  He has published more than 35 research papers on bacteriophages in national and international journals of repute. He has 5 patents and book chapters on bacteriophage to his credit.  He has been promoting the beneficial effects of bacteriophages not only in therapy but in other areas as well by delivering invited talks at different platforms in India.

Chandigarh, December 12:- The Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. has a focus on integrated development of the urban areas by keeping the restoration work of city heritage, making the city vibrant and clean, strengthening the infrastructure, and improving the service delivery. The CSCL has a vision to transform the urban development of the city with better infrastructure and improved digital services.

This was the opening remarks given by Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh-cum-CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. during the “Urban Transformation Summit-Chandigarh” held here today in Hotel JW Marriot. The one-day event organised by Elets Technomedia Pvt. Ltd. in association with Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. had interactive sessions designed to put the spotlight on the emerging ideas in urban transformation and the use of information & communication technologies for urban development in the city.

Sh. K.K. Yadav said that Chandigarh is an epitome of urban transformation model and acts as one of the crucial case studies for urban planners and architects across the world. The city founded in the foothills of Shivalik range right after India gained Independence is the first and still one of the best planned cities in the country. He said that the CSCL is currently working on four major projects i.e. water management, waste management, development technology-enabled surveillance system and energy conservation.

He further said that involvement of public is key to making a city “Smart City”. He said that it is the people and their involvement towards their city which makes it smarter. In Chandigarh, the CSCL and MCC take feedback from the people about our projects putting their grievance redressal on topmost priority, giving them timely services with transparency so that there is no allegation of corruption. So, more involvement of the public is the key to which we are working. He said that I hope with support from CSCL we will make this city a Smart City in true sense. We involved citizens to solve the problems and take the decisions for the same in the most creative and constructive way, he added.

Mr. Shin Bongkil, Ambassador, South Korea and other panelists made their presentations on challenges in urban development and changing urban landscape, Transforming urban services, Best and next services in urban India, and leveraging technology for urban development.

Other panelists were among Sh. Anirudh Tiwari, Principal Secretary, Department of Finance and New & Energy sources, Punjab, Sh. Jaspal Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of Planning, Punjab, Sh. Lalit Jain, Special Secretary, Department of Finance, Himachal Pradesh, Dr. TK Sreedevi, Commissioner and Director, Municipal Administration, Telangana, Sh. Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. N.P. Sharma, Chief General Manager (Technical), Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. and Dr. G.Dewan, MD, NHM and Director Health Services, Chandigarh.

Fire & Emergency Committee meeting held

Chandigarh, December 11:- A meeting of fire and emergency services committee held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma and attended by other members of committee namely Sh. Arun Sood, Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu, Maj. Gen. M.S. Kandal, Haji Mohd. Khurshid Ali, Sh. Devinder Singh Babla, Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali & Smt. Gurbax Rawat (Special invitees) councilors, Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner-cum-Chief Fire Officer and other concerned officers of Fire Department.

During the meeting, the committee decided that mock drills of fire & emergency services will be organized throughout city specially in schools, colleges, markets and housing societies. The members also asked the concerned officers to involve area councilors during mock drills.

The committee also discussed and decided that fire model bill and Delhi Fire Act will be put up in next meeting after preparing detailed study report for adoption in Chandigarh.

The committee also accorded approval for the disposal of condemned and unserviceable articles/items in respect of Fire & Emergency Services through e-auction. The committee fixed its next meeting on 19th December, 2019.

PU condems the assault incident

 Panjab University, Chandigarh strongly condems the recent incident of assault on woman in the Campus. Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, PU said that the incident was very unfortunate and University is taking necessary measures to curb such kind of incidents in future. Taking a serious note related to the security of residents, specially women residents of the Campus, Prof. Ashwani Koul, Chief University Security is asked to take all necessary steps on priority and any loopholes, if any, shall be plugged immediately.

Changed lifestyle, junk food and drinking habits are majorly responsible for the declining fertility in males and females. Added to this late marriages and rampant use of alcohol has added to the problems.

In such testing times IVF technology has come as a boon for the childless couple who yearn for children but could not conceive naturally due to one reason or another.

Dr Nandita Palshetkar, President, Elect-FOGSI, Vice President of ISAR, Past President – IAGE & MOGS & Dr. Hrishikesh Pai, Ex Secretary General, FOGSI, M.D., F.C.P.S., F.I.C.O.G. M.Sc (USA) said during event Baby Catwalk held at local hotel today.

The event brought together around 100 kids from happy families who were blessed through the IVF technology. Kids at the occasion walked the Ramp cuddled in their winter wear and cut the cake.

The event was chaired by Secretary Health and Family Welfare Mr Kumar Rahul along with the Director Fortis Hospital Mr Ashish Bhatia and Mr Abhijit, Dr Kang Dr Gurbir.

Dr Nandita said that latest advanced technology has helped  child less couples enjoy parenthood with a little scientific help.

Dr Hrishikesh Pai says that the society should not take infertility as a social stigma and people should approach their respective doctors. She also advised the youngsters to exercise, eat healthy and abstain from alcohol or substance abuse.

Many couples shared their success stories about the way they were benefited with treatment.
