Village development committee visits at Mauli Jagran

Chandigarh, February 1:- The village development committee for Mauli Jagrn today visits under the chairpersonship of Smt. Jyotsna Wig and other members of the committee Sh. K.S. Thakur (Ex Sarpanch), Sh. Ashwani, Sh. Sohan Singh, Sh. Ramesh Sharma, Sh. Sukhdev Kumar, Smt. Anita, Smt. Renu Sharma & Sh. Ashok Kumar (Ex. Panch), the concerned officer.

During the visit committee discussed various issues of village regarding change the old Sewer and Water line which were laid about 25 to 30 years ago, construct the community centre outer side of the village and dispensary at the place of old Panchyat Ghar. The open Nala passing inside the village should be repaired and its proper cleaning be done. Repair the street lights points, Phirni road and broken paver blocks in the street. The maintenance of the park should be handed over to the village committee/ Resident Welfare Association and dismantling the old public toilets as per the demand of the villagers, a park should be developing there.

Adviser flags off truck mounted road sweeping machines

Chandigarh, January 31:- Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today flagged off two road sweeping machines in presence of Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupra, IAS, principal Secretary Home, Sh. Ajoy Sinha, IAS, Finance Secretary, Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, IPS, IGP, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner MCC, Sh. Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest, Sh. Jagtar Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor, councillors and officers of Chandigarh Administration and MCC.  

          These two truck mounted road sweeping machines have been introduced in the city very first time having capacity of 6 cubic meter. The machines have been included in the fleet of MCC with extended support from Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee at a cost of Rs. 93.46 lacs. Having capacity to clean 6-7 kms per hour, these machines will be deployed in the cleaning of main areas of the city.

          The Adviser congratulated the MCC for getting these road sweeping machines, additional support to get crystal clean roads and other areas. He said that these machines can be utilised in night sweeping, which is another fruitful initiative taken by the Municipal Corporation.

          He said that following the footsteps of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, inclusion of these machines shall without a doubt raise the bar of the cleanliness of the city. He applauded the introduction of these machines for adding up the glory in the arena of cleanliness.

           While sharing about the functioning and strength of the road sweepers, the Commissioner informed that the two mechanical road sweepers have rotating brushes that are used to keep roads, pavements and other hard surfaces clean and free from debris. They will dump the collected silt at designated disposal sites.

          The Commissioner said that the machines acts like a big vacuum cleaner and have the capacity to intake large-size plastics and other waste which gets collected in a bin mounted on the top of the truck. He said that these machines have capacity to collect 6.5 cum of road sweep in one time. These machines are mounted with GPS devices to obtain live tracking of machines and their routes.

Commissioner reviews development works of 5 villages

Chandigarh, January 30:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner reviewed the development works for the villages Palsora, Maloya, Kajheri, Attawa, Badheri and Butrela here today which was attended by the concerned area councilors namely Smt. Sheela Devi, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Sh. Hardeep Singh, Sh. Satish Kainth, Smt. Chanderwati Shukla, Sh. Sanjay Arora, SE, B&R and other concerned officers of MCC.

During the meeting 6 works amounting to Rs. 394 lacs at village Palsora were approved and the progress as stated by the Executive Engineers was discussed in detail. The area councilor apprised that the work of connections to the individual households shall also be taken up and it has been decided that the agenda item in this regard to provide household connections for water supply, storm and sewerage shall be taken up and placed before the next F&CC meeting.

Similarly 5 works amounting to Rs. 447 lacs at village Maloya were approved under village development fund and will be completed by 31st March, 2020. The works of illumination in front of sports complex as reported is completed. The area councilor stated that a UGR shall be provided and in this connection the inspection will be conducted by area councilor and the concerned Executive Engineer, to work out the feasibility to submit the estimate.

The area councilor also requested that the veterinary hospital shall be established in Gawala colony and it has been requested to submit the request so as to take with the department of Animal husbandary in this regard. It was also directed to Executive Engineer, PH to contact CREST to work out the provision of Bio Gas Plant in Maloya and other colonies.

For village Kajheri 6 works amounting to Rs. 494 lacs were approved under village Development fund and discussed that the work of paver blocks in streets outside phirni road and construction of approach road and parking in front of community centre in village Kajheri stand completed. The work of reconstruction of cement concrete internal streets shall be taken up on the completion of public health works.

At village Attawa 6 works amounting to Rs. 149 lacs were approved under village development fund. For village Badheri 7 works amounting to Rs. 270 lacs were approved under the village development fund. The area councilor requested that 22’ wide road in village Badheri in the scope of paver blocks shall be substituted by bitumen concrete. The area councilor also requested that the adjoining V-6 road of sector 41-D near village Badheri shall also be taken up under this work as the road cut has been provided for services to village.

Six works amounting to Rs. 136 lacs were approved under village development funds for village Buterela.

The Commissioner directed all the concerned engineers to complete the works under village development funds of all the 9 villages and to submit the utilization certificate so as to seek the additional funds without any delay. The next review meeting in this regard has been scheduled to be held on 25th February at 11.00 am.

Commissioner reviews E-governance project

Chandigarh, January 30:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh-cum-CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. reviewed the implementation of E-governance in Municipal Services during a meeting held at Conference Hall, MCC building, here today.

During the meeting project of E-governance, which is being implemented was reviewed in presence of various departments/stakeholders. The Commissioner directed to all the stakeholders to review and finalize the Software Requirement Specifications document submitted by the implementation agency so that the Municipal services can be made online at the earliest for facilitation of citizens of the city.

He said that by implementing the online services citizens will be able to get the services from the comfort of their home such as water and sewage connections, online booking of community centres, submission of the property tax, grievance redressal, Online Building Plan Approval System etc. 

          The Chairman also advised that a single mobile app shall be developed to access all the services managed by Municipal Corporation and U.T. Administration for the facilitation of the citizens. The Chairman also directed the implementing agency to make the web portal of Chandigarh Smart City live by mid of February 2020.

          The Commissioner said that with the facility of e-governance in the Municipal Services will have the ability to transform relations with citizens, business, and other arms of government. He said that these technologies can serve a variety of different ends; better delivery of government services to citizens, citizen empowerment through access to information, or more efficient government management. The resulting benefits can be less corruption, increased transparency, greater convenience, revenue growth and cost reductions, he added.

The Commissioner said that by usage of latest technologies of information and communication technology (ICT) and to make government more efficient, effective and to provide transparent services, the e-governance project has been devised under Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. He said that to achieve this goal, the CSCL is focusing more to avail government services to citizens through internet. So, e-Governance is a broader thing that deals with the whole range of the relationship and networks within the Municipal Corporation regarding the usage and application of ICT. He said that this will deal with the development of online Municipal services to citizens and business such as e-tax, e-transportation, e-procurement, e-participation etc.

चंडीगढ़। आप चंडीगढ़ ने बीजेपी प्रदेश अध्यक्ष अरुण सूद पर निशाना साधा है। आप चंडीगढ़ ने दिल्ली विधानसभा में मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल के खिलाफ चंडीगढ़ बीजेपी के प्रचार के  फैसले को कटघरे में खड़ा किया है। चंडीगढ़ आप के संयोजक प्रेम गर्ग ने बीजेपी अध्यक्ष और निगम में पार्षद अरुण सूद को आड़े हाथों लेते हुए कहा है कि बीजेपी अध्यक्ष को पहले अपने शहर की तरफ देखना चाहिए। पानी के वाटर टैरिफ बढ़ने की नोटिफिकेशन हो चुकी है और सूद और उनकी पार्टी के पार्षद अपनी भूमिका ठीक तरीके से नही निभा सके है। दिल्ली की जनता को किस चेहरे के साथ बीजेपी अध्यक्ष और उनकी टीम शक्ल दिखागे ? उनका कहना है कि निगम में घाटे की भरपाई के नाम पर वाटर टैरिफ बिल बढ़ने के प्रस्ताव को लाया जाता है । और सत्ता पक्ष पार्षद विरोध के स्वर तक  उठाने की जहमत नही उठाते। जब कि कांग्रेस के पार्षद किसी काम के नही है। ऐसे विपक्ष का ना होना ही बेहतर है। बेहतर होता वाटर टैरिफ पर जरूरी सुझाव और आपत्तियां देने पर फोकस किया जाता ताकि शहर की जनता को टैक्स और बिल की बढ़ने के इस दौर से राहत मिलती।


प्रेम गर्ग और उनकी टीम के पचीस सदस्यों ने दिल्ली में प्रचार करते हुए जो सर्वेक्षण किया, उसमें पाँच सो में से कम से कम नबे प्रतिशत लोगों ने केजरीवाल सरकार के कामों की प्रशंसा की और उमीद जताई के सब सीटों पर आप विजयी होगी।

Village development visits at Khuda Ali Sher

Chandigarh, January 29:- The village development committee for Khudda Ali Sher today visits under the chairmanship of Sh. Charanjiv Singh and other members of the committee during the visit Sh. Jagtar Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor was also present.

During the visit the committee discussed productive measures to be taken inside Khuda Ali Sher Village and outer phirni road. The points discussed during the visit included sewage, storm and water line change. The primary issue discussed included removal of illegal encroachments. Apart from this, providing and developing green belt in the village, recarpeting of the streets and phirni road and importantly, changing electrical wires from all over the village.

“NSS Volunteers Experience Tips on Meditation and Adventurism”


        The second day of NSS Special Camp started with meditation session led by Ms. Baljit Kaur, Research Scholar, Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The session was based on experiencing silence through meditation, dance and music. She focused on feeling the positivity which created a calm and peaceful environment.


                In the second session, Dr. Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh, from Department of Education, University School of Open Learning, Panjab University gave an informative talk and oriented the volunteers about the aims and objectives of NSS. Later, in the same session he talked about “Undertaking Adventure Expeditions”. He delved upon how adventure trips make difference to monotonous life of individuals. He shared his personal experiences of adventure trips and how he learnt to undertake such trips through ‘learning by doing’. As a novice, he took his first trip to Ladakh on meagre
resources but which culminated into success by getting inspiration from Dicky Dolma, the youngest Indian woman to climb Mt.Everest . He also shared such experiences gave him insights for taking calculated risks, practicing minimalism, exploring wildlife such as seeing snow leopards, ibex, and bactrian camels. The lessons he learnt and
people he met during his expeditions changed his perspectives wherein he met U.S school girls going on cycle expedition to Ladakh and a retired woman professor from Georgia Tech University on a very challenging adventure trail.


                In the post-lunch session, the students participated in slogan writing and two-minute talk on the theme “Innovative Ideas to Save Environment”. The judges for the session Prof.Swarnjit Kaur, Chairperson, PU-ISSER and Prof. Sheena Pall, USOL, Panjab University, Chandigarh applauded the students for their creative ideas. The Programme Coordinator PU, NSS, Dr. Navdeep Sharma shared that the camp has been meticulously organized by team of Programme Officers, Dr. Purva Mishra, Dr.Manjushri Sharma, Dr. Gurmeet Kaur, Dr. Navneet Kaur, Dr. Sucha Singh and Dr. Upneet Kaur Mangat.

Launch of Bollywood films shooting calendar

Chandigarh, January 28:- Mrs. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh launched a Bollywood films shooting calendar prepared by national award winning actress Pragati Trikha in her office, here today.

According to the information, the calendar highlights the city beautiful and locations of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh like- the Rose garden, Parks, Roads and Markets of Chandigarh where many famous films have been shot along with the respective month and year they were shot in. These films have highlighted the city on the world map for the last 16 years i.e from 2004 to 2019.

Meeting held to discuss development activities in Khuda Lahora village

Chandigarh, January 28:- A meeting of village development committee for the village Khudda Lahora was held in MCC under the chairmanship of Mr. Sachin Lohatiya and attended by other members for the discussion of requirements and amendments for the development of village Khudda Lahora in Chandigarh. One of the major requirements included a community centre for the public to organise public events and cultural get together. Need to increase the water pressure to be used by the residents, Opening up of a playing area for the kids, Recarpeting of the road along with the bus stop, Setting up of a hoarding highlighting the name of the village and Allowance of Sabzi Mandi once in a week were the major concerns of the members in the meeting. Apart from this, need for the repair for senior secondary school was also put up for consideration. Several other maintenance works for cleanliness, sewage and sanitation were also discussed.
