Chandigarh:

Panjab University in its Syndicate meeting, here today, deliberated on all the
issues. At the outset, the Syndicate unanimously conveyed their appreciation for the
commendable performance of the students of Sports Department of PU and its affiliated
Colleges for bringing laurels by winning the First Khelo India University Games 2020
under the able leadership of Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Parminder Singh,
Director, Department of Sports, Dr. Rakesh Malik, Deputy Director and all coaches. It
was also resolved to extend all possible support to the sports persons.


        The Syndicate applauded Sh. Ashok Goyal, PU Fellow for donating blood more than
100 times at Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Center, Sector-37, Chandigarh. He
was recently honoured as a Star Donor for donating 4 times in a year

        The Syndicate approved the recommendation of nomination of 2 Eminent Jurists
namely Justice Jasbir Singh and Justice B.S. Walia on the Research Degree Committee in
Law for 2 Years w.e.f. 1.1.2020.


        The Syndicate authorised the Vice Chancellor to nominate 2 senior most
Associate Professors and 2 senior most Assistant Professor on the Academic Council for
the term 1.2.2020 to 31.1.2022.


        The Syndicate approved the increase of a unit in BA LLB(Hons.) at Panjab
University Regional Centre, Ludhiana from the Session 2020-21. However, starting LLM,
BA LLB(Hons.) in Panjab University Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre (PUSSGRC),
Hoshiarpur was kept pending for re-examining.


        The Syndicate approved the revision of treatment charges of various types of
treatment being provided at Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences &
Hospital.


        The Syndicate approved the amendment in existing policy for grant of Basic
Pay+DA+GP to extend the benefit of 9 Library Assistants working on fixed emoluments on
contract basis.         


        The Syndicate approved the minutes of the committee to look into the leave
cases of teaching staff.


        The Syndicate also approved the minutes to examine the cases for appointment on
Compassionate Ground.

Governor announces release of 132 cr special grant to MCC

Chandigarh, March 7:- Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh announced to release special grant of Rs. 132 crores to the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh here today.

In a meeting held in the Punjab Raj Bhavan, here today the Governor expressed his concern over to complete the ongoing projects of Municipal Corporation and announced release of Rs. 75 crores (including Rs. 63 crores for road re carpeting), Rs. 19.60 crores for increasing of storage capacity of water tanks, Rs. 9.50 crores for removal of Dark spots, Rs. 14.95 crores for operation and maintenance of villages and Rs. 13.03 crores under village development fund.

The meeting was attended by Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Finance Secretary, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor, Sh. Jagtar Singh Jagga, Deputy Mayor and other councilors of MCC.

While expressing her happiness over the release of grant, the Mayor extended thanks to the Governor of Punjab & Administrator, Chandigarh. She said that it was made possible through the best efforts of each councilor and team of officers of MCC. She also extended thanks to Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary for their best possible efforts for release of grant.

The Mayor and councilors raised demands for strengthening sewerage system in the villages, release of due revenue share of MCC as per the Act, provision of funds for construction of community centres, policy to convert V-6 roads into cement concrete roads, time bound recarpeting of roads falling under the jurisdiction of Chandigarh Administration, allotment of adjoining space to the MCC near Community Centre, Sector 29 for its expansion, enhancement of capacity of sewer lines in the villages recently transferred to the MCC, removal of eclipse trees inside the compounds of govt. schools etc.

Lecture on Choosing Health and Happiness at PU

Department of Philosophy, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a lecture on “Choosing Health and Happiness” by Dr.(Maj.) Neelu Panag Khanna, a practicising Counsellor at Panchkula, here today.

The Chairperson, Dr. Shivani Sharma, introduced the speaker and highlighted her achievements as a marathon runner and as a counselor. 


Dr. Panag shared her experiences and journey of life leaving the audience motivated enough.  She explained that human must not only learn but also unlearn what is unnecessary for a smooth functioning of life. She referred to the theory of ‘Coding’ while explaining the difference between ‘reaction’ and ‘response.’  The faculty members and students of the department interacted with the speaker by asking questions and sought clarifications on the problematic of life.

पतंजलि योग समिति एवं इंडियन योग एसोसिएशन (चैप्टर चंडीगढ़) की संयुक्त बैठक शिव मंदिर सेक्टर 8सी चंडीगढ़ में आयोजित हुई

पतंजलि योग समिति एवं इंडियन योग एसोसिएशन (चैप्टर चंडीगढ़) की संयुक्त बैठक शिव मंदिर सेक्टर 8सी चंडीगढ़ में आयोजित हुई जिसकी अध्यक्षता डॉ जयदीप आर्य, चेयरमैन हरियाणा योग परिषद व राष्ट्रीय संयुक्त सचिव, इंडियन योग एसोसिएशन ने की|  बैठक में जानकारी दी गई कि हाई लिपिड प्रोफाइल संबंधी प्रथम विशेष शिविर आगामी 12 मार्च से सेक्टर 15 चंडीगढ़ में प्रारंभ होगा जिसमें शहर के कोई भी व्यक्ति भाग ले सकते हैं शिविर की अधिकतम संख्या 100 होगी इसी प्रकार के दो और शिविर चंडीगढ़ और चंडीगढ़ के आसपास पंचकूला में लगाए जाएंगे । रिसर्च आधारित योग शिविरों का आयोजन  कॉमन प्रोटोकॉल पर आधारित होगा तथा इनकी अवधि तीन माह होगी और अंत में प्रतिभागियों पर योग से क्या-क्या लाभ प्राप्त हुए उसकी सम्पूर्ण रिपोर्ट तैयार कर सरकार को सौपी जाएगी | इन शिविरों के लिए समन्वयकों का चयन भी किया जा चुका है ।

शिविर  में पीजीआई चंडीगढ़ एवं पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी की विशेष भूमिका रहेगी इस बैठक की जानकारी प्रदान करते हुए तेजपाल सिंघल, मीडिया प्रभारी ने बताया कि योग संगठनों द्वारा एक प्रस्ताव सरकार को दिया जाएगा कि जिस प्रकार से एलोपैथी को बजट का एक बड़ा हिस्सा खर्चे के लिए दिया जाता है इसी प्रकार आयुष को भी सम्मान देते हुए सरकार ने कम से कम 30% बजट प्रतिवर्ष देना चाहिए तथा पीजीआई चंडीगढ़ जैसे संस्थान में आयुष विभाग स्थापित किया जाना चाहिए ताकि लोगों को सही चिकित्सा पद्धति से उपचार मिल सके जिससे शरीर में पड़ने वाले दुष्प्रभाव से उनको बचाया जा सके।  इस अवसर पर श्री नवीन चंद्र, चेयरमैन  इंडियन योग एसोसिएशन चैप्टर  चंडीगढ़, श्रीमती कृष्णा व दीपा अरोरा भारतीय योग संस्थान,  श्रीमती मीना शाह इंडियन नेचुरोपैथी ऑर्गेनाइजेशन ,श्री  विनोद कुमार राज्य प्रभारी पतंजलि योग समिति , श्री जनक मगोत्रा राज्य प्रभारी युवा भारत,  श्री आर आर पासी, श्री प्रेमचंद आहूजा, श्री सूरत सिंह , श्रीमती राजेश कुमारी , श्रीमती उर्मिला राठी , सुश्री कृष्णा  राज्य कार्यकारिणी सदस्य, पतंजलि योग समिति एवं अन्य संघठन के पदाधिकारिओं ने भी भाग लिया|

LAYING OF FOUNDATION STONE AT UILS EXTENSION BUILDING

Prof. Raj Kumar,  Vice-Chancellor Panjab University laid down the Foundation Stone of Extension building of  University Institute of Legal Studies(UILS) in the presence of Prof. Rattan Singh, Director, UILS, Prof. Rajinder Kaur along with other faculty members of UILS.  Prof. Raj Kumar congratulated the faculty members and students. While interacting with the students, he motivated them and wished them all success.  The Vice-Chancellor also appreciated the efforts and hard work of the faculty members and in making UILS as one of the most reputed and prominent department of the Panjab
University.

Chandigarh, March 5: – The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is going to start re-carpeting of V-3 road in (sector 18-19, 18-21 towards sector 21 side), (Sector 19-20 towards sector 20 side, small Rotary sector 19 and small Rotary sector 22, Chandigarh) and  Junction 10 (Sector 9-4 & 5-8), Chandigarh. Due to this re-carpeting work during the period from 6th March to 20th March 2020, the roads would be remain closed and general public is requested to take alternate route and bear with Municipal Corporation.

Panjab University Bharat-Bodh Vyakhyan will be held on 5 March 2020 at 11.30 am-1.30 pm
at DES-MDRC Auditorium, Arts Block-I, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The Bharat-Bodh
Vyakhyan will be presided over by Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, PU.

Professor Ashok Modak, National Research Professor and Vhancellor, GGD
Central University, Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) will deliver the vyakhyan on ” Remembering
Lokamanya Tilak Today: Some Reflections”.

Professor Shankarjijha, Dean, University Instruction will be the Guest of Honour on
this occasion.

Mayor starts recarpeting work of V-3 road at sector 9/4

Chandigarh, March, 4:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh today started renovation work for re-carpeting of V-3 road in sector 9/4, 8/5 and roundabouts having total length of 2.4 Kilometer.

She was accompanied by area councilor Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu, Sh. Sanjay Arora, SE (B&R) and other concerned officers of MCC. She said that these roads were last re-carpeted in the year 2013 and after 7 years the re-carpeting work is taken in hand. The condition of these roads was very poor and now these roads will be re-carpeted with a layer of 40mm thick bituminous concrete at an approximate amount of Rs. 95 lacs, she added.
