MCC Commissioner reviews developmental works of public health circle

Chandigarh, October 16:- Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS,  Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh reviewed various works being carried out
by the Public Health Wing of Municipal Corporation today. She was accompanied by Sh. N P Sharma, Chief Engineer and other officers of Public Health
Wing of MC to review the works.

She initially had an introduction of officers upto JE level. She was briefed about the various responsibilities entrusted to various officers Shailender Singh, Superintending Engineer informed that various works such as Water Supply, Sewerage, Storm water drainage and O&M of Public and Community toilets. He also briefed upon the Budget Provisions for Public Health during the year 2021-22. Commissioner directed to ensure that work is equally distributed amongst all officers. She also directed that seniority should be ensured while assigning additional charges of higher
posts.

The progress of all ongoing works under the Public Health Wing was reviewed and strict directions were given to officers to ensure the time lines. She asked the officers to identify the bottlenecks such as road cut permissions or permissions from the Forest Department and pursue that the permissions are obtained at the earliest. She also directed to issue notices to the defaulting contractors / agencies and take action as per the agreement. The progress of works will be reviewed on a monthly basis.

The Commissioner also acknowledged the good work done by officers of Public Health team and said that it feels good whenever appreciation is received from the general public for responding to the grievance immediately and resolving it in a time bound manner. She motivated the officers to do work by keeping the interest of general public on top priority.

चंडीगढ़,15 अक्टूबरI मुख्यमंत्री ने सिरसा के युवाओ से वर्चुअल संवाद के दौरान सभी युवा साथियों को विजयदशमी की शुभकामनाओं के साथ अपने संवाद की शुरुआत कीI मुख्यमंत्री ने अपनी युवावस्था का एक किस्सा सुनाते हुए कहा कि मेरा बचपन से सपना था कि मैं डॉक्टर बनूं I मैंने डॉक्टर की परीक्षा का पेपर भी पास किया और मेरा एक अच्छे कॉलेज में दाखिला भी हो गया I लेकिन 1970 में जब मैं आरएसएस में शामिल हुआ तो मेरे जीवन में एक नया मोड़ आया और मैं राजनीति में सेवा करने के लिए आ गयाI मैंने सपने में भी नहीं सोचा था कि मैं इस प्रदेश का मुख्यमंत्री बनके आप लोगों की सेवा करूंगाI

यूथ फॉर न्यू हरियाणा(वाईएफएनएच) के बैनर तले हुए इस संवाद को ‘युवा मंथन विद मुख्यमंत्री’ नाम दिया गया। संवाद का मुख्य विषय “ऐलनाबाद की चुनौती और नए अवसर” रखा गया। संवाद में चयनित डॉक्टर, शिक्षक, बैंक अधिकारी, उद्योगपति, स्टार्टअप, आईटी से जुड़े युवाओ और युवा वकीलों को शामिल किया गया।

मुख्यमंत्री ने युवाओं को कहा कि अगर प्रदेश को विकास के पथ पर अग्रसर रखना है तो आप जैसे सभी शिक्षित युवाओं को हर क्षेत्र में आगे रहना होगा, तभी हमारा देश विकास के पथ पर अग्रसर रहेगा I

ऐलनाबाद उपचुनाव के विषय पर क्षेत्र के गांव से युवाओं ने मुख्यमंत्री से सवाल पूछे जिनका मुख्यमंत्री ने बड़ी सरलता व सहजता से जवाब दिया-

शैलेंद्र बेनीवाल के एक सवाल का जवाब देते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि हमारी प्राथमिकता यही है कि प्रदेश के हर क्षेत्र तक पानी पहुंचे,  नहर से खेतों तक आने वाली माईनरो को पक्का किया जाएगाI पूरे प्रदेश में 20 साल पुरानी माईनरो को दोबारा पक्का किया जाएगा और उनकी चौड़ाई को 24 फ़ीट से बढ़ाकर 40 फ़ीट किया जाएगा ताकि पानी की किल्लत न होI जो परिवार सेम ग्रस्त क्षेत्र की चपेट में आकर बर्बाद हो गए हैं उनके लिए हम एक योजना बना रहे हैं ताकि उन परिवारों को दोबारा आबाद किया जा सकेI

प्रदीप महेला के सवाल का जवाब देते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि सिरसा क्षेत्र तीन तरफ से अन्य प्रदेशों से घिरा हुआ है, जिस वजह से यहां का युवा नशे की चपेट में आ रहा हैI हमारी टीम ने वहां एंटी नारकोटिक्स की स्पेशल टीम लगाई है, जो ड्रग माफियाओं को छापेमारी करके पकड़ रही है और इस ड्रग माफियाओ की चैन को तोड़ रही हैI सिरसा पुलिस ने क्लीन कैंपेन के तहत अभी तक 80 ड्रग माफियाओं को पकड़ा है, जिससे ड्रग माफियाओं की चैन लगभग टूट चुकी हैI ऐसे युवाओं को जो नशे की चपेट में आ चुके हैं उनको इस नशे की चैन से निकालकर पढ़ाई, खेल व सांस्कृति के क्षेत्र में युवाओं की रुचि को बढ़ाने के लिए अलग-अलग कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन कर रहे हैं जिससे युवा नशे को छोड़कर अपने भविष्य को सुधार सकेंI

रितिका के एक सवाल का जवाब देते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि किसान आंदोलन की आड़ में कुछ शरारती तत्व लोकतंत्र की मर्यादाओं को तोड़ रहे हैं जो कि एक लोकतांत्रिक देश में कतई भी ठीक नहीं हैI कृषि कानूनों का मुख्य लक्ष्य यही है कि किसान केवल उत्पादन तक सीमित न रहकर व्यापार करने के बारे में भी सोचेI

मुख्यमंत्री ने अपनी इजरायल यात्रा का एक किस्सा बताते हुए कहा कि वहां के छोटे किसानों ने मिलकर हजार एकड़ में अपना फार्म बना रखा है और सभी मिलकर खेती करते है ऐसा करने से उनकी आमदनी अच्छी होती है और फसल भी अच्छी होती हैI

संतलाल के सवाल का जवाब देते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि सभी किसान भाई अपनी फसलों का बीमा जरूर करवाएंI इसके लिए सरकार ने भी काफी योजनाएं चला रखी है जैसे प्रधानमंत्री फसल बीमा योजना के तहत भी आप अपनी फसलों का बीमा करवा सकते हैंI हमारी सरकार ने किसानों को फसल खराब होने पर हजारों करोड़ का मुआवजा दिया है और अब भी प्रशासन को गिरदावरी के आदेश दे रखे हैI मेरा सभी किसान भाइयों से कहना है कि वह सभी अपनी फसलों का बीमा अवश्य करवाएं ताकि भविष्य में आपकी फसल खराब होने पर आपको नुकसान ना होI

गगन के सवाल का जवाब देते हुए कहा कि अगर आपके क्षेत्र में 20 किलोमीटर के क्षेत्र में कोई कॉलेज नहीं है तो हम जल्द ही आपके क्षेत्र में कॉलेज खुलवाएंगे ताकि आपके क्षेत्र के बच्चों को उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के लिए घर से ज्यादा दूर ना जाना पड़ेI

गगन ने मुख्यमंत्री को बताया कि हमने पूरे ऐलनाबाद क्षेत्र में युवाओं की टीम बनाई हुई हैं जो अपने-अपने गांव में घर-घर जाकर भारतीय जनता पार्टी की नीतियों को लोगों तक पहुंचा रही हैं और उनको जागरूक कर रही हैंI

हरियाणा पुलिस में कार्यरत ऐलनाबाद के रोहतास ने मुख्यमंत्री से कहा कि मैं एक गरीब परिवार से संबंध रखता हूं और आप की सरकार में मुझे मेरी योग्यता के आधार पर नौकरी मिली इसके लिए मैं आपका बहुत-बहुत आभार प्रकट करता करता हूंI

इस पर मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि हमारे लिए पूरे प्रदेश की पौने तीन करोड़ जनसंख्या एक परिवार है और हम इनमें से किसी के साथ भी भेदभाव नहीं कर सकते, आगे भी नौकरियां मेरिट के आधार पर ही मिलती रहेंगीI

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि हमारे प्रदेश में जितने भी स्टेडियम हैं सभी स्टेडियम के लिए सरकार लगभग 350 कोच की भर्ती करेगी, जिनमें राष्ट्रीय व अंतरराष्ट्रीय पदक विजेता खिलाड़ियों को प्राथमिकता दी जाएगीI जिससे हमारे प्रदेश के खेल का स्तर और भी अच्छा होगा, जिससे हमारे प्रदेश के खिलाड़ियों को अच्छा प्रदर्शन करने में मदद मिलेगीI

और अंत में जाते-जाते मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि ऐलनाबाद की जनता अपने सबसे ताकतवर हथियार वोट का प्रयोग करेगी और सही प्रत्याशी को जिताएगी।

A National Webinar on the “Contemporary Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s Philosophy” was held today at the University School of Open Learning Department, Punjab University on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Prof. Madhurima Verma, Chairperson, USOL welcomed the speaker and deliberated upon the relevance of Mahatama Gandhi’s philosophy.

            Dr. Manmohan Singh was the keynote speaker on the occasion. He referred to the thinkers who shaped Mahatama Gandhi’s personality and spoke of his philosophy. He emphasized upon understanding Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence, truth and Swaraj in a contemporary perspective.

            Prof. Pali Bhupinder Singh, a teacher and eminent playwright of the department thanked the guests for participating. The webinar concluded with a discussion between the speaker and the participants.

Exhibits by students of USOL, PU at CLKA Gallery

The Photography exhibition by the students of USOL, Panjab University was inaugurated at Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademy ’s Gallery at underpass connecting Sector 16 and 17, by Dr. Bheem Malhotra, Chairperson, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademy (CLKA) and Prof. Madhurima Verma, Chairperson, University School of Open Learning, PU. The exhibition is supported by CLKA. A total of 20 students pursuing PG Diploma in Photography (PGDP) from University School of Open Learning (USOL), Panjab University, Chandigarh are exhibiting their 55 works. The exhibition is open till 19th October 2021 (Tuesday).

            Prof. Madhurima Verma congratulated the students for displaying their art work for the general public and motivated the students of USOL to further hone their skills and creativity. Dr. Bheem Malhotra interacted with artists and appreciated their exhibited works.

            The photography exhibition was curated under the mentorship of Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh, Coordinator, PGDP and CLKA and in informed that this exhibition is part of the practical paper in the curriculum. The works of Amandeep Singh, Arrush Chopra, Abhinav Poonia, Deepak Gupta, Amanpreet Kaur, Tushar Narula, Suresh Kumar, Sahil Chaudhary, Vikas Kapila, Shubhangi Ambashtha, Neha Sharma, Sourav Joshi, Sarabjit Singh Bhinder, Sakshi Gaur, Vishal Chauhan, Hargobind Singh, Gagan Mittal, Jagdeep Singh, Paramdeep Singh and Jaspinder Singh are exhibited in the Group Photography Exhibition.

            During the USOL’s Personal contact Programme (PCP) students got insight into various aspects of Photography from Sh. Swadesh Talwar, Kulbhushan Kanwar, Vikas Kahol, Pradeep Tewari, Guldeep Singh, Sudhir Baweja, Shivali Raj, Praveen Jaggi, Anurag Malhotra, Neetu Katyal, Rajni Chauhan, Hitesh Vig, Sukhjit Singh, Vikram, Arun Bansal, Kamal Kishore Shankar and Pawan Sing. Webinar on Continued Challenges of Corona Pandemic: Learning from Experience by PU

The Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a webinar on the topic “Continued Challenges of Corona Pandemic: Learning from Experience.”

            Prof. V.R. Sinha, Dean University Instructions, Panjab University, Chandigarh in his inaugural address accentuated the fact that though the pandemic created a havoc throughout the country it also had some underlying positive effects. It was only due to the emergence of this pandemic that the world recognized the power of Indian pharmaceuticals.

            Prof. V.M. Katoch, former Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) summarized the experiences of the 20 months of COVID-19 in India. He discussed the major factors which contributed to India’s success in controlling the pandemic. According to him the India’s response to COVID-19 has been stupendous and inspiring across all levels of the country. Further in his talk Prof. Katoch discussed how lethargy, negligence and undue optimism after the first wave of COVID-19 resulted in the emergence of consecutive waves. He also underlined the part which various initiatives such as “Jagrukta abhiyan” played in empowering the population for prevention and timely management of COVID affected persons and discussed the key factors relevant for such awareness programs. He also talked about the importance of Ayurveda and yoga and the role they played in combating the post COVID complications. Prof. Katoch laid an emphasis on the correct use of mask, social distancing, personal hygiene and special care of person in high risk groups since these are the only things which can help in making the entire situation a little less complicated.

            Earlier, Dr. Deepak K. Rahi, Chairman, Department of Microbiology and the organizing secretary of the webinar gave a brief overview of the program and discussed how COVID-19 has deeply affected the society, health system, economy, and government worldwide. He highlighted the fact that a year and a half later there are still so many lessons to be learned from this once-in-a-generation phenomenon.

Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) organized a book release function at Chandigarh Press Club yesterday evening for official launch of Alka Kansra’s book of poetry, “Zindagi Kavita Ho Gai”

Chief Guest of the evening was Haryana’s Additional Chief Secretary Dr Sumita Mishra IAS, an accomplished poet and Chairperson CLS, who commended Alka for amazing collection of seventy poems that touch varied aspects of life, love, romance, relationship and gender concerns.

She said that creative pursuits beyond one’s mundane professional life help balance it that makes life meaningful and joyful.

General V P Malik PVSM, AVSM (Retd) and his wife Dr Ranjana Malik graced the occasion as Guests of Honour, and ex-IAS, author and TEDx speaker Vivek Atrey was the special guest on this occasion.

General VP Malik said that “though I have not read much poetry but I could not put down Alka’s latest anthology which touches the heart and provides glimpse into the poet’s vast canvas of experiences she assimilated and could express it in a simple style, which is more difficult to do.”

Dr Ranjana Malik recited some of the poems from the book and pointed out the diverse facets of Alka’s personality who had been a teacher of chemistry and inspired many lives of young girls, and now through her poetry, she is touching the lives of the people.

Vivek Atray suggested that everyone should discover the book that each one carries within, and share it with the world by publishing them.

Actor, Director and writer Vijay Capoor conducted the programme and interspersed the programme with poetry from the book.

Alka Kansra shared her journey of writing which started after her retirement as head of the chemistry department from MCM DAV College, and expressed her gratitude to her mentor – the famous writer Dr Virender Mehandiratta, who guided her and honed her skill in Hindi poetry that resulted in her first book in 2019, “Peedhion ke kshitij” (पीढ़ियों के क्षितिज).

Governor laid foundation stone of development works in 13 villages

Chandigarh, October 9:- In order to provide ease of living in the villages falling under the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today laid foundation stone of various developmental projects scheduled to be done in 13 villages here today at village Behlana in the presence of Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parliament (virtual), Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Sh. Dharmpal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, other senior officers of Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation.

While addressing the local residents and representatives of village development committees of all 13 villages, the Governor said that he can understand due to COVID Pandemic the pace of development works hampered to some extent but the intention to do the work remained intact amongst the officers of Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation. With the execution of these sewerage and water supply schemes, approximately a population of 1.30 Lacs would be benefited.

The Governor said that in India, water is given the status of an incarnation of God, ‘Varuna’, who is worshipped as the god of all forms of the water element. It’s my sincere advice to you all that to meet the diminishing water resources and escalating water demand, water conservation is the need of an hour.

He said that in today’s context, the saying “water saved is water generated” is truer than ever before. We all need to learn how to use water judiciously. Integrated water resource management has now become absolutely necessary. Similarly, the existing institutions involved in providing the basic needs be restructured and strengthened. The 3 R strategy of reduce, recycle and reuse of the resources has to find place in our day to day lives.

Smt. Kirron Kher, Member Parilament, Chandigarh addressed the public virtually. She said that with the increase in Population of Chandigarh, the population here in these villages also increased manifold. The capacity of the infrastructure has, therefore, become inadequate.  The developmental works in these will be carried out by the Municipal Corporation in phased manner and today the foundation stone of Sewerage and Water Supply of 13 villages have been laid and the work commenced from today.

She said that besides this, renovation works of Dharmshalas, Sampark centres, Anganwadi Buildings, Health Centres, Cremation Ground, Panchayat Ghar and Community Centres will also be taken up in these villages at the cost of Rs. 204 Lacs for which tendering process has already been initiated.

Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh said that the Municipal Corporation has undertaken various projects for the upkeep of these villages so that the residents of these areas would not face issues related to basic amenities. The basic infrastructural facilities will also be upgraded and strengthened at a cost of Rs.102.21 crores. Existing conventional streetlights are also required to be replaced by LED lights and various dark spots need to be lightened on priority, he added.

He said that a sum of Rs. 50 crore has been received as dedicated funds and initially the work for strengthening the sewerage, storm water drainage and water supply pipelines in these villages has been taken up for upgradation. The work of internal streets, roads, footpaths, horticulture & Electrical work will be taken up after completion of the Public Health work. To carry out these remaining works additional dedicated funds amounting to Rs. 20 crores are required, added the Mayor.

Dharmpal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh said that there were issues of these village residents are facing daily problems of contaminated water, overflow of sewerage on the street/roads, broken roads/streets, poor conditions of footpaths and storm water is running in open drains. Existing conventional streetlights are also required to be replaced by LED lights and various dark spots are also required to be lightened.

He said that for the upgradation of these infrastructure facilities like sewerage line, storm line, water supply line, streets/roads, lights and upgradation of buildings in these villages, a project has been prepared by the Municipal Corporation and the work has been initiated today.

Earlier, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest and all other guests during the programme. She said that these thirteen villages have been brought under the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation. Chandigarh are Behlana, Raipur Khurd, Raipur Kalan, Makhan Majra, Daria, Mauli Jagran, Kishangarh, Kaimbala, Khudda Jassu, Khudda Lahora , Khuda Ali Sher, Dhanas, Sarangpur on March 2019. She said that the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has prepared a detailed developmental plan for the upgradation of infrastructure in these villages and the works are being started from today and it will be completed well before the stipulated time frame.
