Panchkula, 27th September 2025: Paras Health Panchkula has achieved a remarkable medical milestone with Senior Consultant Dr. Amit Bansal successfully performing a complex robotic-assisted hysterectomy and cholecystectomy on a 137 kg high-risk female patient suffering from abnormal uterine bleeding and symptomatic cholelithiasis. The patient faced challenges during anaesthesia, including difficult intubation and desaturation. Despite these complications, the surgery was completed safely using advanced robotic technology, demonstrating the hospital’s capability to manage complex cases with precision.
The case highlights the growing role of robotic surgery in managing high-risk and complex conditions with increased safety and precision. Over the past month, Paras Health Panchkula has performed nearly 15 robotic procedures, including gall bladder removals, hysterectomies, gastrointestinal surgeries, and multiple hernia repairs. Many patients, including this case, have benefited from faster recovery times, with some discharged pain-free within two days. These outcomes reinforce the hospital’s commitment to offering cutting-edge surgical care with faster recovery and improved patient comfort.
Speaking about the benefits, Dr. Amit Bansal, Senior Consultant – General and Laparoscopic Surgery at Paras Health Panchkula, said, “Robotic surgery is a sophisticated tool that enhances the surgeon’s precision and control. It allows us to perform complex procedures with less pain and quicker recovery for patients. Many of those we treat with this technology can go home within a couple of days, which is often sooner than with conventional methods. While it does come with additional costs, the benefits in terms of improved outcomes and faster healing make it worthwhile for carefully selected patients.”
Mr. Pankaj Mittal, Facility Director, Paras Health Panchkula, added, “Our mission is to ensure that patients in the region have access to the latest and most effective medical technologies. The success of complex robotic surgeries at our hospital reflects both the expertise of our doctors and our commitment to patient-centered care. We will continue to strengthen our robotic surgery program so that more people can benefit from faster recovery and improved outcomes.”
While robotic surgeries may require additional training and time, they consistently deliver superior results in complex cases—offering lower complication rates, minimal blood loss, reduced hospital stays, and quicker return to daily life. With continued investment in robotic capabilities, Paras Health Panchkula is paving the way for a new standard of surgical excellence in the region.
