MCC to take strict action against defaulter cable operators

Chandigarh, October 7:- A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sh. Sorabh Arora, Joint Commissioner, MCC with cable operators regarding outstanding dues to be recovered from cable operators, who are not paying ground rent timely.

During the meeting it was discussed and decided that all the cable wires should be provided with identification tags showing name of cable operator at every distance of 50 meter; The cable will not be hanged on electricity poles on MCC land; No cable will be allowed between the parks, green belts and institutional buildings; Cable should not be hanged on the trees.

It was also decided that the cable should be laid at the height of 12 ft. and at least from ground and 6 ft. away from road edge; cable operator will not run internet services through their overhead cable network lines. It will be penalized @ Rs. 10,000/- per violation and challan will be issued by the MCC. The cable operators, who have failed to compliance the directions issued by the MCC regarding following the guidelines will face strict action as per law.

During the meeting the Joint Commissioner directed all the Executive Engineers of Roads to take action against defaulters who are not paying their dues timely.
