MCC Panel meets over generation of revenue
Chandigarh, July 24:- A meeting of committee constituted by Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh to enhance revenue sources of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today in the conference room of MCC, which was attended by member councilors namely Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu, Sh. Davesh Moudgil, Sh. Satish Kumar Kainth, Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner, Sh. Saurabh Arora, Joint Commissioner, and other senior officers of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
During the meeting the financial status and sources to enhance the income of Municipal Corporation and following issues were discussed in detail:
· Agenda be put up in the General House meeting regarding levying Green tax on commercial vehicles of other states entering into the city.
· Possibilities be explored to allow petrol limit instead providing separate vehicles to the officers excluding senior officers in the Corporation to avoid expenditure of maintenance and services etc.
· To review the rates and policy on cable/optical fiber be put up in the general house and charges to be fixed for the cables/wires crossing through trees, road berms and MC land.
· Maintenance policy of public services including open air gyms and children play equipment be reviewed to curtail extra expenditure on them. The inventory of all the open air gym equipments, children play equipments, benches, swings and huts be maintained and put up in the next meeting.
· Parks given to Resident Welfare Associations for maintenance purposes be checked properly and reviewed regularly.
· Properties belongs to MCC such as open air theater at sector 48 and Mahila Bhawan in sector 38 be given on rent and booking of such properties be opened at the earliest. The committee will visit Sector 48 open air theater and Mahila Bhawan, sector 38 to take stock of infrastructure and facilities available over there.
· Detail of total manpower deployed in sanitation wing including machinery deployed (owned or hired on rent basis) be prepared and put up in the next meeting alongwith beat wise national norms to deploy sanitation workers as per the area specified.
· Proposal be prepared to allow advertisement in all the vehicles of Municipal Corporation to generate revenue.
· Policy be framed to collect charges from the areas, where the shop owners encroached upon Govt. land such as backsides and corners of booths, showrooms and bayshops etc. throughout city. Detailed survey be conducted in this regard and charges be decided on per Sq. ft. basis till the final policy be prepared and notified.
The next meeting has been scheduled to be held on 29th July, 2020 at 11.00 am.
