MCC organised medical checkup camp for door to door waste collectors
Chandigarh, February 17:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh organised a free medical check-up camp for the door to door waste collectors of city today. The camp was organised at civil dispensary, Dadumajra and inaugurated by Smt. Sarbjit Kaur Dhillon, Mayor, Chandigarh.
During the camp, medical tests of nearly 324 persons including sanitation workers and door to door waste collectors have been done.
While speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sarbjit Kaur Dhillon, Mayor said these types of camps will be organised regularly, so that the sanitation workers and door to door waste collectors can get themselves medically checked and treated free of cost.
The waste collectors and sanitation workers were examined during the camp comprising skin and medical OPD along with all comprehensive services.
Awareness was created regarding prevention, screening and treatment of communicable, non communicable diseases, leprosy, tuberculosis and HIV. Out of 324 persons, 94 visited the skin OPD.
Beneficiaries were also made aware of E.Sanjeevani services and 45 were helped in generating their health IDs. 56 beneficiaries were registered and counselled by SOSWA NGO under SAACS out of which 12 underwent HIV testing.
