MCC honours its workers on Labour Day
Chandigarh, 1st May:- Aiming to spread awareness of labour rights, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh celebrated International Labour day with a large number of workers participating in various programmes across the city, including cultural performances, programmes and meetings etc.
In a programme held at Community Centre sector 27, City Mayor, Sh. Anup Gupta accompanied by area councilor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla with senior officers of MCC said that the MCC has been implementing various development programmes for the welfare of labourers including their regular medical health checkup besides their insurance cover of 40 lacs each case.
The Mayor thanked the labour force for their contribution in building the nation and said that the labourers toil day and night contributing immensely in the progress of the city beautiful. He said that the MCC also renewed the commitment towards the welfare of its workers and to bring prosperity in their lives. He extended his gratitude and appreciation to all the workers of every field.
Similar programme was organized at Open Air Theater, sector 48, where the area councilor Sh. Rajinder Sharma and senior officers of MCC honoured sanitation workers, who play a crucial role in maintaining public hygiene and cleanliness, often working long hours in difficult conditions. In addition to that a cultural programme was organized by the workers of B&R wing, MCC at Community Centre, Sector 8 where their hard work and contributions towards the city was recognized by the senior officers of MCC.
Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, MCC extended her gratitude towards the hard work of workers and acknowledged the essential role that these workers play in maintaining the city’s roads, parks, street lights, market areas, public places and infrastructure. She thanked for their efforts in keeping the city’s transportation network running smoothly.
She said that the MCC took pride in recognizing the hard work of its employees, especially on International Labour Day. The city recognizes the dedication and commitment of all workers and acknowledges their contribution to the city’s growth and development, she added.
