*MC Chandigarh Constitutes Supervisory & Emergency Response Teams to Curb Encroachments*
To strengthen the monitoring mechanism against encroachments, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has deputed senior officials as Supervisors to oversee strict enforcement in their respective areas.
As per the orders of Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissione, MC Chandigarh, the following officers have been assigned the responsibility of supervising anti-encroachment activities in addition to their routine duties:
• All SDEs (B&R) in their respective areas.
• Inspector (Enforcement) across the entire city under MC jurisdiction.
• All Chief Sanitary Inspectors (MOH) in their respective areas.
The Supervisors shall maintain strict vigilance over their areas, coordinate with subordinate staff (Sanitary Inspectors, Sub Inspectors Enforcement, Junior Engineers), and take timely enforcement action as per the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976 (as extended to UT Chandigarh), the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood & Regulation of Street Vendors) Act, 2014, and the Street Vendors Bye-Laws, 2018.
To further strengthen field-level monitoring, the Municipal Corporation has also constituted Emergency Response Teams (Flying Squads). These teams will undertake enforcement drives and promptly address temporary encroachments in various sectors and markets across the city.

These teams shall work in close coordination with subordinate enforcement staff and ensure timely removal of temporary encroachments. Their vigilant and coordinated actions are expected to significantly improve compliance and deter habitual encroachers.
The Superintending Engineer (B&R) and Medical Officer of Health, MC Chandigarh, shall provide vehicles, machinery, and manpower support to these Supervisory and Emergency Response Teams for smooth operations.
