Mayor launches “Neki Ki Deewar” scheme in City

Chandigarh, December 18:- Smt. Raj Bala Malik, Mayor, Chandigarh today launched the “Neki Ki Deewar” scheme of Municipal Corporation, here at Community Centre, Sector 8, Chandigarh in presence of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu, area councilor, Sh. Sorabh Arora, Joint Commissioner, Dr. Amrit Waring, MOH and other concerned officers of MCC.

During the launch, the Mayor said that the Municipal Corporation will start this type of facility throughout Chandigarh outside the Community Centres of MCC in phases. She said that kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see and in today’s time, it is a language which the world needs most.

The Mayor said that while, everyone is focusing on living a luxury and comfortable life, there are still many people who have a desire to bring happiness in life of others as well. People leave their old clothes, old blankets, sheets, shoes and other items on this so that it can be used by the needy people, added the Mayor.

Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC said that there are many people in the city who are helping the needy by taking care of them and putting all the things on the wall of kindness that can help the poor and needy people. He said that people in need get clothes from here and some people get blankets, sweaters, etc. He said that the MCC is also running a vehicle namely “Swachhta Swari” throughout city sectors and colonies including villages to collect clothes, bags, shoes etc.

He said that Municipal Corporation will provide this type of wall every sector in city so that everyone will contribute in this wall and serve the poor and helpless. He said that alongwith contributing clothes or other items its awareness is also necessary, otherwise there will be a wall but no goods will be taken from there  because those who have the goods do not know. He said that the MCC will create awareness about these walls to tell those needy people.

The Commissioner said that No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. We should help others as much as we can so that we can bring a smile on someone’s face.
