Public dialogue on developing a green growth plan for Punjab with focus on sustainable &
organic agriculture, holistic health and Millets.
Kudrat Utsav Evam Samvaad, a one of a kind event of public dialogue and Millet festival was inaugurated in Chandigarh this morning by the honorable speaker of Punjab assembly, Shri Kultar Singh Sandhwan. This unique program has been conceived and organized by Kheti Virasat Mission, a NGO spearheading the organic and sustainable farming movement in Punjab
since 2005 and Bhoomi Ka. The event brings together many experts from the fields of agriculture, food policy and medicine to build a roadmap for Punjab which focuses on sustainable farming, safe food, health and revival of Millets.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Kultar Singh recognized the work done by KVM in bringing the green agenda at the forefront. Shri Devinder Sharma the prominent food policy expert, also addressed the audience. He called on the new government of Punjab to take note of the point raised by the health experts and urged them to adopt the new roadmap.
Later, Shri Kultar Singh also visited the various stalls put up by the farmers and organic producers.
The event also features millet cookery sessions by expert chefs. A large number of people were seen attending the workshop and learning the art of cooking Millets. The festival will conclude tomorrow (3rd April) evening.
