Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker inaugurates New Shiva Antyodaya Market, Sector-9
Panchkula, February 25:- Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh Gian Chand Gupta inaugurated the new Shiva Antyodaya Market, Sector-9 here today. As many as 132 shopkeepers have been alloted shops in this new market which is equipped with all necessary facilities
Sh Gupta went around the New Shiva Antyodaya Market and took stock of the facilities.
It may be recalled that over 130 shops were gutted in a major fire that broke out at Rehri Market in Sector-9 on September 1, 2022. As a result of the persistent efforts made by Sh Gian Chand Gupta, the shopkeepers have now been rehabilitated and they got a permanent place to earn their livelihood.
Addressing the program organized on this occasion, Sh Gupta said he cannot forgot that fateful night when he had got information about the tragic incident of arson in the market, during his foreign tour. Sh Gupta said he immediately informed Chief Minister, Sh Manohar Lal about the incident over phone. The Chief Minister visited the market, met the shopkeepers and console them. As an interim relief, he also announced Rs. 25,000 to each affected shopkeeper which amount to about Rs 40 lakh.
Sh Gupta said that after returning from abroad, he met the affected shopkeepers and provided them financial assistance of Rs 41 lakh. He urged Chief Minister, Sh Manohar Lal that permanent shops be provided to the shopkeepers in Panchkula on the lines of new booths/shops given to the shopkeepers affected by a similar fire incident in Sector-46 Chandigarh. Conceding the same, the Chief Minister directed the officials to take action in this regard. Though there were many difficulties in this process, the same were resolved and today, he is satisfied that the shopkeepers have got ownership right of their shops.
Sh Gian Chand Gupta said that being the public representative of Panchkula, he always stands with every resident of panchkula during sorrow and happiness. The shopkeepers of Sector-9 have begun a new life today and he wishes for their growth and prosperity.
On this occasion, he also exhorted the shopkeepers to keep their goods inside the shop and contribute in making Panchkula, encroachment free. This is an ideal market and it is now in their hands to keep it as such , he asserted.
On this occasion, Sh Gian Chand Gupta also honored Hiteshi Foundation, Vishwas Foundation, Arya Samaj Mandir Sector-9 and other social organizations for their contribution in the construction of the market.
President, Traders Welfare Board Panchkula, Sh . B.B Singhal said that New Shiva Antyodaya Market has been constructed with the contribution made by Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh Gian Chand Gupta and other social organizations. The shopkeepers had to pay only Rs 50,000 each. On the call of Sh Gupta, various social organizations and people of Panchkula extended whole hearted support in construction of this market. He said that the shopkeepers who had taken shops on rent in the market earlier have now been allotted shops with ownership rights. The construction work of this market has been completed within four months of allotment of space to the shopkeepers.
On this occasion, BJP District President Deepak Sharma, Honorary General Secretary of Child Welfare Council Ranjita Mehta, Mahamntri Paramjit Kaur, Umesh Sood, Councilor Sonia Sood, Mandal Mahamantri Yuvraj Kaushik and Pramod Vats, State co-media in-charge Sanjay Ahuja, President of Market Association Sector -9 Rajkumar Rana, Secretary Rajendra Singh Arya, members Ramesh Rana, Teerth Singla, Mohan Singh Saini and Rajesh Arora, district media in-charge Naveen Garg and large number of shopkeepers of the market were also present.
