Chandigarh, May 15:- A meeting of Finance & Contract Committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairpersonship of Smt. Raj Bala Malik and attended by Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Sh. Vinod Aggarwal, Smt. Ravinder Kaur Gujral, Sh. Sanjay Kumar Jha, IAS, Special Commissioner, Sh. Tilak Raj and Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioners, Sh. Shailender Singh, Chief Engineer and other senior officers of MCC were present during the meeting.

The Mayor lauded the efforts and work done by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh to fight against COVID-19 under the leadership of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC. She also presented flower bouquet to the Commissioner for the whole team on behalf of the F&CC members and all councilors of MCC.

She briefed that during the lockdown period, the officers & officials of MCC were providing essential services to the citizens in addition to their own basic responsibilities including regular water supply, proper sanitation of the city and other works. She said that the prime responsibility of contact tracing of positive cases was also performed by the MCC officials upto the mark. She said that Sector Response Teams have performed their best to service the citizens.

The Mayor said that in addition to that the MCC has provided relief in property tax, vendor fee, water supply bills have been rescheduled keeping in view the larger interests of general public. In addition to that the MCC employees have donated Rs. 51 lacs in the COVID relief fund from their salaries.

The members of committee discussed various important agenda items in detail and accorded approval for the following:

·        Regarding purchase of relief operations for COVID-19 under the Medical Officer of Health at an estimated cost of Rs. 45 lacs.

·        Release of salary of staff of civil dispensary-49 and extension in the time limit for the services of Data Entry operators against the sanction post of steno typist in engineering wing, MCC.

·        The committee relaxed the time period of issuance notices to the Kumhars of Kumhar colony, Maloya in regard to pay their outstanding dues. The notices will now be served during the month of July and last date has been fixed to deposit the dues upto 31st December, 2020.

·        The committee approved the replacement of spare parts of both HPTTL vehicles at an estimated cost of Rs. 13.68 lacs.

·        The committee also relaxed the increase in rent of commercial shops in villages and decided that the rent will be accepted for one year with 10% increase on existing rates only for all the 13 villages.

·        The committee also fixed the monthly rent of 3.5 acre land allotted to nurseries at village Mauli Jagran @ Rs. 30000 per month per acre upto September, 2020.

·        Purchase of 6 green crusher for use in horticulture division at an estimated cost of Rs. 19.33 lacs.

·        Purchase of one truck with hydraulic system for cattle catching at an estimated cost of Rs. 15.75 lacs.

·        The agenda item regarding disposal and fixation of rent of kiosks at food street, sector 48 will be put up in the general house meeting.

·        The committee also accorded approval of Rs. 35/- per sq. ft. for providing barricades of pipe available in road sub division No.2, MCC.

·        The committee accorded approval to the renewal of license of Chandigarh washerman workshop cooperative industrial society Ltd., sector 15, Chandigarh upto September, 2020 with 10% increase in existing rent.

·        Procurement of material for control of COVID-19 under engineering wing, MCC at an estimated cost of Rs. 53.46 lacs.

·        Chargeable to implementation of COVID-19 duty by the engineering wing, MCC at an estimated cost of Rs. 29.91 lacs.

·        The committee also accorded approval to the disposal of garbage bags collected from the people of quarantine in the city and its scientific disposal at insenator at industrial area at an estimated cost of Rs. 41 lacs.

·        The Mayor asked the MOH to take up the cleanliness of back lanes on priority and required tools be provided to their employees to maintain the cleanliness of back lanes throughout the city.

·        During the meeting it was discussed and decided that the MoH wing of MCC will impart training regarding inhouse and outside sanitation of govt. offices to the employees of different govt. offices in the city from Monday onwards infront of MoH office, 30 bays building, Sector 17, Chandigarh from 8.00 am to 8.30 am daily.
