‘Swachhanjali’ was together given by hundreds in Saurabh Joshi’s ward no. 12

P.M Modi’s call for ‘Shramdaan’ on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti reverberated in the entire ward no. 12 in full furore. Today hundred of volunteers from all walks joined hands in collaboration with M.C Chandigarh, in cleaning various areas of ward no. 12. This ‘ swacchanjali’  was given as a homage to the Father of our Nation.

In two major events, the Dussehra Ramleela Ground of sector – 24 and the back side of Patel market of sector-15 were thoroughly cleaned by the area councillor Saurabh Joshi, officials of M.C Chandigarh,residents from entire ward no.12 and numerous volunteers.


The most endearing vision was when all the characters of Ram leela came dressed- up in their costumes to volunteer in the drive. In sector 15 , the presence and participation of hundred of youth/ students sparked up the cleanliness drive. The entire back lane of Patel Market of Sector 15 was cleaned up. The residents too did not lack in their fervour to show their awareness about cleanliness.
All the energetic and gleeful participants hailed P.M Modi who had accorded highest priority to a ‘ swacch bharat’ ever since he became the P.M of India in the year 2014. During this program M.C commissioner Anandita Mitra and area Councillor Saurabh Joshi made all the participants to pledge for following the ‘zero waste policy’. A public toilet of sector 15/C was too cleaned up. Saurabh joshi, who was so elated to see so many people coming out of their own accord, said, ” the over- whelming response of children, youth, women and even elderly shows how the value of cleanliness instilled by Mahatma Gandhi is so glorified. This shows that we have not forgotten and will never forget the morals of Bapu, be it a child or his grandparents.”


This campaign was carried out in various other areas of the ward, including neighbourhood parks, public toilets, streets etc. Plantation was too done by enthusiasts.
On this occassion the field staff of M.C including M.O.H ‘ Safai Karamcharis’ , ‘ Maalis’ of Horticulture Department were honoured and given sanitizers and gloves by the M.C Commissioner Anandita Mitra and Saurabh Joshi.
Those present on the events were : M.O.H department’s Dr. Vinay Mohan Bhagat, officials of Public health deptt , residents of sectors 15, 16 and 24, P.U DSW Jatinder Grover, NSS co- ordinator (P.U), Dr. Praveen Goyal, Market welfare Association (15 and 24), Vyapaar Madal Chandigarh, RWA’ s and MWA’s of sectors -15, 16 and 24.; U.T subordinate Union members, residents from Nursing Quaters of sector 15, RWA Cheap house sector 15, Mandir Committee members of sector 16 and many more.
